The Reason They Are Called Mock Drafts
A philosophical moment ... if you will
I am beginning to believe the reason why the name "mock" is attached to drafts is to define the attitude of many toward the actual people responsible for the drafting of players and the players themselves. I used to think that the anticipation and review of draft picks was basically harmless entertainment. Analysis and speculation can stretch the mind. With the increasing 24/7 analysis (can you increase 24/7???) of the NFL draft I find comments and attitudes about real live people - not fantasy or fictitious people - that really make me wonder how harmless this is. The actual harm may not be to the coaches, the players or the management. It may be to the one who "mocks".
Thank you to all who may have a different opinion than the choices that are made but are willing to wait and see what will happen. Thank you for all who intelligently discuss what has happened and refuse to "mock" or take the opportunity for another potshot at McDaniels, players or your favorite scapegoat for life's frustrations. It is times like these that I miss the calm, collected viewpoint of the old "Voice of the Broncos", Bob Martin.
