What happened to Jay Edwards?
I see the DTN sho all about the 89 B11 basketball season where Iowa, IU, Michicgan and Illinois all had great teams. IU was of course led by Jay Edwards who was the Freshman of the year the previous year. In 89 he was named the Conference player of the year and averaged over 20 pts a game. I vaguely remembered Jay because I grew up on the Iowa-Illinois border, so I looked him up. He was taken in the second round of the NBA which shocked me because he seemed like a great player. Then he only played in a handful of NBA games, and the bio ends. What happened to Jay Edwards basketball career? Where is he now?
Fran allegedly texting while urinating
Go to the link and page down to the NCAA coverage. Apparently the writer saw Fran texting while taking care of business at the urinal at Lucas Oil Stadium. This could be a sign of good things to come from McCaffrey.
Girls Generation Translation
All right people, I have a couple of Korean friends, so I asked one of them to watch the video on youtube and this is what she said:
There you have it. Sorry for ruining your hopes and dreams of a meaningful Iowa reference.Omg, i can't believe you just subjected me to 3 minutes of listening to that crap, that's 3 minutes I'll never get back.
well, they are singing to some guy saying how they love him and hope he doesn't see them/her as just a little sister type. They seem to be repeating the words, "i love you much" over and over.. and why not, who needs real lyrics. I don't think there's a significance to why they have an Iowa helmet. I think they were doing the whole school, cheerleading theme and picked an Iowa football helmet. Nothing in the song eludes to that particular school. Korea always does that though, they pick random schools or sports team to use as props, no telling why.
Don't try this at home. Or anywhere for that matter.
I have nothing to say about this. Not even sure why I posted it.

8 and Oh After Sparty: Ode to the 2009-10 Hawkeye Football Team
We’ve never been here before
It feels like a dream
8 and oh and after Sparty
What does it mean?
The defense was clicking
The O made me weep
Sparty took away Tony
And DJK deep
It was no garden party for
Sandy, Greeny, and Dace
But The Clayborn Supremacy
Planted Cousins’ face
Hook laddered and battered
KOK in a rut
Fourth and seven, two seconds
Stanzi slant to McNutt
My kids were asleep
So quietly I danced
Two things in my head
Beer and blackheartgoldpants
8 and oh after Sparty
Despite all our issues
My dick is still hard
I need lotion then tissues.
Fourth in the BCS
Cincy, Boise were bucked
If we win out now
Mac and Texas are fucked
Two weeks then the Horseshoe
Can’t afford any falls
Note to T. Pryor
T. Sash wants your balls (no homo)
To Captain Kirk and the Hawkeyes
Raise a glass, give a cheer
Beyond Brew!!! And the Gophers!!!
Lies the Final Frontier

Roy Marble Sr. Does It Again
It happened in the NBA and it happened in Cedar Rapids. Roy Marble Sr. loses a job due to alleged drug use.
Lets hope Roy Marble Jr. handles this like Daryl Strawberry Jr.
Lickliter has got to go
Bob Kelly, Jake Kelly's father, has told a Terre Haute, Indiana newspaper that his son asked for and was given his release from Iowa. Bob Kelly said that Jake wanted to be closer to home following the June 2008 death of his mother. Indiana State, in the Missouri Valley Conference, is where Bob Kelly said Jake would like to play, which is in Terre Haute. Jake has several aunts and uncles in that area, including grandparents and other family members. Attempts by HawkeyeNation.com to reach Kelly on Thursday evening have been unsuccessful. More on this story coming soon. The fear felt by many Hawkeye fans hearing Jake Kelly’s name pop up in transfer rumors this winter were put to rest by Kelly earlier this month. It’s time to start worrying again. HN.com Senior Writer Rob Howe spoke with Kelly Wednesday morning, and the Iowa sophomore neither confirmed nor denied the possibility of transferring. It marked a significant change from the beginning of March when he was asked about leaving Iowa City: “I mean, yeah, of course I considered it when my mom died (last summer),” Kelly said on March 9. “I definitely considered that. That’s probably where (the rumors came) from, but I’m here and this is where I’m going to be.” When asked the same question on Wednesday, Kelly responded with “I really can’t say right now.” He was then asked if there was a possibility he might transfer, and he said “I’d really rather not talk about it right now.” Kelly then said he would be able to say something on the subject soon. He confirmed that he would likely discuss it by early next week at the latest. The sophomore stepped in as point guard when classmate Jeff Peterson went down midway through the Big Ten season. Kelly paced the team in scoring at 11.6 PPG, which was aide greatly by his offensive surge down the stretch. He earned honorable mention all-Big Ten honors. |

Big Ten Tourney
I am going to the Big Ten Tournament on Friday night (session 3) to see a couple of games. The first is Illinois v. the winner of Iowa/Michigan and the second is Purdon't v. the winner of IU/Penn State. I have not seen my Hawkeyes play live in several years so I am hoping that they win their first round game. I feel that with Cyrus Tate we are a different team, and that we could actually make some "noise" in this tourney. I hope so, because it will be the last tourney we play in until next year.
I live in Indianapolis, so I see Butler regularly and can't help to think that Lickliter shorted us a bit. Why didn't we get some of those players? Matt Howard and Gordon Heyward should be in the gold and black. Why are they ranked 17 and we can't get even get in the NIT? Do we have any big men to replace Tate next year, or are we going to go with an all guard lineup? Lickliter - You have some 'splain'in to do!
And by the way shouldn't BHGP have some basketball t-shirts? I can't wear the Stanzi shirt to a basketball game. Come on guys.
Garcia To Start
[I thought everyone knew this already, but whatevs.--OPS]
http://www.thehawkeye.com/Story/OutbackBowl-123008-sidebar
The South Carolina redshirt freshman quarterback earned the starting nod over sophomore Chris Smelley for Thursday's game, which is played at Raymond James Stadium, almost next door to Jefferson High School, where Garcia played prep football.
Garcia played in seven games this season, starting two of them for the Gamecocks.
Garcia presents a double challenge for defenses. He has passed for 753 yards and six touchdowns, completing 53.8 percent of his passes.
