Vote For Syracuse As The Best Basketball Town
ESPN has a poll out http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/ asking it's college basketball fans which is the best basketball town (on the bottom right). Vote for Syracuse because (well you know) we are currently in 4th place at 17%!. Is Lawrence, Kansas really that much of a hopping town? We are also trailing Lexington, Kentucky and Chapel Hill, NC. When was the last time any of those on campus schools pulled in over 32,000 faithful!!!???

Gottlieb now has some love for the Cuse
Doug Gottlieb has finally seen the light...and it's "orange". I think most of us true hoops fans can accept constructive criticism but some people are just haters as Doug has been known to be. I think since he has actually seen us play a few times this year he now truly understands what our team is about this year in this article. http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=4891060&name=ncbexperts
Evan Turner should be player of the year? Yeah right! Paging Mr. Johnson.
Andy Glockner of cnnsi.com put up a story today that says that Evan Turner should be the player of the year in college basketball.....and it shouldn't even be close.
Now I will give credit where credit is due. He is top 5 talent and does a lot of things very well. But player of the year? Ohio state has a few (maybe several) McDonalds All-Americans on that team yet Turner carries the load and has to do it all basically for them to win. Yet they are 14-6. Maybe they would have won a game or two more if the kid didn't hurt his back but come on.
Did anyone see Syracuse as even a top 25 team before this season began? Wes Johnson doesn't have to score 25 points, get 10 rebounds, and 5+ assists just for his team to win a game. But yet the guy effortlessly puts up close to 18 pts and 10 rebounds. Can he light it up when need be? Just ask North Carolina. Does he need to have possession of the ball 34% of the time his team has the ball like Turner does? Hell no! Is Wes' game as evolved as Turner at this point in his college career? Well maybe not. But without Wes' unselfish play, pass the ball mentality, and a central piece to the great zone defense we are playing (4 blocked shots vs. G'town), would Syracuse really be 20-1? We lead the country in assists people (20 per game).
Andy Glockner, you can take your Big Ten man love and shove it! First it was John Wall this and John Wall that. Then they lose and now it's onto Turner. Does anyone watch the games anymore? We need to start campaigning now for Wes!
Bring Back # 44
Syracuse has done a real good job by bringing Marrone to Syracuse. When I went to school there in the late 80's we still had the tradition of passing on the # 44 jersey. I think we should bring it back. It's a great recruiting tool to bring in the best running back recruits to our school. Basketball doesn't have that yet but could start something with # 15 (Melo) or even # 44 (like Derrick Coleman).
