Not sure if anyone has noticed this, but a late night night talk show host on KOA here in Colorado, Jon Caldara, gives our own John Bena some publicity (although I am pretty sure he mispronounces the name).

I don't know if anyone will find the discussion all that interesting (it's not really a sports show) but it's always cool to see John and MHR get some props.

This is the view from the front porch of my new house. That's Mile High, of course, 6 blocks to the south.

"On July 13, Xanders underwent a triple-fusion surgery on his neck. Two degenerative discs were removed, bone marrow was extracted from his pelvic bone and then sprayed on two plastic discs, which were inserted back into the spine. Then came the hardware: a 4-inch steel plate, secured with eight screws, attached to the spine so it could keep four consecutive vertebrae in their proper slots."

ESPN "Investigative Journalism" at it's finest. Apparently, "well Bill Williamson said" now qualifies as a "rumor". But I probably shouldn't be surprised at anything this network does after "the decision"...

Here's the text if you don't waste your money in Insider like I do.

"UPDATE: ESPN AFC West blogger Bill Williamson said on the Scott Van Pelt show Friday that he predicts Kyle Orton will play 10 games for the Denver Broncos this season, with Tim Tebow taking over for the final six if the team is out of playoff contention. Williamson points out that Tebow was drafted not to serve as a clipboard holder or gadget play extraordinaire, but to play starting QB, and he will be given the opportunity to do so unless Orton comes through with a very solid season.

---

Orton made Broncos coach Josh McDaniels look like a genius through the opening stretch of the season, limiting his mistakes (his first interception didn't come until Week 5) and guiding the Broncos to a 6-0 start to 2009.

The wheels fell off for both Orton and the team thereafter, which may have been the impetus for exploring other options this offseason. Ergo, the trade for Brady Quinn and drafting of Tebow. There's also an idea that Orton has a low ceiling -- and may have already reached it -- whereas the other two players have yet to reach their full potential.

Regardless, the job appears to be firmly in Orton's grasp following spring practices, according to Mike Klis of the Denver Post. Furthermore, Klis argues that Orton can be the man to lead the Broncos to the Super Bowl if they can develop a running game on offense and a defense that can stop the run.

It's an interesting idea, perhaps based on what Trent Dilfer did with the Baltimore Ravens in 2000. On the other hand, the elite teams in the league all have elite QBs, and that's not a label likely to be applied to Orton any time soon. The problem for the Broncos is that neither of the other two is at that level yet, either."

Kiszla thinks CU should join the Mountain West. I can only assume this is because he's hittin' the rock.

Hey, apologies if this has been posted/discussed already. If so, let me know and I'll just delete this fanshot.

Otherwise, pretty interesting article. This move could have quite a bit of impact for the game.
