NCS Nordhaug bags first win in Sky blue and black
Lars Petter Nordhaug of team Sky wins the 2012 Trofeo Deia. The victory was the Norwegian's first since joining the pro ranks in 2010. The 2010 winner of the Trofeo Deia, Rui Costa of team Movistar finished in second place, 26 seonds adrift of Nordhaug, while team Sky's pre-season acqusition, the Colombian Sergio Henao rounded off the podium in third place. Eye witness reports from Oslo tell of scenes of raucous jubilation as the news broke that Nordhaug finally had lived up to the expectations that have made those in the know dub him the next Norwegian Climbing Sensation (NCS). Procycling.no has more (in Norwegian).
EBH's got shingles - Tour participation in doubt
Here we go again.. This time it is the skin disease Herpes zoster, or shingles, that puts in jeopardy Eddy's participation in a major event. O/T: Men's X-country relay live thread
THE event of the WC Nordic events in Holmenkollen, Oslo. Sweden's Rikardson is currently piling on the pressure and only Russia and Norway are able to follow. Will the other teams be able to shake off Norway before the sprint? If not, then surely Petter Northug will be victorious yet again? Oh, noes Norway is struggling at the moment. Is anybody else following the action? Seventy-four - seventy-five, seventy-four-seventy-five. Go Norway! Oh noes!
Breschel kneed to rest
Bad news. Breschel rules himself out of the spring classics and casts doubt upon his inclusion in the TdF. The only upside of this story is that those of us who reluctantly kicked him from our VDS team may be rewarded for our display of caution. Breschel showed a lot of promise last year and his injury woes sadden me.
Cancellera and Saxo don't see eye to eye
Apparently, Cance's departure from the Vuelta and Spain was not clarified with Team Saxo Bank. Sport director Bradley McGee is disappointed in Cance's behaviour and says a great Champion like him should not behave in this manner. All this according to Norway's second most popular paper, VG that quotes Danish paper Ekstrabladet.
