Friday Football Hatefest!

Oh, football. Thank God you have returned. Now my work week can be filled with hate-filled emails among my friends and I can waste countless hours on my fantasy team. I'll be surprised if I get any work done until January. This column will be a look ahead at NFC South games and whatever else NFL-wise that interests me; mostly filled with hate but not always.

Wasn't it awesome when all those teams crap-canned their offensive coordinators right before the season started? Best part: Saints get to play two of the teams! Tampa fired Jeff Jagodzinski apparently because he didn't have a clue as to how to actually install an NFL offense. Tampa is going to be a car fire. Raheem Morris botched his most important hire as head coach. The Bucs actually have some talent and I fully expect the Glazer family to correct this disaster after the season. Until then, let's all enjoy the suck. The only downside is going to be having to listen to Cowboy fans run their fat mouths after the Boys destroy Tampa. Grgh.

Epic Fail 2009 NFC South Edition

"It is not enough to succeed. Others must fail." - Gore Vidal.

Of course we all want the Saints to be awesomely awesome this year. After watching them behead the Oakland Raiders, clearly a Super Bowl is coming. In order for this to happen, however, other teams need to struggle, stink, have general incompetence or be coached by Josh McDaniels.

I want any team from the NFC not named the Saints to fail miserably.

There, I said it. Of course, wishing all teams except the Saints to suffer massive injury would make this column really short and could bring karmic retribution. But if Steve Smith went missing for 6-8 weeks because aliens may or may not have abducted him, I wouldn't lose any sleep. So instead of a standard NFL preview with predictions that will surely be wrong, I give you Epic Fail NFC South: A look at ways all the NFC South teams could run head long into disaster which we, as Saints fans, would surely enjoy.

Hate Fest 2009

Oh, you probably thought I was gone or perhaps Dave sent me away and you would never have to deal with my angry female Saints fan rants again. Not even. I just took a little break from writing because my bosses at work expect me to do actual work and really what can you write about during mini-camps anyway besides, "New defense looks awesome in shorts!"; "Drew Brees still sexy as hell and $#%^& awesome!"

Yawn.

So now I'm back and once training camp starts there will be plenty more chances for you to say how much you loathe me. Fantastic right? This brings me to my topic this week: Hate.

Sure, pretty soon you'll be reading about storylines to watch during camp or five breakout players for 2009. I have my own list: Possible players/Saints coaches that by the end of 2009 we'll hate so much we'll wish they'd go missing, die or get traded to the Lions because of all the pain they'll inflict upon us during the upcoming season. This list doesn't mean I think 2009 will suck but there will be at least one or two Saints players/coaches whose craptastic play we'll be going crazy over, even if the Saints have an awesome season. Does Fred Thomas in 2006 ring a bell? Let's dive right in and see who we might hate come the fall.

New Orleans Saints Media Coverage is a Rotting Fish

I’ll just begin by saying my sadness last week about Stanley Arnoux’s injury is gone. It’s replaced by anger. WWL 870am told Gus Kattengell to sleep with the fishes. So now we’ll have one less decent reporter covering the Saints.

Fantastic.

Media coverage of the Saints just continues to circle the bowl. I understand that 870am is in the last year of their contract with the Saints and have basically stopped saying, reporting or even thinking anything critical of the Saints in hopes of signing another contract. Hey, I’m all about self-preservation too so I get why they do what they do. I mean, if WWL 870am didn’t carry Saints games would you have any reason to listen at all? I’ll be completely honest, the only show on 870am I listen to is Monday night during the season because I like Mike Detillier and even he didn’t seem to hammer the Saints too hard last year. Hell, he didn’t even report any inside info after Drew Brees and Jeremy Shockey got into it when Atlanta housed the Saints. Something he used to do all the time when Buddy D was around. I think Deke Bellavia should just get it over with and wear a Saintsation outfit to Sean Payton’s Monday press conferences (or maybe not).

Counting on Dan Morgan Scares the Crap Out of Me. An Un-Loyal Saints Fan and Proud of it.

Yes, the flaming car crash that a fair amount of you believe this column to be is back. The cat-loving, foul-mouthed rants will continue. If you are looking for stats, game breakdowns, and hardcore Saints articles Dave and the crew cover that ground and why improve on perfection? My column will always be different. I'm here to push, question, possibly annoy. But mostly try to get you to laugh, think and discuss. So far I'm batting a thousand.
