At The Hive Hornets Trade for G Jerryd Bayless (Give Up Future 1st to Portland)

[Update via Blazers Edge: "Sources tell Blazersedge the trade has been approved by the league office minutes ago, so it's official. The pick Portland is set to receive is top-7 protected in 2011 and top-8 protected in 2012, 2013 and 2014. After that, it would turn into two second-round picks in 2015 and 2016."]

[Initial reaction: this is a really, really, really good acquisition. More soon. Thanks to Grrranderson for this FanPost and reebokforthree for the FanShot. Awesome move by Dell Demps -Rohan]

Interesting move... gives us a backup PG most likely... I like the move, let's see what he can do.  He has never really gotten much playing time or a chance to prove himself, maybe he breaks out this year.  He is still only 22 and it gives us 4 guards I am excited to see on the floor this year in Paul, Thornton, Belinelli and Bayless.

Also, Monty saw and worked with Bayless a lot when he was in Portland, makes me think he sees a bright future for him if they are making this deal.

Minor League Ball Minor League Thread 8/8/2007

How are all the prospects performing tonight?

In the PawSox/Scranton Wilkes Barre game:
Ian Kennedy: 4.0 IP 3 hits 0 BB 5 K 0 runs

Ellsbury: 1-2 with a K
Jed Lowrie: 0-1 with a HBP

Who else is everyone watching tonight?

Of course I start to post this and jinx Kennedy.  He just walked the leadoff man in the 5th.

Minor League Ball Tim Lincecum!

Timmy struck out 9 of the first 12 Arizona batters today, and now has allowed 2 hits and 0 BB through 5 innings with those same 9 Ks.

Tim Lincecum
is god.

Seriously though, this isn't that much of a surprise from him.  Looking at his stats his K rates have been outstanding, I think the criticism he has received on this site for his MLB performance was pretty unwarranted.
