From RotoWorld: According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, if Chris Duffy isn't traded "there is a great chance he will open next season" at Triple-A. The newspaper reports that the Pirates' "new management wants to see him demonstrate his health, as well as a consistent level of play ... before giving him another sustained chance in Pittsburgh." A career .269/.328/.361 hitter in 193 games, Duffy could be an attractive low-cost option for teams that need center field help.

Talk about a possible low risk / high return candidate... He hasn't exactly killed the ball in the bigs (314 AB in '06, 241 in '07), but he always hit for average in the minors with good OPS numbers. He can run pretty well and would still be cheap enough to keep around on the bench when Schafer is ready. Thoughts?

The Braves just shipped Villarreal off to Houston for OF Josh Anderson:

Anderson (AA) 132 G, 513 AB, 2 HR, 43 RBI, 40 SB
         (HOU)21 G, 67 AB, 0 HR, 11 RBI, 1 SB

Looks like he can run a bit, and the defensive numbers don't look bad (nor all that good) at first glance. Perhaps he's a stopgap (and a cheap one) that could turn into more? Hit .309 at AA in '06, but with an OPS of .666. :-(
