Here is my advice.....

First off before I get into this post, I am going to tell all Longhorn fans that are coming on here and bad mouthing the team from last night and saying that we are going to get rolled by 'Bama. You can cut that shit out and go join either the A&M or Oklahoma blogs. I expect that from them, but from our own fans, you are obviously not real fans unless everything is going perfect and Texas wins everything. Yeah I said it and if you have a problem with it you can kiss my ass because I sick of seeing people doing that crap on here. I enjoy coming on here and have now for the last few years, but the negativity of people talking crap about their own team when things are not all great on here is beyond old.

Now why I started this post in this first place. People you better get use to the Longhorn bashing for the next 30 days (once again it should not be from OUR FANS) from the media. Texas' game last night was not pretty and saying that is being nice, but some how our Horns pulled it out and earned their spot in the MNC (boy MNC this year going to be a huge understatement). Are TCU and Cincy just as deserving? Yes, they both are. I honestly feel bad for TCU since I grew up about 15 minutes from the TCU campus and have had many friends attend and graduate from the school. I have always been a fan of TCU and rooted for them (except when they played UT back  in '07 of course, I will always pick Texas over TCU).

Now what I expect from a few people on here for the next month is to go trolling around on the web and find somebody bad mouthing Texas, post it on here, and bitch about it. Why? We know they are going to bad mouth the Longhorns, hell somebody is always bad mouthing somebody, who cares? Let it go, here is the best advice I can give you. Do not go looking for it. Because if you do all you are going to do is get pissed. If someone starts talking crap about Texas on t.v. just change the damn channel it is that easy. Just do not listen to it, I have a very good system of not listening to all that crap. I stay on all Texas websites, I obviously get on BON, Barking Carnival absolutely makes me laugh my ass off, and Texassports.com gives all good updates on all Texas sports. The only sport website I go to that is not Texas is ESPN.com and that is purely for scores and updates that have nothing to do with college sports.

So the point of all that rambling I just went through is easy, if you do not want to get pissed from all the outside Longhorn bashing, just change the channel and do not go looking for it on the computer and if any of you Longhorn fans wanna come on here and bash the Horns, take that crap someplace else because us that are real fans and have followed this team in good times and bad do not want to here it.

Does Mack face his biggest test of the year now?

What a great game last night, the offense managed the game well and the defense played another lights out game against an offense and quarterback that were coming in hot and probably the best O they were going to face during the regular season. With OSU being so balanced that whole "bend don't break" motto comes into effect. The D bent here and there, but very very little and all of OSU's yards came in the first half. My favorite parts of the game though was the kickoff coverage, with the exception of one good run after the game was way out of hand the Longhorns kickoff coverage was phenomenal and OSU was constantly starting inside the 20 and around their 10 a couple of times. It is just great to see after some of the runs and struggles they have given up on kickoffs. Not to mention OSU has one of the best kick returners in the country.

So after getting up a little earlier than usual on a Sunday morning thanks to daylight savings time, I did my usual Sunday morning routine by turning on cartoons for my son and reading what everyone said about last nights game and of course reading about Oregon's destruction of USC. For those of you who have not read any of those articles about our beloved Longhorns, all I gotta say is that all of them are drinking pitchers and pitchers of orange Kool-Aid. Forde has done a complete 180 (I loved JRPasadena's email to Forde by the way, I just wish I knew if he read it or not) and already has Texas penciled in the MNC game. Not just Forde, but other writers as well.

Now comes Macks biggest part of the season, keeping this team focused because in this new era of college football no one is safe. Upsets are always lurking around the corner even against the most overmatched opponet. I know the Longhorns have a clear path with very little in the way of obstacles, UCF gave us a great game two years ago, but that Texas team and this one are night and day, and I just do not know anything about UCF, but historically have been a poor program since moving up to D-1 (I do not use FBS or FCS or any of that other crap). Baylor is struggling big time since losing their leader in Griffin, Kansas has self destructed, and I am just not sure what the hell A&M is doing in College Station, that is definitely a Jekyll and Hyde team right there. But if Texas loses it's focus and starts peaking ahead, those very little obstacles can become huge. I know Mack has always done a very good job of keeping his teams focused and Texas is arguably the hottest team in the country, they just need to keep doing what they are and the sky is the limit for the Longhorns.

