Clips Nation Clips Nation ESPN Fantasy League

Some of us missed out on the first league created a couple of weeks ago, so I've set up a second league on ESPN for anyone still interested. It's closer to the start of the season, and we've got more new people around since the trade, so I'm hoping it fills up in time.

The details:

I kept it pretty basic. It will be 10 teams and the scoring will be Head-to-head categories (points, steals, rebounds, blocks, assists, field goal %, free throw %, and 3-pointers made). Rosters will consist of 13 players (1 PG, 1 SG, 1 SF, 1 PF, 1 C, 1 G, 1 F, 3 UTIL, and 3 on the Bench).

*Note: I made this a Keeper League. I've never tried it before, so I figured it might be fun for us. You'll be able to keep one of your current players for next year's team.

If you're interested, just post or send me your email, and I'll send you an invite. The draft is set for Saturday, December 24th at 10:00 PM ET.

I was never strongly for or against hiring VDN, but Dwyer seems very upset. I get the feeling that Dwyer doesn't really know anything about Casey though. It all sounds like he heard about some dude that keeps getting passed over for jobs by VDN, then decided to lash out against VDN. Quotes like this helped form my opinion: "Dwane Casey wins. He wins pretty, he wins ugly, and he still doesn't have a head job." Pretty sure Casey has a sub .500 head coaching record. Maybe that's what "wins ugly" means?

Adrian Wojnarowski talking about teams searching for new coaches next season. On Byron Scott clashing with Baron Davis: "Byron will get over that fast. He really wants that job."

If you'd like to force-feed the rest of the country another Clips vs. Bucks game on ESPN, then vote for it. Voting ends on Friday. Voting is currently at 53% for PHX vs CHI, 39% for LAC vs MIL, and the others are not even close.

I sure didn't think Kidd was on the short list of possible replacements. Maybe it's because he doesn't have to fly into Dallas?

"I got to go out and get back to being my old self now," [Baron] Davis told Yahoo! Sports. "Coach Kim is going to allow me to be a little bit freer and play off instincts. So, I just got to get back to that mentality. From there, I think everything else will take care of itself."

Spears basically says the pressure is solely on Baron Davis after the coaching change. It might take a little bit of time to adjust the offense to something more suitable, but at least Dunleavy's controlling nature isn't an excuse any longer.

Clips Nation Negativity

Hi everyone. This is my first post on either this or ClipperBlog, but I've been a lurker on both blogs for about 2 years now. I've been a Clipper fan for about 10 years, and a pessimist for a little longer than that. However, even I am astounded at the amount of negativity around here after the news broke earlier today concerning Griffin's injury. I'll chalk a lot of it up to just being an initial reaction to terrible news, but it seems as though some people are ready to jump ship even after thinking it through.

As stated before, I'm a bit of a pessimist. Before the season began, I had the team (with Griffin) pegged to win somewhere between 35-40 games this season, which we all know is likely not enough to make the playoffs in the West. Fast-forward to today, and the team stands at 17-19 with a game against NO in a few minutes. Assuming the team loses the next 3 games (and I'm not so sure tonight is a guaranteed loss even without Kaman/Camby), we'll be 17-22 with games against the Nets and Bulls at home next week. Realistically, we could be 19-22 at the halfway mark for the season, equaling our win total for all of last season, and keeping us on pace for that 35-40 win range.

Some of you had higher hopes for this season, but this is right on line with what I thought this team could accomplish. And this is all happening without Blake Griffin. It's a sad day to be a Clipper fan, indeed. However, this is not the day for the team or fans to call it quits on the season. I'm not too familiar with the optimistic side of life, but I'll venture into unknown territory by proclaiming that this team has a good shot at making the playoffs regardless of what I thought before the season began. This "curse" will never be broken if players and fans continue to dwell on it. It's time to check your negativity-coats at the door. Instead continue supporting a team that has been playing great lately and finally showing what they can do. As a great man once said, "let's go Clippers! Let's go!"
