Andre Johnson beating out Reggie Wayne in Pro Bowl voting?

As of right now, Andre Johnson leads AFC WR's in balloting, about 8,000 votes ahead of our very own All-Star Reggie Wayne. Johnson also beats the NFL's leading receiver Randy Moss. Here are the stats for all three:

Reggie Wayne - 79 Rec - 987 Yds - 12.5 Avg - 9 Td's

Andre Johnson - 63 Rec - 945 Yds - 15.0 Avg - 5 Td's

Randy Moss - 66 Rec - 992 Yds - 15.0 Avg - 8 Td's

I understand that the pro-bowl is pretty much a popularity contest and does not always represent the best in the league, But how does Johnson beat out both Wayne and Moss? Is it because he was on the cover of the ESPN Magazine? - I wouldn't be surprised.

However I do want it to be clear that I respect Andre Johnson to the fullest, he is an amazing athlete, he plays hard and never gives up for a team that has been average since it was introduced to the league, he does not cause drama in the locker room, he plays the game the way it should be played, Period.

I suppose it just bothers me that Reggie Wayne is not the leading vote ummmm...receiver? This should be his best season statistically and this years performance should be noticed for a man who's had such an incredible career.

In other Pro Bowl news, it looks like Dallas Clark is finally going to Hawaii !!!! Sorry, South Florida !!!!! Clark leads all TE's with 462,638 votes, trumping the next closest TE Tony Gonzalez who has 281,567 votes. YAYYYY

Not much substance here, but it is the first time most of us have seen this guy up close and heard his demeanor while talking.

They way I see it, there is no reason at all any Colts fan should be upset with this move. Nothing bad can come out of this whatsoever and if Baskett can prove himself and do well in Indy, maybe he stays around for more than a year. He would be the largest WR Manning has (ever had?).

I view Baskett as the Roy Hall that Polian expected, which Roy Hall himself failed to ever become.

Making room on the roster, the article doesn't say who is replacing them but I'm sure WR Taj Smith is one of them, being called up from the practice squad to give a little more WR Depth.

Shake addition: Ed Johnson's suspension is up meaning he takes one of the two open roster spots. Taj Smith (as HSK suggests) or a free agent WR will probably be the other.

This comes as a surprise to me because of how they Colts started Wheeler all pre-season, but from what I've seen it actually doesn't surprise me much. I just don't seem to remember Wheeler ever making a good tackle, as in a solo one, all preseason. I am very high on Wheeler and think he's going to be a very good linebacker, but he did not show the "it" ability this pre-season to be around the ball and make a play. It is odd how Caldwell acts so nonchalantly about the switch from Hagler to Wheeler, even stating the move was anticipated

Also officially announced in the video: Collie is the #3 Receiver for the Colts. I am not sure many are surprised by this one, Collie has outplayed Garcon this off-season. Caldwell does state that it could be a week-to-week change but I don't see that happening much. It's great to hear Collie has responded to the offense (and Peyton) so well. Looks to be a great pick and future great for the Indy!!!

Just driving back from a great late night (early morning?) meal from Denny's, I hear Paul McCartney's "Live and Let Die" which, as a Colts fan obviously brought thoughts of our own #29, RB Joseph Addai to mind.

As the offseason comes to an end, I wonder what Addai has been up to. As fans we have all posted our own thoughts on him, how good/bad he is, wheather the blame of the horrible rushing attack of '08 is to be put on Addai or the O-line, whatever....that is not the point of this post. I simply wish to know what he has been up to. I have not seen a single article about him this entire summer, not once. Does he have any response to the crowd that thinks he's to blame for the rushing game of the Colts, any reassurance to those that support him as a starter in the NFL?

Personally, I love Addai and think the job he has done protecting #18's butt the past 3 seasons makes him worthy of his 1st round selection, let alone the rushing/receiving threat he had been the 1st two seasons of his career. Put Addai in the open field, and he will make the first guy miss, seriously he's been incredible with some space to work with. But where is his heart, his drive to show that he is a Colt RB that wants to win a championship and lead the offense to a Superbowl...I know it's not his job to tell the public about his whereabouts and activities during the off season, but i've read so much about other players in the Colt's organization working hard in the weight room, speaking with jubilance of the '09 season that is contagious to us fans, that it makes me wonder what sort of mind frame Addai is in...

How much better would you feel if you read words from Addai taking the weight of the bad rushing game, making himself the scapegoat, and stating that he's working as hard as ever this offseason. How assuring would it be to see he is working hard to get better. These are the kind of things I expect to read about from Colt's players after a terrible season, especially one of such high caliber and talent.

What do you think? Is Addai just a 1a/1b back. Will he return to his awesome '06 & 1/2 of '07 ways? Have I wasted my time and more importantly, YOURS with this post?

The interview is ok but the reason why I'm posting it is the great words Foster has to say about OUR Defensive Coordinator Larry Coyer.

It is so awesome to hear about how excited our entire defense is about the new coach and how they will perform this season. Hearing praise like this about Coyer and the lack of a single word for Meeks makes it even easier to laugh at the professional analyst (Woodson) who cite Meeks departure as a reason for concern.

I don't even feel like a homer saying I believe we have a top 5 defense this year, especially if our offense can get back to their old persona of putting up points quickly and making teams play from behind, thus allowing Freeney and Mathis to play "tag" with the opposing QB