Everyone Relax!

I know how frustrating it is with all the bullshit how all the analysts jump on the SEC, Florida/Alabama bandwagon. Believe me I listened to Danielson yesterday and read Forde's column this morning and they are completely bias towards the SEC. The problem for them is that they do not and are not looking at the big picture. The SEC has one huge problem, they better keep an eye on more than just one undefeated team outside of the SEC.

I was having fun playing this scenario out in my head last night while watching this supposed Hokie team with one loss that was suppose to be ahead of Texas in the BCS mock standings get manhandled by Georgia Tech's triple option (I really miss the wishbone somedays) and send them to a second loss and out of the national championship conversation. First off Texas just needs to win out, I do not care if the rest look like yesterdays or if they all look like the UTEP game (well ok I admit I hope the rest of the games do look like what the Longhorns did to UTEP) either way if the Longhorns win out they win the Big 12, they are in the national championship game because no matter what, Alabama will have to play Florida in the SEC championship game if both go undefeated, one of them still has to lose and a one loss SEC team will not jump an undefeated Texas team.

Now here is where the fun can come in, what if one of those two gets upset, more than likely it will be Florida because they have not been impressive either and they really can thank the refs for bailing them out of yesterdays game. Now lets say Florida still gets to the SEC championship game with one loss to face an undefeated Alabama team and that one loss undefeated team beats the undefeated Alabama team, oh wait it gets better. There is an undefeated Iowa team sitting at #3 and an undefeated Cincinatti (How the hell do you spell that damn city/school?) at #4. UH-oh the SEC is completely out of the National Championship picture all together and we all tell Danielson and the rest of the ESPN SEC homers to shove it straight up their asses.

I know there is still a lot of season left to play and god knows the college football world has been a wacky weird one for the past three seasons with no ranked team safe. Hey is everyone still bitching about the performance against Colorado. Go ask the Ohio State University how it feels to lose to a 1-5 team or for that matter a Kansas team that was the front runner in the Big 12 North who lost to that very same 1-4 team that pissed us off last weekend. If the season ended today we would be facing Kansas State in the Big 12 championship game, yes Kansas State the team that had to come from behind and beat UMASS at home.

Texas just needs to concentrate on the task at hand and right now that is a tough game up in Columbia next Saturday against a good Missouri team. Texas wins out the analyst cannot say a damn thing, and remember their vote does not count. The AP poll is not part of the formula so they can say everything they want, they do not matter one bit at all. So everybody just relax and lets concentrate on next weekend.

Where is GD's head at? (I will give you a clue it is not on his shoulders)

Did Greg Davis attend the Mike Leach Spread Offense Camp this last summer? It honestly looks like Davis is trying to run the same style of offense as Leach does. Now before you fellow Horns fans start ripping into me just listen to my points.

First I am never one to blame execution on the coach's all you can do is get a game plan together and make adjustments, but the players still have to execute the play. With that said, last nights game plan was absolutely attrocious and where the hell were the damn halftime adjustments? The Texas offense became so predictable that my wife was barely paying attention to the game and was calling out what play on offense Texas was going to run. I am sure about 90% of you knew what the hell Texas was going to run the majority of the game.

Ok now back to my comparison of Davis to Leach. Tech does not recruit the same type of receivers that Texas does, they recruit the smaller, shifty, quick footed receiver that works well with those 5 yard passes because they rely on defenders missing the tackle which works well for them because it always seems like the first guy to the ball misses the Tech receiver and do not rely on the deep ball because they do not have to. So with that you cheat more guys up closer to the line to prevent a big YAC with more guys surrounding and flying to the ball. So when teams start doing that, you then watch Tech start attacking down the field more often to keep the defense on its heels.

Texas recruits the big run down the field try and create space receivers. Shipley is the exception because he is a threat to do both, but works better as a possesion receiver. So last night and for much of the season Colt threw what seemed like 98% of his passes between 3-5 yards, that plays as a huge disadvantage to the Texas offense. The Texas receivers are big, but are not shifty and quick like Tech receivers are, so when they catch the ball the YAC is not going to be huge unless they are in open space, but when 11 guys are not far from the ball that is not open space. It was almost like Davis counted on poor tacking by the Colorado defense, guess what? I do not think Colorado had one missed tackle the entire evening, they did an excellent job.

