Canseco gunning for A-Rod Now
Canseco says he has some dirt on A-Rod. I hope it's not true, but who knows? I suppose it could be. In this article it's actually Chipper Jones who is now stirring the pot on this. (as an aside,I hate that guy for some reason. I guess one thing is he's a grown man with the moniker of a 4 year old)
NEW YORK (AP) -- Chipper Jones predicted Alex Rodriguez will be the next player answering questions about steroids if he gets close to breaking the home run record.
The Atlanta Braves star said Wednesday that A-Rod probably will face suspicions about steroid use -- just as new home run king Barry Bonds has -- because Jose Canseco recently hinted he has salacious information to disclose about Rodriguez.
''I don't doubt it,'' Jones said. ''There's been a lot of validation to some of the things that Jose Canseco has said over the years. At first when it came out a lot of people didn't want to give him a lot of credit for it. But a lot of it has been proven true. Now, when he opens his mouth, people listen. And unfortunately, this cloud is following probably two of the best players of this century.''
Here's the rest of it. What do you think guys?

Cool NYT humor article
There is a cute article up from the Times by Hart Seely, detailing personal rituals intended to affect the Yankees. Which I'm sure no one here knows anything about -wink-.
As a child, I personally led the Yanks to several world championships. When the team needed help, I ran out back and pitched a tennis ball against the garage. I served up home runs to Mickey Mantle and blew fastballs past the hapless Willie Mays. The garage fell apart, but the Yankees always won.Unless they lost. That happened because my sister hid the ball, or I just didn't concentrate hard enough.
For me and countless others, Rizzutonian metaphysics long ago became part of life.
While the Yankees are playing, we are working.
I recently met someone who does some of the video at the stadium, and he's only worked there since the yanks have not been bringing home the championship. Recently the Mets have been offering more money for certain weekend. He feels that if he works for the Mets, that the Yanks will start to win since his presence is what is causing the Yanks to lose.

Yankees food drive this Friday
The Yankees are having one of their annual drives. There have been toy drives in past winters, this one is a food drive (maybe they always do both). They are taking donations of 25 pounds of food and giving a free pass for tickets in exchange, this Friday from 9-4 at the stadium.
Anyway, I've done the toy drive in the past and for stuff that costs you 10-15 bucks you get a pass you can exchange for four tier seats at a non-premium, weeknight game. I combined this with a purchase one year and took ten people to the game on my birthday. You have to exchange the pass for tickets at the stadium and usually you have to do it fairly early in the year even if the tickets are for any time in the regular season.
I'm not sure I'm doing this one, but I have my Yankees teddy bear because of a food drive that I participated in there a couple years back.
Here's the link to the page on the Yankees site.

Funny NYT editorial on A-Rod
A good spoof on the current discussion of A-Rod comparing it to other world events by Tom Peyer and Hart Seely. I've never heard of them, but I don't read much sports literature. Anyway it's funny.
A choice bit:
"KEEP Trading A-Rod would lead to a disaster in the American League East. It would embolden other teams and threaten future Yankee clubs. To cut and run is not an option.
TRADE Neither is "Stay the course."
KEEP Not once has the Yankee brass said, "Stay the course." That's never been the plan!
TRADE We need an A-Rod exit strategy. Getting him was always a mistake. We were told the Yankees would greet him as a liberator. After three years, it's a fiasco -- yes, a fiasco. Against the Tigers in the playoffs, he went 1-for-14, struck out with the bases loaded and made a critical fielding error. Each day, the news reports worsened."

Greenfuzz's game 1
Getting the call that I got a free seat to tonights game was unexpected. I had a couple mojito's with the office crowd and then my friend met me and we headed to the stadium. I'm in a green dress with a black shirt over it and high heels. No yankees gear, or hat, nothing but the keychain in my pocket had a yanks logo. People passed us and said "They're from the Upper East Side".
First off, it's my first time in the bleachers and I knew I was going to need some remedial help for the lineup chant. I confess I really didn't know that they say "Box Seats Suck!" at the end. I guess I never understood what they were saying until I could see my fellow creatures lips move.

Injuries
So Pinstripers, the injuries are now starting to pile up. As of today, Bubba might even be going on the DL. Sheffield is scheduled for another MRI, we know Matsui is out for most of the season. Chacon is going to miss one start Sunday, because of a bruised knee from being hit by a ball last Thursday (Small will be filling in for him). Mercifully, Sturtze is also on the DL and will have rotator cuff surgery.
So lets discuss replacements, who would you see brought up or acquired to fill these gaps in the outfield and pitching staff?
