Could be a great fit if Fredi was told to bury the hatchet with Han-Ram to make this team better now. What would it take to get a player like this from the Fish?

As a 2010 second round draft pick for the Atlanta Braves, Simmons began his first full professional season in 2011 with the Hillcats as the team's starting shortstop. Drafted for his glove and arm at first, Simmons was motivated to show what he could do at the plate. While batting primarily first or second in the order, Simmons led the Carolina League in hits and at-bats, and captured the batting title with a .311 clip. He was the only qualifying hitter to bat over .300 in the league. His 35 doubles placed second in the circuit.

Talking Chop Manny is an Option

Manny would be the bat that will take us to the WS!!!  Diaz/Hinske have been awful in August could atleast use another chipper type bat in the line up.  When Manny is healthy and on the field  he has raked at the plate this season.  The important part  of this that Manny has no trade clause though I do believe if FW has the Nuts to pull this off that Manny will be a well behaved  in the clubs (A reason he would waive his no trade clause to come to the braves). The braves have a history in bring checkered  past players that have done nothing but play productive baseball with no issues. Bottom line is at that you could get another middle of the order bat at 1.1M for this year  to make a serious run for a WS in bobby cox last year.  Manny is not a big drop off from Hinske/Diaz in LF defensively but could be a mass force at the plate.  In the NL there is no really clear cut favor but having Manny in this lineup for the rest of the year is MORE than worth a shot to win it all the way...

Would you want Manny on this team for the stretch run?

However, about three-quarters of his salary is deferred And were to acquire Ramirez, they would owe him only $1.1 million for the rest of this season and about $3.3 million in deferred salary.

About three quarters of Ramirez’s salary is deferred, so he makes just $1.1MM between now and the end of the season despite his hefty $20MM salary. Ramirez earns the remaining $3.4MM in deferred payments, which would presumably make his salary easier to absorb.

Good signing for a bat off the bench and gives insurance for Glaus at 1B

This will be great news if the Bosox signs Lackey to 4-5 yr deal at 16M+ which will give the braves some leverage in trading lowe without eat any significant salary. Things could happen fast before the end of the year in the dominoes falling for shipping lowe out and working on getting acouple bats..

Braves non-tender Kelly Johnson (and Ryan Church, but he was already DFA'd anyway)

Talking Chop Trades in the Works?

Mark Bowman recently talked with Frank Wren regarding potential trades happening with the surplus of Arms at his disposal. Which several teams have inquiried about available starting pitching and bullpen arms to trade for. I believe that we will be seeking out  3B/MI prospects to give the farm some depth in which is badly needed. The 25 man roster is pretty much set at this point and I can't see a trade that would be for a MLer in return. So what kind of trade value would a Campillo/Bennett/Carlyle/Acosta could fetch in return? And could we add additional prospects to get a top end 3B in return? The Braves will have all the leverage once we get closer to opening day with pitching being a premium and teams getting more despert to fill out rosters with ML ready pitchers.  Who would you want to get in return in any trade that Wren may pull off? Here is a few prospects that could be on the radar for the braves.

Neil Walker

Neftali Soto

Todd Frazier

Matt Dominguez

Taylor Green

"But at the same time, the luxury of having an overabundance of Major League-ready arms puts Wren in a position where he could improve his organizational strength by moving at least one of his pitchers. Jeff Bennett, Buddy Carlyle, Manny Acosta and Jorge Campillo appear to be the most expendable pitchers who could provide some value on the trade market. But while Wren has the means to improve his club via trade, he doesn't exactly have a glaring need on his Major League roster."

Talking Chop Abreu Signs with the Angels 5Mil

According to SI.com's Jon Heyman, the Angels and Bobby Abreu reached an agreement on a one-year deal worth a little more than $5MM plus incentives.

Abreu, 35 in March, hit .296/.371/.471 in 684 plate appearances for the Yankees last year while playing poor defense.  He earned $16MM in '08, and many questioned Brian Cashman's decision not to offer arbitration to Abreu, a Type A free agent.  The decision was wise, as Abreu ended up taking a 69% pay cut in base salary.  At the beginning of the offseason, most people expected Abreu to get multiple years and at least $10MM per.

Man I just don't know what to say in not getting this guy for 5 Mil plus incentives....

A missed opportunity, now to move on to the other options Swisher or Luke via trade market...

Or Maybe stil....

Dunn

Chico Harlan of the Washington Post was told by an agent Monday that believes Adam Dunn "will get a max of $5MM per year."

"Anything more than that and I'd be surprised," added the unnamed agent. Dunn is reportedly still seeking a four-year, $56MM deal. Harlan notes that there are no big market teams in the running and he's highly unlikely to get those desired figures. "That's why Dunn just might end up in Washington, the one team that unequivocally wants the guy," the report concludes.
