Torii Hunter

I'm reluctantly starting to come around on this guy. I mean, if the Giants don't like Melky's PR(public relations) stats and are unwilling to bring him back, I guess Hunter would be a fine...

Henry Schulman: Payroll in 2012 will be $130 million, up marginally from the $124 million final total for 2011 but substantially more than the $97 million paid to the 2010 title team. ...the Giants hope a healthy Buster Posey and Freddy Sanchez, plus new outfielder Melky Cabrera, can extend a lineup that hit sufficiently to win a World Series. Now, they are seeking depth that they lacked last season. The Giants pursued Willie Bloomquist, because he can play short and outfield, before he re-signed with Arizona for two years at $3.8 million. Reports tie the Giants to oft-injured center fielder Grady Sizemore, who could have a big upside if healthy. "We'll consider anybody," Baer said, "but we're very mindful of focusing on folks that we're going to want to keep, people like Matt Cain, Tim Lincecum, Buster Posey, Pablo Sandoval and Brian Wilson. These are all people who are going to be discussed." The Giants have not signed any player for more than two years since 2008, but Baer said that was "not an ordained structure or rule," and he expects the team to offer longer deals to Lincecum and Cain. Both are priorities this winter, Lincecum because he could fetch gargantuan numbers in arbitration, Cain because he can walk as a free agent after next season. Baer said season-tickets prices will rise an average of 5-6 percent, though he acknowledged that a handful of customers will see double-digit increases because the team determined that those tickets were undervalued. He said single-game ticket prices will be "pretty much in line with last year," though they will fluctuate with dynamic pricing.

Jose Bautista

6

Jon Heyman: "sfgiants interested in jose bautista." July 21,10 I remember Peter Gammons on MLB Network last season right before the trade deadline predicting that the Giants would make a deal for Bautista. The Giants could probably have dealt Bumgarner to the Blue Jays for Bautista. He was considered a possible one year wonder and PED candidate at the time, but now appears to be a legit late bloomer who is the undisputed best hitter in baseball. I wonder what that would have done to the Giants World Series prospects. Would the Giants have acquired and started Cody Ross in the playoffs? Bautista was considered a journeyman utility player and could have easily supplanted Pablo at third. That would have ment no Renteria in the World Series I assume. Maybe a combination of Zack Wheeler and others would have been enough so Bumgarner could have stayed. Just imagine, the next Barry Bonds. During the offseason the Red Sox were interested but that door had already been shut. Sabean, I hate you.

Percentage Of Black Baseball Players Drops Again

36

"The percentage of black players in the major leagues dropped again on opening day this year even as the sport again received a top overall grade for racial diversity."(AP) Considering that the Giants don't have an African American on their regular 25 man roster, it's hard to imagine guys like Mays and Mccovey who represent nationally the Giants organization and black American players in general, not speaking up about it. I think the situation sort of crimps their style. Darren Ford's on the team right now but he'll surely get sent down when Andres Torres is healthy enough to play again. It would be nice if Marc Kroon is promoted later on in the season as he pitched very well in spring training. Hopefully, Thomas Neal is for real and gets the outfield job next season.

"A federal judge will allow the testimony of former baseball players and their relationship with Barry Bonds' former personal trainer during the slugger's perjury trial... U.S. District Judge Susan Illston ruled Monday that prosecutors can use the testimony to support their position that Anderson supplied Bonds with the same drugs and instructions that others received."

I almost puked watching this video. The continuous interchanging of videos of the Phillies rotation pitching and the Rocky statue makes no sense. The Giants would be Rocky to the Phillies Drago. LOL Blanton, not very bright. Cliff Lee, dead serious. Wants revenge.

"Wilson is by his own choice a creature of show business, and as such will now play by show business’ rules, the first of which is, "You’re as good as your last hit."... All he has to be is slightly better than he was a year ago, and he’s home free. Otherwise, well, it isn’t like he won’t have been warned ... After all, what else are the fans and media for?" They all suffer from PGSD, Post Giants Stress Disorder. So they've banded together to defeat their common enemy. Start the circle jerk and work it out boys. Seriously, I don't even know why any of the other MLB teams should compete next season. They should just surrender the trophy over to these guys now.

Tim Brown YAHOO Sports: Winning World Series completes Bochy

Very nice article. Interesting: Once, he’d actually said it aloud, confiding in his general manager, Brian Sabean, "I really want one more chance to get to a World Series." Of course, what he probably said next either out loud or in his mind was, "so please don't fire me". But he doesn't need to worry about that anymore because he's freakin' golden in the Bay Area.

Judge: Former players to testify at Bonds trial

21

"Some of Barry Bonds' former teammates, along with other retired Major League Baseball players and perhaps current player Jason Giambi, will have to testify at the slugger's upcoming perjury trial, a federal judge said Friday." Prosecutors are trying to get Bonds' nuts in a vice but it will be hard without former trainer Greg Anderson testifying.
