Every once in a while I go back and watch some Tyson fights, recently I re-watched his vlog with Dana White in which

Tyson states how much Cus D'amato emphasised the importance of being exciting. It got me thinking, other than the big 2 - Pacquiao and Mayweather, who has a style that is very unique?

I genuinely ask because looking back in history you can name fighters in each era who possess a style that is unique to them, a style that for a time atleast seems unbeatable. Ali ofcourse had unconventional speed for a HW, had amazing movement. Tyson had his ability to fight in the pocket with fast combinations and his ability to seemingly dodge all sorts of punches using his amazing head movement.

There have been more and like I said Pacquiao and Maywather (And even fighters like Marquez) are very unique. Do you think we'll soon see any new fighters who almost break the mould in that their styles are something we haven't seen before and are unique to them?

The above basically. I think every sport has a form of corruption however little it may be. It seems though that Boxing is the only sport where it's perfrectly fine for corruption to thrive. Its like corruption has been part of the sport and fans have been fine with that.

Now this Pacquiao decision occurs and i'm just like wow, didn't catch the fight yesterday but had it ready to watch, as soon as i heard of the robbery i switched it off, utterly ridiculous. My beloved sport Football (Soccer) has some corruption but that is ALWAYS revealed and uprooted from the game. Boxing, not so much.

ON TOP OF THE CORRUPTION, Boxing hasn't even provided us with the fight we all want, PBF and Pacman's fight ofcourse.

With MMA growing i think my viewing of Boxing will slow down, it's not even that i hate the sport, i love it but this corruption and the lack of any action, coupled with not giving us the fights we want is just becoming seriously stupid now.

Sorry for the rants, what's your opinion?

How does the PRIDE compare to present day UFC?

Sadly, i started getting into MMA when PRIDE was finished, meaning i missed out on all of the epicness it provided. However, i have gone back and watched some of the fights etc and i must say everything about it seems so amazing, the atmosphere, the fighters, the entrances, the Japanese-ness of it all and even the ring lol

As a total package, PRIDE seemed amazingly entertaining, i mean, who doesn't find this fantastic?!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcybkaN2Zqk

My question though is that how do you think current day UFC compares to PRIDE at its best? Right now the UFC IMO is also doing wonderful things, for the most part putting the best fighters together with interesting fights on almost every card, how do you think they compare?

Why do people watch MMA for masterful striking?

After some of the reaction concerning the Diaz-Condit fight, it just got me wondering, why do people watch MMA for striking? I'm not gonna lie, in terms of MMA i'm still abit of a noob at the moment, ive watched much more boxing, but when i watch MMA i don't get overly excited by the striking, and ofcourse, why would they box as well as actual boxers. What gets me more excited is the submissions and the use of TDs and transitions, it's something different from MMA

I know that MMA is Mixed Martial Arts so striking is a big big part of it but for some reason ive got it tuned that the TDs, grappling and all the rest of it is more 'MMA' than boxing is. I also understand that the striking can be exciting for some people, (like i said, it excites me but not OVERLY, simply because if i want masterful striking, or slugging, or people just throwing punches for a whole night, i can just watch boxing for that

This whole post is gonna sound silly to alot of people, but maybe we can discuss...

PS - My take on the Condit fight was that he did well, executing a good gameplan, to be honest, i saw IKilled007's post and he didn't seem too happy with the manner of the fight, i see where he's coming from ofcourse but at the same time it's easy for us lol, were watching the fight, for Condit, any form of trading couldve been disastrous, and at the end of the day, him losing wouldnt affect us in any way, so ofcourse we can moan but he's actually in the situation, if that makes sense

Amidst yet another Mayweather vs Pacquiao saga, which will probably end with the 2 not fighting once again, i look back in Boxing and ask, was it easier to set up fights between rivals before?

Case in point, Benn and Eubank

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CO-jsOiJfxs&feature=related

I mean, could you even fathom something like this happening between Pacquiao and PBF? In the video, it's clear both fighters want nothing else but to just have a ruck, and unlike those HBO videos the hate here is clearly genuine, they aren't sitting on chairs the wrong way or anything

Ofcourse, other fights around the time didn't occur, for example, neither Benn or Eubank fought Jones or Toney but so many fighters in the particular weight class seemed fine with fighting each other. Rightly so IMO, it's crazy that in a SPORT called BOXING, the boxing can come second to money

Well what do you guys think, was it easier to establish fights between rivals than now?

PS, just lol at Eubank and 'parliamentary procedure'

Recently i watched the McClellan vs Benn fight documentary on ITV, it was unsurprisingly very interesting, however one point which stood out was the statement made by McClellan's ex coach. The guy basically stated that McClellan was the most violent boxer to put on the gloves. It got me thinking, who is the most violent boxer every to fight?

I think all boxers have some degree of violence, ofcourse to take part in such a sport you need it. However some clearly are more violent, i'll nominate Tyson, not as the most violent EVER, but as the most violent i know of.

Who would you guys say is the most violent boxer ever?

Also, Merry Christmas everyone, hope you have a very very enjoyable day!

Why box?

It may seem like a silly question - Infact i would say it is indeed abit of a silly question. However, why do you think anyone would choose to box? Numerous boxers have varying reasons for picking up the sweet science, but why would one want to indulge in what is a pretty brutal sport.

I mean, the amount of punch drunk fighters there have been, or worse, fighters that have been left wheelchair ridden due to the sport - Does this not put people off boxing?

When the objective is to bring pain to another human, i find it really weird that so many people still want to box. Obviously i understand that in some circumstances, some people may have no other option, in other scenarios it's a family tradition, or just something to gain fitness.

What do you guys think, why do people choose to box? Especially when schooling gives so many options..

Btw please don't take this as a rant against boxing, i love watching it, however, sometimes it really boggles my mind as to why someone would want to face that kind of danger.