So what happened to the halftime adjustments? There weren't any Texas kept the same attrocious gameplan the second half and it was actually worst than the first half. Colorado was constantly lining up 8-9 guys in the box because Texas was never threatening deep. With those very short passes they are essentially run plays and that is what they aimed at stopping. With that many guys in the box you are not going to run the ball well at all. What the hell happened to Williams being a deep threat? Has he even caught a pass this year? If Texas does not start utilizing it's size with its receivers and then use Shipley underneath, the offense is going to continue last nights struggles. If Davis wants to play this dink and dunk passing game, then he needs to move Monroe, Whittaker, and those type of players to receiver because Chiles, Williams, and Buckner and not the type of athletes to make defenders miss.

I can guarantee that Oklahoma saw this last night and if Davis does not adjust and start attacking deep and the deep middle next Saturday could very well be a defensive struggle.

I absolutely hate blaming coachs on poor play, but I am going to put the blame on Davis' shoulders for one making such a crappy game plan to begin with. Colorado's secondary has been horrible and constantly beaten all season long, Colt should of had 500 yards passing last night with 5 TD's with how bad the Colorado secondary has been. Second if you cannot make halftime adjustments and you continue with what was not working to begin with, that is all coaching right there.

I hope this problem is addressed today and throughout the week and Texas comes up with a plan to attack Oklahoma's secondary and not let Oklahoma's LB's and D-line get involved. Now with that all said, I absolutely love the play by the Defense, that is a championship caliber defense and has been leading the way all year. I love Muschamp and am excited that he is the Longhorn's future head coach.

HOOK 'EM and BEAT THE HELL OUT OF ou!

Tonight, is what it's all about!

Tonight at 7 p.m.(eastern) the two most storied programs in college baseball history face off. With the winner in the driver's seat to make it to the championship series. As a fan and player this is what you want and look forward to. In order to be the best you have to beat the best. Texas has a huge challenge in front of them taking on the best pitcher in the country(Strasburg may throw 103 mph, Keane is still a much better pitcher in my book). Texas is putting a guy on the mound as the likes of which I doubt the Sun Devils have faced all year as well. With a combined 11 national titles and 54 CWS appearances between these two ball clubs, this is baseball magic coming together.

Forget LSU(until the 1990's they were not a baseball powerhouse) forget USC(a program that I do not even know the last time they played in a regional). So as I think back to that wonderful January evening in 2006 when Longhorns team faced a huge challenge(as I am sure they are underdogs again tonight), but had their ace lifting them to a wonderful victory. The stage is set again tonight as the Longhorn's ace can place his team on his back and lead the most storied baseball program in the history of college baseball one step closer to that championship.

Iraqi people are Longhorn fans!

I have to share this story with you guys because you will absolutely love it. So this morning, my guys and I are out on patrol. More of winning hearts and minds patrol , than combat patrol because that is what this war has pretty much turned into. As we are walking through a small farming village handing out candy to the kids and talking with the adults.

This little girl comes up to me holding up the ever famous Hook 'Em sign. Now in my previous two tours to Iraq I had taught this to many other kids and it has caught on pretty big here with troops teaching it all over the country, some of them of course think it means "rock on", but there are plenty of Longhorn fans in the military to teach Hook 'Em.  They also know the shocker sign and all cuss words as well.

Anyways, when this little girl comes up to me, I throw the Hook 'Em back at her, but as I do it I yell, "Hook 'Em." She looks at me weird and starts yelling out "Hook 'Em" and running around throwing up the Hook 'Em sign with it for everyone to see and hear.

Of course one of my buddies in my fireteam is a Oklahoma native and of course he is a Sooners fan. He has been very smart the last couple of weeks and completely kept his mouth shut. But I guess he can no longer hold it because he walks up to me and asks me, "what are you teaching these kids?"

