Rock M Nation Chelsea Thomas is NOT the National Player of the Week. Another pitcher is.

This is DISRESPECT complete ignorance on the part of the voters/selectors of this award.

Consider the performances of Pitcher A (who won the award this afternoon), who earned her statistics against the likes of Big Ten bottom-dwellers Ohio State and Wisconsin -- they're literally the two worst teams in the B1G -- and Pitcher B, who... did not. (Note: This does not include Pitcher A's save earned against the fastpitch juggernaut that is Indiana State from this week.)

Pitcher A Category Pitcher B
.407 Opponents' Winning Pct. .622
.219 Opponents' Conf. Winning Pct. .500
.262 Opponents' Season Batting Avg. .289
.151 Opponents' Batting Avg. last week .188
~5.60 Opp. Hitters' Season K's/7IP ~5.61
13.84 Opp. Hitters' K's/7IP last week 12.83
1.67 Pitcher's ERA last weekend 0.58

As you undoubtedly can figure out, Pitcher A is Indiana's Morgan Melloh - a fine pitcher, just not the nation's best from last week, considering the competition - and Pitcher B is someone with an intense staredown in the direction of the ASA national HQ in Oklahoma City.

UPDATE: The table has been corrected to fix mathematical errors on K/7IP, and also to add in both pitchers' non-conference performances (i.e. every pitch they threw) last week.

I can't really say "keep up the good work", because 1) you do, and 2) he's referencing stuff you did months ago, which is years in dog years.

Regardless, nice to see kudos from the "MSM".

Rock M Nation Oh, dear.

Saw Pig Brown at football facilities today for 1st time in too long. Looking great and he's working and playing ball in Nebraska…

From Chad Moller's Twitter account.

Commence RPT convulsions in 3, 2, 1...

And to get this here FanPost up the fun limit of 75 words, which is an annyance, I humbly submit for your approval and amusement the Pixar response to yesterday's festivities near the Bay of Tampa. Enjoy.

Rock M Nation Ess Eee See Brains?

I guess not only does Team Speed Kill opponents, it kills brain cells as well.

TSK has a somewhat interesting post about teams' records in their home states during March Madness. Problem is, they make a pretty big error in the third graf (or the first graf of analysis, about the Final Four):

Only one team has ever played in the Final Four in its home state: 1994 Duke, which beat Florida but lost to Arkansas in Charlotte.

While I'm sure Tom Izzo would love to forget it, I'm not sure if he would agree with that assessment.

I'm not yet a member of TSK, so I can't comment to make the correction. Just thought I'd point it out with another reason why, although most of SB Nation does a great job of analysis and contribution, nothing beats the Rock M.

It wasn't the kids, it was the coaching staff. Horrible play calls all night long. Maybe Pinkel is out of touch w/reality.

Sent from @onebrncowco to @mutigersdotcom tonight. It's been pretty representative of what we've been seeing tonight. Whatever happened to perspective?

Rock M Nation Send Off the Tigers

Just got this note: Mizzou fans are encouraged to send the basketball team off to Glendale on Tuesday at 1:45 pm. Meet on the South side of Mizzou Arena.

And I need to come up with 45 more words, so I just thought I'd repeat The Boy's intro from Ellis' title:

About 16 months ago, anybody who followed Mizzou Wrestling figured that heavyweight Mark Ellis was about to lose his starting role to incoming freshman Dom Bradley.  Now, he's a national champion.  Ellis won a crazy final match in OT over Duke's Konrad Dudziak, and he is Mizzou's second national wrestling champ.  Congrats to Mr. Ellis and congrats to Brian Smith for continuing to build a big-time national program.  Mizzou is alive and well in the post-Askren era.
