How is it that Butler goes 20-0 in the Horizon Conference (who?) and gets a 5 seed and UTEP wins 15 in a row in the CUSA and gets a 12?

UAB: The loss to Southern Miss (RPI No. 104) is not what the Blazers needed. The Blazers were swept by both Memphis and UTEP. Within the CUSA, that puts UAB at 3rd. Although the Blazers have quality wins over Butler and Cinci, that won’t be enough. UAB is 1-3 vs. Top 50 teams.
MEMPHIS: Losing to Houston (RPI No. 141) twice this season, including the other day in the C-USA tournament only hurts. Although Memphis swept UAB, those are the only two top 50 wins on the Tigers’ resume. The losses to 4 quality teams, Kansas, Syracuse, Tennessee, Gonzaga, speak volumes.
