I just read an article in the TRIB. It seems like the economy, being so bad right now, is keeping the SF Whiners from building that stadium in Santa Clara. Apparently, they are now "open" to the idea of sharing a new stadium with the Raaaaaideeers!

If that came to be - could we tear down Mt. Davis and make a baseball stadium on Hegenberger and 66th? Or even better, tear the whole thing down and build on that land?

There are many possibilities and I think we could have something "doable" if the whiners and raiders, work together!

I'm not one for "wasting" money, but WTF? why can't the A's ownership spend some money on players? Why can other owners, who worth less money than Fisher-Wolff (4th richest ownership group in MLB) spend some dough and we A's fans get "the shaft"?
We have completely dismantled the great 2001 Oakland A's to the point where contributors to this site are getting excited for rejects/scrubs like: Denorfia, Cus,t Crosby and Hananhan.

I'm a supporter of Baseball at Oakland Technical High School (where Rickey Henderson went to school).

We've been fundraising to get a new field that is actually close to the school. We usually play at Bushrod Field; which is about a 1.5 miles from our campus. Its not a great field. Soccer players destroy it every weekend ...

Well we have gotten a lot support from KTVU, Alameda County Supervisors and other members of the community.

I just wanted to publicly acknowlegde Ken Korach, who gave $5,000 to help build our "Field of Dreams!"

I don't know how much money MLB announcers make, but I know its nowhere near enough for all the joy they bring to us.

Good ol' 'Dud Selig' is trying to screw many of us out of viewing MLB games on cable, because, IMO, he is a geedy slimebag.

And I don't think Mr. Wolff is any different with his slimy desire to take the Oakland A's out of OAKLAND!!

These guys don't care about fans... they only care about money. And i'm soooo tired of all the "its a business..." garbage on this site. They don't care about any of us.

It's a business, yes, but it will cease to function (make BIG money), if MLB continues to alienate its fan base.

Selig goes to the "right" (signing up with Murdoch's DirecTV) and Wolff wants to build a stadium in the middle of nowhere; next to toxic sites.

Wake up A's fans. Schott/Hoffman made a profit every year, and sold the franchise for a profit. Also, Wolff/Fisher make money right now, and will make a huge profit if/when the cash out.

What fraternity were the guys in? Alpha Dumba Loser!

[EDITOR'S NOTE: Believe it or not, I was going to bring this very topic up in coming days. I thought Lilly might be a possibility, but more realistically, I thought Mulder might wind up being the guy because I imagine there won't be too many teams placing much stock in him. And if Mulder gets his injury fixed, he can be one of the most dominating pitchers in the game, especially with the A's infield defense behind him. My one big concern with Mulder was that he became a head case before he left the A's and his career with the Cardinals has been quite up and down. But the A's wouldn't need him to be an ace. They'd essentially need him to fill a role of third or fourth starter behind Harden and Haren. To me, this is exactly the kind of deal Beane looks for because of the A's budget issues. And Mulder was his happiest with the green and gold. - Blez]

I think this is a good idea, if we can get him for cheap.

I liked it when Giambi, Damon, Miggy, Huddy and Mulder where on the "way out". They all kind of left the door open to returning (even if they weren't really going to come back).

This thing with Zito -openly- talking about leaving our A's is kinda lame.

I will stay upbeat and root for him (cause in the end I root for the  uniform).

Has any of our big free agents been so open before the season was over; talking up a move to specefic teams?

The Brewers dealt Lee and minor league outfielder Nelson Cruz to the Rangers in exchange for outfielders Kevin Mench and Laynce Nix, reliever Francisco Cordero and minor league pitcher Julian Cordero.

Sources close to the team confirmed Friday morning the deal had been made.

The deal actually was agreed upon after midnight as Brewers general manager Doug Melvin and his staff stayed late Thursday at Miller Park and worked the telephones. Several teams showed interest in Lee, including Detroit, Oakland and both Los Angeles clubs, but Melvin felt he got the best return from Texas.
