New Orleans born and bred, I'm currently in the US Army and stationed in Iraq. Looking forward to a big season with the black and gold. My last deployment, the Saints went to the championship game, hoping this one will bring a superbowl.

I'd like to apologize to my fellow Saints fans.
The three losses the Saints incurred this season happened to coincide with the three weeks I was home on leave from Iraq. Every game that I have been in Iraq for, the Saints have won. Sounds crazy right? Last time I was deployed, the Saints went to the Championship game. I missed the second half of that game, because I had a mission and had to leave. The end result? A loss.
Anyway, that's why I haven't been on in awhile, I was visting my wife and brand new baby boy. It was a great couple of weeks. I'll probably have a month or so when I get back that I'll be out of the loop too since I'll need to get settled and all.
But no worries, I will be here for the Superbowl and will watch the entire game live at like 0230 in the morning or whenever it shows. So I say the Colts can't possibly win, because I'm in Iraq. GEAUX SAINTS!
How to be a Fan of a Winning Team for Dummies
With the Saints off to the best start of their existence and talks of the Superbowl in the same sentence, fans are having difficulty dealing with being "winners" after a lifetime of losing. How To Be A Fan Of A Winning Team For Dummies has ten commandments that will aid these individuals in their transition from "bagging heads" to bagging trophies. The list of ten commandments follows.

The winner is THE PERFECT STORM!
The Perfect Storm takes the nickname crown, and once it was a heads up challenge, it wasn't even close. So there you have it. The end result is the same, but there's no one that can argue their name was better or should have won etc. It took far longer than it should have to arrive at this answer, but nothing in New Orleans is ever easy unlike the name implies.

There will only be the top 3 nicknames from the last round to choose from. Please rec this, so that we can get maximum response and finally put this to rest.

Bush looked frustrated
He carried one for 9 yards and was pulled immediately after. It was a good run right inside the tackle in which he didn't show any hesitation and exploded through the hole. He seemed a bit frustrated when they pulled him after that run. Then later, he had another run, this time for 7 yards. Again it was a good run and again he was pulled right after. His frustration showed that time to, and he had the look of, "What do I have to do?" on his face.
Non-Saints GOTW MIN vs PIT
Figured we could do some weekly predictions of the non-Saints game of the week. There's a good one this week between Minnesota and Pittsburg. My take is after the jump.
Hilarious article about Jason Campbell and the Deadskins.
I saw this today, and I thought everyone else might get a kick out of it. My friend over here in Iraq with me is a big time Redskins fan and has not been enjoying the season at all. He was dying laughing today reading this, though. It's nice to see that skins fans have a sense of humor too. I'm sure several of our fans can relate.

It's too early to give up on Reggie
via www.everyjoe.com
I'm seeing more and more people asking for trades and everything else with regard to Reggie Bush. You could say much of the rhetoric is warranted, so don't expect me to attempt to deflect the knocks against him and start the same old argument. I just wanted to inject some new thoughts into this.
Also, before the jump, there's something that always bugged me, that I feel like pointing out. The Reggie Bush - Gale Sayers comparison. People lauded Bush as the second coming of Gale Sayers. Maybe. They have very similar styles, but Gale Sayers wouldn't be able to achieve nearly as much today as he did back then. Defenses were a lot slower, and he actually had the ability to run around and by them with ease. So it may have been okay to compare the two, but it is unfair to expect the same numbers and accomplishments from both backs.

On the seventh day God created Darren Sharper
via multimedia.heraldinteractive.com
I know I know, it's probably a bit much, but no one can argue that Sharper is for real. While it may be obvious from his career that he's a future hall of famer, it stands to reason that should the Saints go to the Superbowl, he's got a chance to achieve something few defensive players have . . . MVP.The Saints' defense is great again for the first time in almost two decades, and it's hard to argue that Sharper isn't one of the main causes for that.
Since Sean Payton came to came to New Orleans, the defense has always been very close to successful, if not good. One glaring stat was the largest cause for concern, BIG PLAYS. The New Orleans defense was always either leading the league or close to it in the number of big plays given up. The vast majority of these plays came through the air and often over-the-top of whomever was attempting to defend them.
That all changed when Darren Sharper arrived. Not only have the big plays gone down considerably since quarterbacks can't just blindly chuck the ball knowing there's not much to worry about, but the stat that's turning heads is big plays converted, not given up. Sharper is leading the league in interceptions and has two game changing defensive touchdowns.
When he's on the field, Sharper is directing the defense like a true field general, and it's hard not to notice that his play and experience has improved that of the players around him considerably. The offense even seems to benefit from the momentum and firing up the big plays and interceptions he and the defense makes.
Now that the Saints are a threat to score on both sides of the ball, people aren't whispering about the possibility of a Superbowl, they're outright shouting it, and they have Sharper to thank.
