Dear Niners
Dear Niners,
I was raised in Southern California in the 80s where I admired the Niners and their west coast offense and the brilliance of Coach Walsh. Over the year watching Hall of Famers such as Joe Montana, Steve Young and Jerry Rice. My parents moved to Dallas, TX in high school during the glory days of Dallas vs SF in the NFC Championship games, epic showdown between D. Sanders and M. Irvin fighting toe to toe for surpremacy. It was a fierce rivalry and both teams respected each other... and so did the fans. Lets jump to the present day... Niners have had 8 or 9 consecutive seasons without a winning season, continual carousel of coaches... horrible draft picks and failing to bringing in free agents that are worth a damn. Dallas not much better one playoff win in last 12 years... dismal records not much better than the Niners. But Cows seem like they can move the ball with a quickness, their receivers seem far superior to the likes of Edwards and Crabtree. All that a side... i have not lost my fairth in the Niners. Believe it or not, I still believe in Alex Smith... i know... it hurts me to even say this. Living in Dallas as a Niners fan has been pretty excruciating over the last 10 years. I beg you... don't let me down this Sunday... losing to any other team wouldn't hurt me as bad as losing to the annoying and un-america's team the Dallas Cows. I'm pretty sure we'll be considered a underdog by the oddmakers... but if we lose this Sunday I may have to buy lunches for the rest of the month. Don't let me down.
Sincerely,
Faithful in Dallas
Texas vs Penn State???
Happy Monday Everyone...
I live in Texas... I am a Texan... I just had the good fortune of getting to goto the greatest university on the face of the earth in Penn State. After coming back to the state of Texas after my degree at Penn State, I've been subjegated to all kinds of harassment about how Texas would manhandle Penn State. I've always pointed to the last time these traditional powerhouses met... 1997 my freshman year at State where State crushed Ricky Williams Longhorns 38-15. Where Ricky Williams a Heisman Trophy winner was held under 50 yards and Penn State ran for 330 yards.
Penn State has always done it with defense and hardnose running game. Even with the Spread HD we haven't really deviated too much from the old fashion runs. We still have great backs and OL that can punish teams on the ground.
If Texas looses one of their games (which doesn't seem likely, since they actually have a far easier schedule than we did) it looks like they will be locked in for the Fiesta Bowl. With Penn State winning out... Fiesta should pick up at-large bid and I believe it will be Penn State. How do you think our Ole State will fair against Texas and their spread attack? Wouldn't you like to see this matchup more than Boise State and Penn State??? I've been praying for this since 2000... please God... let A&M beat Texas.
Big 12 problem in the Big Ten????
One of my co-worker (who is an OSU alum) and I had a conversation which we both didn't know the rules to. The scenerio that Big XII was faced last year regarding the Big XII South Champion can possibly surface in the Big Ten (probably slightly differently since we don't have a North and South and for that matter a championship game). I'm talking about a 3 way tie for the Big Ten Championship.
If... Iowa looses to OSU... and OSU looses to Penn State... and rest of the teams finish out the season without a loss. There should be a 3 way tie in conference record all with one loss. How does Big Ten sort out who goes to the Rose Bowl and who is 2 and 3(for bowl purposes)? Would it be the team that has the best overall record, then head to head, finally the AP ranking???
I know its early but anyone know the rules behind this??? Any comment on how we can resolve this matter in the future? The championship game wouldn't solve anything since all the teams don't play each other. I hate this Co-Championship BS... because my coworker still has the 08 Big Ten championship banner in his office which I laugh at everytime I walk by.
Thanks in advace...
I hate IOWA!
Sirens Please!~!
According to Scout.com Fight on State, Penn State just landed a 3 star recruit to their growing list of talant.
His name is Luke Graham held offers to FSU, Pitt, Maryland and others. He looks way too light to be an offensive lineman, so I'm guessing he'll have to redshirt his freshman year and wait til he fills out a bit.
Here is the link: Luke Graham
Welcome to the family Luke!
USC Linebacker U... I didn't think so
According to nfldraftbible.com two of the three USC linebackers, Brian Cushing and Clay Matthews have tested positive for steroids. This report is according to various sources, including one NFL team.
When I hear guys like McStupid on ESPN talk about how PSU isn't the linebacker U or other such nonsense. I just laugh... because of things like this. Just watching the NIT game last night made me realize... its not just the talent, size or sheer strength that creates a legend or a champion... but alot of it is the heart, determination, and discipline. USC can keep their flash, glamor and their needles... and we'll keep our plain colors, black shoes and keep it clean! Hail State! Long live Linebacker U!
3 of a kind? A Pair? Just give me ONE!
Okay... I didn't want to start acting crazy one day before the NSD, but I couldn't help myself. Here are some of my thoughts (in no particular order)... and I would like to hear others thoughts as well:
- I hear everyone talk about Jenkins loving Florida especially since Spikes is coming back? What the hell does that suppose to mean? I would think this kid wants to play... sooner rather than later? Espcially since Jarvis Jones (strongly considering Florida) and Jon Bostic (already committed to Florida), both OLB who are bigger and as fast as Jenkins. Penn State, we have LB... yes... but we don't have the OLB that have this much speed. He will start at State sooner than he would at Florida. Plus in regards to Spikes forgoing the draft~ who cares! LJ Sr. stayed... bigger plus for Jenkins in my opionion.
- Justin Brown... I'm not sure what to think about this kid. Couple months ago, I though we had 'em locked up. Now I hear he's good friends with Savage (commit to Rutgers), that they have 'good communication'... ugh~ What?!?! Doesn't any of OUR commits like Hodges and Kersey talk to this kid? I mean both of these kids finally realized that the Rutgers program isn't what its cracked up to be. Most likely they realize that Schiano has a better chance of leaving in the next 3 to 4 years than Joepa! If he needs to be in contact with anyone its should be those two, not the numbnut 4 star QB going to Rutgers. (was that too harsh?)
- Noel... I read one tid-bit about this kid. All I know is he was going to commit to BC but is waiting and giving State his last careful consideration before he makes his final decision. I don't know anything about this guy... anyone know more? He's listed at 6'4 and runs a 4.48... wow.
In reality, even without any of these guys State has done extremely well imop, however, WR corp is in much need of a big-time talent for the future... we need a backup plan in case Zug decides to go in the draft next year. ZUG DON'T GO!
Say it ain't so... Lanford?
Scout.com (Fight on State) has Lanford Collins committed to VaTech! Man~ when did this happen? I really thought we had a solid shot with this kid. IMOP we really could have used a solid DE prospect this year. I don't think we even got one, unless they're thinking of possibly converting Stanley to DE (not likely). Is LaLota completely out of our picture? Does anyone have more news on this? Am I over-reacting about our DE situation... maybe... I like Crawford, Latimore and Still, but still think we'll still need some youger candidates to take over.
