Kings vs. Wolves: Minnesota Comes Limping Into Town

A scouting report of the Minnesota Timberwolves ahead of Kings-Wolves Wednesday.

Kings vs. Grizzlies: Finally, a Measuring Stick for This Year's Team

A scouting report for Saturday night's Kings vs. Grizzlies matchup in Sacramento.

Let the rivalry commense

If you didn't get a chance to see it, our next two opponents played on NBAtv last night. With the L*kers beating Memphis 124-105 even without Andrew Bynum. And taking their record to 4-0 for this...

My thoughts on season opener

The crowd was a little late arrriving probably due to the traffic gridlock on I5 near downtown.   And for those that were late, you missed a real Kodak Moment with the presentation of Tyreke's ROY...

Nothing like Home cookin and a sold out arena.

Toronto plays their first road game after going 1-1 at home against NYK and CLE.   But, their win against Cle came when the Cav’s were without Mo Williams and Anderson Varejao.   Bargnani plays...

Not since 1974-75

If the Kings win tonight, it would be the first time the Kings won two straight road contests to open a season since 1974-75.   Last season the Kings split their two games with New Jersey, with...

KG ejected for talking to Refs

The foul that he got ejected for was against Jermaine O'Neal, who also drew a technical

Kevin Johnson on KHTK

A very positive and enthusiastic Mayor talks about the downtown Entertainment and Sports Center. He also says 2 things killed the Expo project. First the legislature failed to pass a bill to authorize the sale of the Cal Expo property at fair market value. And, second, the Expo Board wouldn't go along with the plan to move the state fair to Natomas.

Stern finds way to solve owners money problems

The owners lost over $300M last year, but they expect to make a profit this season. NEW YORK (AP) -- Technical fouls will become twice as expensive this season. The NBA informed teams that fines for technicals will double from last season's amounts in a memo, the contents of which were confirmed to The Associated Press on Friday. Players and coaches will now be docked $2,000 for each of their first five technical fouls. The costs rise to $3,000 for the next five, followed by $4,000 for Nos. 11-15. Starting at 16, players are suspended one game for every two technicals, along with $5,000 for each. The number of technicals could rise this season with the NBA seeking to halt complaining about calls. They will now call technicals for overt gestures, such as punching the air in anger, even if it's not directed at a referee. Sterne was quoted as saying, "If towns can have their cops issue more tickets to increase revenue, why can't our ref's do the same thing"

At Rookie Photo Shoot, Cousins voted Funniest

Along with being voted as the 3rd best chance of getting ROY, and 2nd in having the best career, DMC won the honors as the funniest Rookie. Way to go big fellow.

Scott Howard-Cooper not giving any love to the Kings

Six writers on NBA.COM rated the summer moves by each team in the league. Scott did the Pacific division and gave the Kings the 2nd lowest rating (C-). Only the Warriors and Cavs got a lower rating at D+ and D respectively.

It seems that the Maloofs got confused about Bill Walton working with a young center. It wasn't DeMarcus Cousins that Walton was going to coach but the Pacers Roy Hibbert.

Fans invited to VSL Practice

Groups who sign up for tickets will be invited to a July 10th summer league practice at ARCO

What the Kings need to add?

Recently I wrote a post showing that the Kings were a below average shooting team.  The Kings rank 22nd in EFG% at 49.1%, they’re a full 1% below the league average and 1.75% behind 10th place...

Cousins could be gone by #2

I say this because, I don't believe the 76ers want Turner.   Doug Collins their new coach, just meet with Andre Iguodala and his agent for 2 hours, telling him how important he thinks he is to...

Shooting Part 3

In this final part, I’ll try to tie together shooting percentages with production.   Hopefully, I can show who is productive and where the individual players need to improve their efficiency.  ...

Kings shooting Part 2

If you read Part 1, you know by now that the Kings are in the top 7 among all teams in FGM at the rim & inside 10 FT.   The 10-15 ft range is where the fewest baskets are made, only 3.0 per game on...

Where do the Kings need to improve their shooting?

This chart is the Kings FGM compared to the League Average The chart is divided into 5 ranges.   Starting from the far left, the first is at the rim,  the second is within 10 ft but away from the...

My Kings draft pick trade

Who do the Kings need and how can they get him?    Let’s look at the Draft first.   No matter who got the first pick, Wall was almost certain to get drafted first.   And, I see no reason for the...

Tyreke on NBA TV today at 4pm Pacific

2010 rookies Evans, Curry, Jennings and others are in a roundtable discussion on NBA. TV at 4pm pacific time.

Kayte Christensen Rates the Kings

Two comments on the team as well; The Kings need a two guard who can spot up and knock down shots at an alarming rate from long range And,Another piece every team in the NBA is always on the lookout for is a dominant low-post presence who can both play defense and rebound!

Donte makes Saturday's top 10

NBA.com has Tyreke's alley-oop to Donte as #2, for Saturdays top 10 plays

Rookie Retrospective: Tyreke Evans

A nice look at Evan from college to the NBA.

Kings offense is one directional

Not to be confused by one dimensional, one directional refers to the idea that the shortest distance between two points is a straight line.    The ball to the post up player or the ball to the...

Are the Kings really in a shooting slump?

HoopsData.com reports that the average FG% for the entire NBA is 45.8% and that the average 3P% is 35.2%.   So, I decided to find out where the Kings were compared to the average and here’s what I...

Do the Kings lose games at the FT line?

Looking back to Dec. 1st the Kings have a record of 6-12.   Several of those losses have been what some would call “Heartbreakers”, while others might call “Grand Thief”.  And, they’d be pointing...

Thoughts on the Kings vs Bulls game

Disclaimer:  I'm headed out and won't be able to post to TZ's Game Preview Post as usual.   So, I thought I'd comment here. With the help of my shrink, I’m finally over the Minny game.   He told...

With or without Oden, Portland is a pretty damn good team.

This is in no way an attempt to replace TZ's excellent game Previews.   I've been posting some of my thoughts in those excellent Previews, but my comments seem to be getting longer & longer, and...

Have the Kings improved since the start of the season?

Disclaimer: Post was written before the Minny game. The Kings have played 21 games, or ¼ of the season.   So, I decided to try and find out if we’re getting any better.   So here are some...
