Free Agents
There are tons of free agents available that can help our team in many ways, but the management seems to think 2009 doesn't matter. I for one am very pissed off it looks like we are blowing off this season and just trying to fast track our team to 2010. It almost looks like we are NOT trying to compete purposely in order to have a high draft pick for the next draft, which would be even more leverage to land big name prospects in 2010. I don't know about you, but I hate to lose. It hurts my soul. Anything I can do to prevent it, I do. So when it comes to our 2009 squad, why are we not doing more to land the "bigger"-named guys in this Free Agent class.
Here are a few I think could help out our team a lot. What do you all think of these players?
Why is nobody pissed that we aren't going after RASHEEEEEEEEEEEEED!?!?!?! Yeah, I said it.
Just imagine this lineup being announced...
At PG, Suuuuuuuper Mario Chalmersss...At SG, Ddddddwayne Waaaade... At SF, Michael Beastttttttttttley...
At PF Rasheed Walllllllllllace... And At C, Jermaine OOOOOOOOOOOO'Neal! haha I like the sound of this.
Do I even need to say what Rasheed would bring to our team? Just about everything we lack (Front court help, rebounding, blocking, 3 pt shooters, and a veteran presence). Like Artest, nobody can argue he has a great basketball IQ, he just gets a little too fired up on the court sometimes, but I for one love that. I like people who leave it all on the court. Wade is one of those dudes. He always gives it his all.
Paul Millsap - I have a lot of manlove for this dude. He carried my fantasy team front court for a lot of the season. He is such a hustler and a great defender/rebounder. Not to mention, he had more than a couple double doubles so we can score pretty well (I think better than Haslem, especially deep inside the lane). Jermaine wouldn't have to work so hard on D, so with more energy, he would be able to contribute more on offense. Wade wouldn't have to lead the team in blocks again. I just love this Millsap dude.
David Lee - a solid PF. A definite upgrade at PF. He is a Knick so that is all I will say.
Hedo Turkoglu - He is a great shooter, especially from distance, and as you all know we don't have many 3 pt threats. At SF, he could be some damage. He would take a huge load off Wade's shoulders offensively. His defense is actually not too bad either. He made a lot of clutch blocks of Lebron in that Eastern Conference Final.
Honorable Mentions: Grant Hill, Antonio McDyess, Anderson Varejao, Ramon Sessions, Marcin Gortat

Possible Draft Picks
Along with many of you, I am get very antsy with the draft being Thursday. Although I would love for us to trade up and get a first round pick, the closer we get to draft, the slimmer the chances of that happening get. I went through the list of prospects for the upcoming draft and cannot make a decision on who I want the Heat to pick up. Of course, we have many needs, but I always believe you should draft the best possible player available. Sometimes, that just happens to help your depth chart also. Here is a list a possible people at our picks (43 & 60). Let me know what you think about these guys and the possibility of them wearing a heat jersey. If you have any others that I missed, definitely mention those also.
For pick 43 (13th in 2nd Round):
My pick: Josh Heytvelt (Gonzaga): A very underrated player. Similar to Memhet Okur. Good 3pt shooter for a 6'11 guy. Great FG/3pt shooting %. Good rebounder and very tough. Would be a great pickup. Our frontcourt is slacking and it would be nice to add some depth to it.
Derrick Brown (Xavier): If he falls to us, it would be a great pick up at 43.
Wayne Ellington (Duke): Another unlikely option, but would be great at SF next to Wade.
Toney Douglas (FSU): I really like this dude... I go to FSU and have seen him play too many games to count. He has heart. He is so clutch. Just like Al Thornton, he is very underrated. If he falls to us, I would love for the heat to pick this guy up. Mario and Toney could do some damage.
Jack McClinton (UM): One of the best shooters in the draft. One of our biggest needs is 3pt shooting.
Danny Green (UNC): Might be a nice SF next to Wade. I watched him play verse FSU a bunch of times in person and he was pretty solid. Very versatile. Very athletic. Good shooter, but streaky.
Other possibilities: Paul Harris (Syracuse), Dante Cunningham (Villanova), Jeff Adrien (UConn), Jeff Pendergraph (Arizona), Dionte Christmas (Temple), Tyrese Rice (BC), Tyler Hansborough (UNC), Jerel McNeal (Marquette), Damion Jones (Texas)
For Pick 60 (30th in 2nd Round):
Who knows? Well, let's give it a shot.
Jeff Adrien, Dionte Christmas, Damion Jones, Hansborough, Cunningham, and Pendergraph may some how still be available. But that is unlikely.
My pick: Goran Suton. If you saw this guy play against the best competition in the NCAA while in the tourney, you know this guy can play. He plays within himself. He has a good basketball IQ. And he can shoooooot. Another guy similar to Memhet Okur. Solidify the frontcourt!
Other possibilities include: Leo Lyons (Missouri), Robert Dozier (Memphis), Michael Washington (Arkansas), Lee Cummard (BYU), Jeremy Pargo (Gonzaga), Greivis Vasquez (Maryland)
Like I said before, I just want all of your opinions. So if you know any I missed please say something, along with commenting on what you think about the ones I did mention.
Juan Pierre to the Fish?
When Manny Ramirez comes back from his suspension, Juan Pierre is going to be seeing a lot of time on the bench. Cody Ross is just not the answer for our CF problems. We need someone who can be a stolen base threat, hit for a good average, has a good eye, and has great range. Who thinks we should trade for JP or someone of similar talents?Anybody have anyone in mind? What/Who would you be willing to give up?