He then calls the little girl over and does the ever infamous inverted Hook 'Em. So now she is confused and is looking at us both. She stands there for a minute not real sure what to do. Then at the top of her lungs, she sreams, "Hook 'Em" and throws that beautiful sign up in his face all of a few inches from his nose. I just start laughing and he walks away head down, with his feelings all hurt. I can truly say that the Texas Longhorns are the world's team.

Just let it go already!

I did a similar fanpost to this one I am about to write after the Tech loss. Some of you may know that I am in Iraq right now and I am not able to get on BON very much, due to limited time my computer time is pretty much left to emailing my wife. I do get on BON once in awhile to see how everyone is doing and just read up here and there. This last week though I have been able to get on BON a few more times.

All I gotta say is, let it go! Yes when I saw the BCS standings I was pissed and ready to take on any OU fan that is over here in Iraq as well. But after being able to settle down I realized that there is nothing I can do about it. It is what it is, then I remembered where I was at and looked around my surroundings and said to myself, "Hey I am in Iraq, I could be killed over and never see my family again." Once again reality set in for me and realized that there are a ton of more important things in this world than what the Texas Longhorns do on the playing field. You know what is important to me, the fact that I missed my sons first birthday. That killed me a million times more than Texas losing a 3-way tie or even getting beat by OU.

Don't get me wrong I am a huge Longhorns fan, but there really are more important things in life. I am sure many of you have wives, kids, and jobs you have to worry about.  I read, so many of the posts and you guys fail to realize what a success this season was. You have the mentality that if there is not a national championship then the season was a bust. I have never seen a team do, so much with, so little. Yes I know this Texas team is talented, but it is a very young team with positions that still have yet to really be filled by a standout(i.e. the rb position, which is the second most important position on the offensive side of the ball).

So next time you think about writing another post about how you are pissed off and how Texas got screwed. Remember a few things. First if Texas had gone undefeated then there would be no problem. The only team that has any right to argue about that is Auburn. Second this team went way beyond expectations and will at the worst be playing in a BCS, you look at Tech. They think they are all happy, but they have to settle for the Cotton Bowl, unless a miracle happens in KC tonight. Third I am as big of a Longhorn fan as anyone that reads, writes, or contributes to this board, but I know there are way beyond more important things in life than a National Championship. LIfe goes on everyone, it is not the end of the world. If Texas does not win or OU wins a national championship.

HOOK 'EM, and for this one night only, GO TIGERS!

In the end, it's still just a game.

As we all sit around our houses wondering what happened tonight and trying to figure out what happened to the Longhorns offense pretty much the first three quarters. We all have to remember that it is still just a game. I know it does not sting any less, but all of us know that when we wake up tomorrow, we will all go on about our lives. We will wake up Monday morning and take our kids to school and go to work, some will talk about the game and some will just put in the past and think about Baylor. As mush as losing sucks, that is what makes us die hard fans. Wins are easy, but a loss is when you really love your team. You cannot win a conference championship every year, you cannot win a national championship every year. If it were that easy it would not be as fun. We will root for Texas next week and we will still be pulling for Colt to win the Heisman. So when you wakeup from your hangover and get ready to enjoy your Sunday, and watch another day of football. Always remember that it's a game and life goes on. Root for the Horns next Saturday and that's all you can do. I leave with this probably being my last post of the season, since I leave for Iraq this upcoming week. I will be keeping an eye on the Longhorns, not just in football, but basketball (mens and womens), and of course baseball and softball, and every other sport UT plays. I wish everyone a Happy Holidays and an awesome New Year. Remember it's not over, there is so, much left that can happen. Keep your heads up, and always have faith. I wish everybody the best of luck, and hopefully I will be able to pop in from time to time while I am gone. If not I will talk to you guys in a few months. Hook 'Em Horns.

Does Mack have Colt on a gag order?

I am kind of curious, since I am stationed in Virginia I am obviously not able to watch any Texas newscast. I was wondering if Mack had Colt on the same gag order that Leach has Harrell on. I know this is really not a big deal, but every time I watch ESPN and they talk about Tech, the analyst always seems to bring Harrell and his no talking to the press this week. This is probably the dumbest question I have had on here, but I really am curious.
