I came to our great country as a young child of a South Asian immigrant family in the mid 70s. Watching my first game in a cold country I was hooked on being a Leaf fan. It provided escape from the struggles of adapting to life in Canada although 70s were tough because Habs dominated the NHL in the second half (Leafs helped by giving up Doug Jarvis for pretty much nothing) and the 80s were downright depressing. Today I am a grown man who with a family who have ensured my children become hockey fans rather than Leaf fans.
