As the Tech game approaches, Mack has told the press that this will not be a "revenge" game. However, as a fan I can't help but feel that this is a HUGE underlying issue for our team. Mack may not want his team to seek revenge for last years game, but he certainly will not let them forget to finish the job that they didn't last year. So let us not forget and to use that as motivation to win this game! Hook 'Em Horns and OU Sucks!

Muschamp Defense year 2...

With the 2009 season rapidly approaching, there has been a lot of talk about what to expect from Coach Muschamp's defense during year two. As many die hard fans of Texas, we expect a lot no matter who the coach is or who the returning players are. During Muschamp's first year at LSU his defense was very sound, but like many teams under a new coordinator and new terminology they made their share of mistakes. However, as the past has shown us during year 2 at LSU, the defense knew the terminology and finished the season with the top defense in the country. At one point Muschamp even had a different blitz for ever state in the nation. It was also known that they ran out of states and began making up names for the new blitzes. They also held Oklahoma, who led the nation in scoring at 50 points. a game, to 14 points. in the National Championship. My point being that given the time to let his team grow into his scheme, and when he has the right caliber of athelete, Muschamp can devise a defense to attack to offset any offensive game plan. Everyone is worried about how inexperienced we are at D-line, but it seems more important that our Linebackers are returning and our Secondary is returning. This is all trivial and at the end of the day teams ultimately settle games on the field, but as a die hard longhorn fan, I'm glad we have such a genius at Defensive Coordinator. Let me know what the fans think. Hook 'Em Horns and OU Sucks!

After seeing the Horns defeat a top 10 team, and discussing the players and play calling involved with a co-worker, I decided to read a few articles online to see what the media took away from our victory. I came across this tidbit blasting the Horns for not blowing out Ohio State. It also calls into question the comments made by Colt McCoy in the moments after the end of the game where he stated, "I don't think there's a team in the country that can beat us." The author of the article states that we took a step back by only winning by three against Ohio State and we shouldn't be mentioned in the final polling with the likes of Utah, USC, and the winner of the Nat'l Champ. Bear in mind this article states nothing about how we beat Oklahoma earlier in the year, however we don't deserve to be in the Nat'l Title Picture? I don't understand and think this article is an outrage. At the end of the day we beat a quality top 10 opponent in a BCS bowl, if that's not good enough then I don't want to be part of the BCS anymore. Let me know what you guys think. Hook 'Em Horns and OU Sucks!!

Muschamp - Defensive Scheme vs. OSU

The layoff month before bowl season has got me thinking a little about what gameplan/scheme that Muschamp is cooking up for Pryor and the Buckeyes. I've heard that when Muschamp's full playbook is installed he has the ability to play either man coverage and blitz the hell out of the quarterback, or throw a lot of zone-blitzes at the quarterback to create confusion. I thought about this for two reasons: 1) Our defense, since the loss the Texas Tech, has gotten stingier and more aggressive with the called plays (i.e. more blitzes from the edge and from linebackers) and 2) Knowing OSU likes to run a more pro style offense, would this give Muschamp even more opportunity to confuse Pryor and throw a lot of zone-blitz or even blitzes to make him feel pressure and make some "rookie mistakes." Just thinking about this given that our defense has had a whole year to improve and now we have a month to game plan for a team that really isn't going to spread us out a lot with multiple passing lanes or passing situations, especially on 1st down. Let me know what you guys think. Hook 'Em Horns and OU Sucks!

Give

Given the circumstances of this year's college football debate, and how no one can come to a clear conculsion, tons of fans have been clamoring for a playoff system. Based on the reaction of the commisioners who make up the BCS, got me thinking a little bit. When asked about a playoff system instead of the BCS, the commisioners response is, "We feel as if it would diminish the importance of the regular season." So by the BCS picking Oklahoma over Texas, their in a sense saying that game, which occured during the regular season, didn't exist. They're just writing it our of the record books. Many fans of Tech will argue the same point in favor of them, but they've played their way out of it the last two weeks. Just a thought I'd like to stir up in the minds of the BON. Let me know what you think guys. In my mind this is the epitomy of diminishing the regular season.

With the recent resignation of Tuberville from Auburn, who are some legitimate coaches who may end up with the job. There's a rumor that they may still go after Muschamp. Confusing that even being the "coach-in-waiting" at Texas is a much better opportunity than the Head Coach at Auburn now. Their team is in turmoil with the reoccuring problems on offense. Just a quick shout to see what peopel were hearing from the rumor mill or just any ideas of who may be a good candidate...
