Shea McClellin: Chicago Bears top pick — nice story, maybe - Chicago Tribune
Curious how this didn't make our pages yet. I just hope Shea can make him eat crow.

Running Pains. Quite Literally.
I am a pretty new runner. So new that I am still trying to figure out the idiosyncracies to running properly and making my life easier. Non-shoe apparel: both cold and hot weather clothes; safety (vests vs lights), etc. Proper running techniques, how to recognize when my body needs a rest, diet, and all that good stuff.
One thing that I have finally grown an appreciation is properly breaking in my new running shoes before going on one of my full runs (I only run four times a week, four is the minimum, six is my intermediate, and eight is my long).
Last spring I update my running shoe. I went from a New Balance to a Brooks Adrenaline 11. During the first three weeks, my knees ached, as well as my feet. And I battled with migraine headaches. I blamed the aching knees and feet on the shoes. But inexplicably couldn't figure out the cause of my headaches. Just figured I had a rash of bad luck.
Then mid-February, I bought a new pair of shoes, the Adrenaline 12. I ran a four mile stretch without any sort of pre-wear on the shoes. Two days later, midway through the day, wouldn't you know it, I had a crazy bad migraine again.
My wife mentioned the prossibility of my shoe being the problem. I believe her to be correct. I've heard of horror stories of people wearing shoes that do not feel comfortable causing back pain and other physical problems. I've also heard of people needing chiropractic care in order to alleviate headaches as well. So, in my personal opinion, based on experience, this all sounds too plausible.
Has anyone else run (ha, no pun intended) into this problem? Any tips on effectively breaking in a shoe to avoid headaches (in the very literal sense)? I've taken to taking walks in my new shoes while still running in the old. I'm planning on taking a three week transition. I don't think it will actually take that long, but right now I am incredibly gun shy. I do not want/need another migraine to sideline me any more time.
Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Perhaps we can help each other figure out ways to make our running experiences a little less painful!!
Boise State's Kellen Moore wins two of three events in All-Star Football Challenge
But how could this be?!?! Kellen Moore is an inferior athlete!!!!
Russell Wilson to start at QB, Kellen Moore to go second
What's interesting is that Cripe says this:
Wilson and Moore have looked like the two best quarterbacks all week.
I keep reading all these people ripping on Kellen (and disproportionately praising Cousins). I think the height and arm "strength" thing blocks people's actual perception of him. Like Cripe said, they harp on his size but "conveniently" leave out how well he actually does during the live action.
I can't watch the game, but excited to see some of the highlights.
THE VERY REASONABLY TIMED TOP 25 FOR 2031
Boise State clocks in at #9. We'll get there!!!

This is great news!!
(Also, it's a ticker, so the relevant info will soon fall off.)
Real Kellen Moore Facebook page?
So this page popped up a few days ago. The person who is running it claims to be Kellen. Both Austin Pettis and Billy Winn linked to it so I am inclined to believe it is real. But I am still unsure. Apparently one of his aunts was publically trying to make sure of the authenticity, but I am not sure whatever happened to it. Can anyone vouch for it's validity? Also, Drew, I noticed you asked him a question. Did you ever get a response?
BSU makes three appearancese in SB Nation's top 100 games of 2011 college football
First one is #66 the Maaco game. Pretty sure the only reason Bill put it on there is because of Moore's 50th win (which isn't a bad reason).
The second game is #28 vs Georgia. Obvious reasons.
The last one is #10. Funny. I don't recall this game ever happening...
Pretty cool if you ask me, though, to make some important appearances and two of them in the top 30.
Bill O'Brien: BSD Staff Reactions
Only reason I'm posting this is because they tried three times to get Petersen and there is a lot of teeth gnashing over there about hiring O'Brien.
That and Kevan, are you worried (as a Pats fan) that your OC is going to have one foot out the door?
(note: none of the Pats fans over there couldn't really care less he's going.)

Nick Patti as "Ath/RB" not QB for Semper Fi Bowl
Which is...intersting.
For numerous reasons I won't be watching the Sugar Bowl or any of the Semper Fi All-Star game. So can this be the open comment/thread for how well Patti does?
Any feedback would be great. Thanks in advance.
Penn State Coaching Search: Wishes and Best Guesses - Black Shoe Diaries
Penn State coaching speculation. Go read some rationalizatios about NOT hiring Coach Pete.
Good. Please, spread those arguments around. The more of those, the better.
I just wish the fans/alums of big schools wouldn't be so arrogant about what they feel Petersen could do at their respective schools. (This goes for Stanford, UCLA, Washington, Arizona, Arizona State, Florida, all of them. Get over yourself guys.)
Who will be on the NCAA 2013 cover?
Now that the season is over for Boise State (and some of the players can be back on Twitter, YAY!) it is time to look forward to some off season speculation. Where will Kellen end up in the draft? Martin, Potter, Iloka, McClellin, etc, etc.. How will these guys play in the all-star games? And, I think, who will end up on the cover of NCAA 2013??

MAACO Bowl Las Vegas
Boise State vs. Arizona State (Dec. 22, 8 p.m. ET on ESPN/ESPN3)From an undefeated season and possible (probable?) national championship appearance to the MAACO Bowl Las Vegas? Welcome to the wonderful world of non-Automatic Qualifying status, where three-loss West Virginia gets to play in the Orange Bowl and Virginia Tech, fresh off a 28-point loss in the ACC championship game, gets to play in the Sugar Bowl.
Meanwhile, Boise's Kellen Moore, the winningest quarterback in FBS history, waves farewell to the college game from Las Vegas. If not for a one-point loss to TCU, the Broncos might have been in New Orleans on Jan. 9.
Kellen Moore probably deserved a better stage to end his illustrious career than the MAACO Bowl Las Vegas.I'm going to miss the lug. He's the thinner, shorter, non-neckbeard version of Stanford's Andrew Luck.

"Probably" Gene? That the best you got? Dude rubs me the wrong way.
So who are you rooting for (QB)?
As we wind down the 2011-12 season, it is time to start looking forward to Boise State's future all-stars. We have all been insanely spoiled with Kellen Moore lighting up basically everything and succeeding in almost every facet there is to being an elite college QB. So that begs the question:
Who are YOU rooting for to take over as the Boise State signal caller?
UCLA told "no" about Coach Pete
But it's from Schad. If there ever was a time for him to be right....
Pease to Ole Miss?
Anyone hear anything? I mean, can we take this as some sort of positive? Him leaving means the top spot not opening any time soon?
No BYU to the Big East.
So there's that. Oh well.

SDSU on the prowl for BYU's spot in the Big East
I'm fine with this. Need another western presence regardless.
As of Saturday, the Big East "felt confident about their discussions with Boise State," a college football industry source told CBSSports.com.
"That’s the most important factor, the stability of the core membership," Navy athletic director Chet Gladchuk told CBSSports.com Monday night.
Gladchuk said that the possibility of adding Boise State was significant in Navy’s decision making process. "Absolutely," Gladchuk said. "Anything that helps stabilize the Big East’s automatic BCS berth."
