Angels' Dirty Laundry

Here's a pretty good article from the LA Times about the seamstress/launderer for the Halos. It's kinda sad... She does so much, but she only makes $10.70/hour. And doesn't get tipped by the players at the end of the season... Jerks.

LA Times

I think it's worth the read... I won't see their uniforms the same anymore.

Hopefully the players read this and appreciate what she does for them. :)

I don't know how many people have seen/heard/read about this, but it's pretty darn funny, so I thought I'd share it!

Here's a link to the stories:

OC Register
(There are other versions on LA Times and the Angels Website, too)

Basically, as a Spring Training prank/laugh, Scioscia got a hold of Lackey's report card from his last semester @ his community college. He got an "A" in a class called "Country Pop and Rock," but he failed algebra.

So later, Scioscia called Lackey's mom (who happens to be a teacher) on a speaker phone in the clubhouse w/ everyone listening as part two of the joke.

As for part three, Scioscia got an ASU student to come and give them a college sophomore algebra test for Lackey to take. And Willits, Q, and Mathis (along with partners) will be taking the test, too. The test is due tomorrow, so we should be hearing about the results then!

Coping in the Offseason

Hey there fellow HH'ers!

Just thought I'd share what I did in the offseason...

For my Drawing class, we had to chose objects that represent us in some way, take a picture of it, print it in black and white, and draw it on a bigger piece of paper. Naturally, I chose one of my Angels caps and a baseball. :)

This first image is the drawing. It's all in pencil, and is about 18 in. x 24 in.

This image is the original photo I took; it's on an 8 in. x 10 in. paper.

Sorry these images didn't come out great... my digital camera sucks. Both the photo and the drawing looks better in person. But, let me know what you guys think! :)

Kotch's Illness

So, it looks like Kotch came down with another mystery illness and had to be hospitalized... They don't know if it was related to what Mike Butcher had, but it must have been pretty serious if he needed to be hospitalized...

Here are some links to stories:

PressEnterprise.com

Gosh, that guy just can't catch a break...

Padilla

Guess who got tossed in the first inning of his game today! That's right, our good old friend Vincente Padilla! He was pitching inside on Nick Swisher in the bottom of the 1st, and finally hit him on a 3-2 count, Swisher charged the mound, and the benches cleared.

Apparently Swisher was tearing the Rangers up in the previous games of the series (he homered in the first three games), so they hit threw at him a couple times, and Padilla didn't waste any time in his start today.

Both Swisher and Padilla were ejected. Here is the link to the article. Texas won 11-9.

Gosh, what is Padilla's problem? Dude's got issues...

...But then again, who cares? "They gone!"
