WHAT was Danny thinking or WAS Danny Thinking?
I have to assume that (a) he hasn't lost his mind; (b) no one has incriminating evidence against him. So there is likely a second shoe or two to drop.
I LOVE Perk, but that said he has a lot of liabilities. I think Danny feels that (a) with Perk contributing very little, the C's have amassed a pretty good first half; (b) they beat Miami THREE times. Also Perk is kind of turnover prone and can't get a big rebound in the last few minutes because of his FT shooting he will be on the bench.
I'm sure the idea that they couldn't resign Perk and that they LOVE Glen Davis made them roll the dice and figure they'll manage in the middle.
Jeff Green CAN play! Let's hope he's the answer to the backup for Pierce and the defender of 3's at 6'9"
Lucky to get tickets?
OK I saw there was an American Express pre-sale for Celtics' home games. I got some (relatively) expensive Club Level seats but can't find the view on celtics.com. Anyone know where these are? While they are expensive, you might wind up paying a premium on StubHub or other site. Anyway my wife and I are taking Amtrak to Boston and rooting for the home team for a change! HOw much fun is that? Also staying at a nice hotel, eating seafood. Drinking. drinking some more. Maybe drinking a bit more.
Can't Doc Prescribe....
Some sort of end of period play that does not involve (a) ISO (b) dribbling out the clock? I just don't understand how a savvy, veteran team with so many options keeps throwing away a couple of possessions every night. I realize that last night's game was unlikely to be won, but for a long time the C's hung around. Ray's subpar night didn't help and his clunking a technical FT followed by Rondo's running out the clock kept the halftime lead at 8 when it could have been 4 or 5, a hunge psychologiacl difference.
To digress, Nate had a wide-open three that he missed with the lead at 9 and tons of time remaining. Then Nelson walked into a long three that effectively ended any chances for the good guys.
Thibs Thread that Just Struck me
No one has mentioned this but it occurred to me that some of the C's defensive problems may be due to Thibodeau's being distracted by the contract he was reputedly offered to coach the Hornets. It's a theory anyway. I know that the players should be up to speed by this point of the season, but all of a sudden they can't figure out the Magic offense? Of course that doesn't account for the prayers from 3 point land with the shot clock expiring.
Not really house money
"Conventional wisdom" would be that the C's have already accomplished what they need to in order to win this series. I respectfully disagree. I think that Orlando is resilient and, not unlike the C's, has a variety of weapons, both offensive and defensive.
Before the Cleveland series, I opined that Boston would have to win more than one on the road and I think the same holds true in this current series. In fact, I think the C's relaxed a tiny bit after Game 2 in Cleveland and got torched.
When the Celtics are healthy, aggressive and focused, I think they are actually the best team in the NBA. Anything less and they are clearly mortal as losses to the less-than-elite 76ers, Wizards and (?) NETS have proven.
Losing tonight's game will certainly not be fatal but I think it will bring us back to Orlando tied at 2. Winning, on the other hand, would make even a cockeyed pessimist like myself think about basketball in June.
