Football: Isn't is supposed to be fun?

So i guess the trendy thing to do at the moment is write something that shows that you have been behind Tebow throughout all of this, and to throw EFX under a small bus for not realising it sooner....

Source: Mike Mularkey interview off

47

Choosing to focus on Atlanta's playoff game next week, Falcons offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey has informed the Denver Broncos he will not interview for their coaching opening on Friday as planned, according to a team source. Mularkey still will go through with his previously scheduled interview Saturday with the Cleveland Browns, but he is doing that because they called first and he feels a certain sense of obligation, according to the source. Mularkey still wants to be a head coach, and would interview with Denver later if it still had its opening after the Falcons' season ended, according to the source. But for now, he wants to keep as much of his focus as possible on the Falcons' upcoming playoff game and doesn't want to have to prepare for coaching interviews on back-to-back days. Mularkey was a head coach for two seasons at Buffalo and served as an offensive assistant with the Dolphins, Steelers and Buccaneers.

Tom Brandstater claimed by Colts

14

The Indianapolis Colts were awarded former Denver Broncos quarterback Tom Brandstater today after putting in a waiver claim. Brandstater was cut last week by the Broncos. Now, he'll compete for a backup job behind Peyton Manning in Indianapolis. The former sixth-round quarterback's workload had been diminished significantly with the arrival this offseason of Tim Tebow and Brady Quinn behind starter Kyle Orton. When asked whether Brandstater fit in with the Broncos, McDaniels replied: "I didn't say it wasn't a fit, we've just got three guys who are a better fit than he is." As for the timing of the release, McDaniels expressed confidence that Brandstater will catch on somewhere else. "Tom is going to go somewhere else and have an opportunity to make a career for himself," he said. "Certainly nothing that he did that was negative or bad, it just wasn't quite as good as the other guys. That's the NFL."

Receiving their place on the roster: Part 2

After the recent 'opportunities camp' i think it is appropriate to have a look at the rest of our receiving core that were given an opportunity to be noticed on Friday. Gaffney, Royal and Lloyd...

Is the Broncos starting QB job Kyle Orton's to lose or are Brady Quinn and Tim Tebow legitimate contenders? Bucky Brooks has the answer.

Pretty good assessment from nfl.com as to where the QB situation is going this year. Not really anything new for us but it seems like some MSM guys are finally looking into the way things are working in Denver rather than just making snap judgements based on rumours and speculation.

Fresh off visit with Redskins, former Eagles RB Brian Westbrook is now en route to Denver to visit the Broncos on Thursday. _________________________________________________ Sounds like Denver is serious on RB Brian Westbrook, who suddenly has options with the Broncos, Redskins, Rams and who knows who else.

Wes Bunting: Day three prospects worth watching. OLB Jammie Kirlew, Denver Broncos I was high on Kirlew during the season, but he started to lose a lot of his buzz after his combine performance because he lacked ideal size and ran in the high 4.9 range. However, he’s a natural pass rusher who has the body control, balance and suddenness to consistently slip blocks off the edge. He lacks a great first step but does a nice job using his hands and plays with consistent leverage on contact. The Broncos already have some talent on their roster in the form of starting 3-4 outside linebackers, but there isn’t much depth behind them. That’s where I think Kirlew could make his mark as a rotational guy. http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Day-three-draftees-worth-watching.html

The interesting thing to me is how this whole 'competition' business is going to effect Orton in the immediate future and how that in turn will effect the whole team dynamic this year. Most of us...

Shortly after he was chosen with the 18th pick in the NFL draft, Maurkice Pouncey said he expects to be a Week One starter at guard. "That's my plan," Pouncey said, per Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. One of the things the Steelers and other teams liked about Pouncey is that he's versatile enough to play either guard (where he was a starter for Florida as a freshman) or center (where he started his sophomore and junior years before leaving school for the draft). Pouncey may move to center in the future, but Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said he thinks Pouncey has a better chance of contributing as a rookie at guard. "As a young guy coming in, it's probably easier coming in at guard," Tomlin said. "The guard is one who receives information rather than gives it. Hopefully, that eases his workload." Me: Just thought it would be good to get some perspecive regarding rookies starting at center.. I know we didn't take him but with Tomlin saying it would be very hard for him to start at center in his first year i think that the same must ring true for pretty much all center prospects in this draft. Just a thought.. Probably means McD has other plans for that position this year, altough i guess he could take a guy to start next year.. and be back up this year.

Bowlen said he's committed long-term to McDaniels. "I’m not going to hire him and two or three years out let him go,’’ Bowlen said. "If he wasn’t a high-caliber guy and a great coach, or didn’t have the opportunity to be a great coach, that’d be different. He has, in my mind, a great future with the Broncos and is going to be here for a long time.’’ More info in full article: http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Big-expectations-in-Denver.html

D.J chooses to work out at home..

16

Broncos inside linebacker D.J. Williams has decided to partake in his offseason conditioning program at his home in Miami. There, he can spot for Elvis Dumervil, who is also spending his offseason time in Miami. Dumervil is a restricted free agent who has been advised to not show up for the Broncos’ voluntary offseason program in part to protest his one-year, $3.168 million tender. Williams has informed the Broncos of his perference to work out from home but he will be forfeiting the $100,000 workout bonus he would have received for 90 percent participation. He recently received a $3 million roster bonus that boosts his 2010 earnings to $6 million. He is in the midst of a six-year, $32 million contract extension he signed just prior to the start of the 2008 season.

Dwan Edwards failed physical here..

3

Dwan Edwards failed physicals with the Broncos and Seahawks before signing with the Bills. Edwards underwent spinal fusion surgery two years ago, and the Ravens wanted him to have another procedure on his neck. Edwards insists he's healthy enough to play without suffering long-term damage, and the Bills were satisfied after he was cleared by the doctor who performed his original surgery. From Rotoworld..

Pike and Gilyard brought in for private workouts.

2

On the heels of a strong showing at the University of Cincinnati Pro Day, the Denver Broncos wanted to see more from quarterback Tony Pike and wide receiver Mardy Gilyard. The Broncos conducted a private workout for the Bearcats' tandem this morning, according to sources with knowledge of the sitiuation. We've been told that the Broncos sent offensive coordinator Mike McCoy and quarterbacks coach Ben McDaniels to the workout. Pike reportedly had a good throwing session during Wednesday's workout session that was attended by 26 NFL teams, including San Francisco 49ers coach Mike Singletary. And Gilyard improved his 40-yard dash time to 4.47 seconds after clocking a disappointing 4.56 time at the NFL scouting combine.

Brady Quinn for a late rounder anyone?

2

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Brady Quinn is on the trading block. The development isn't surprising. Quinn has been so inaccurate (52.1% completions in 14 career games) that Cleveland would probably be happy to take a late-round pick for him. Kansas City, where Quinn's college coach Charlie Weis is now the offensive coordinator, would be a sensible landing spot. Broncos coach Josh McDaniels, a former Weis pupil, also loves to trade. Josina Anderson: Fox31 Alert : Source: Free agent C Rex Hadnot has left Denver without signing a deal at this time. When someone asked her if he will still sign.. Anderson said that time is important.. what ever that means. My guess is she doesn't know but wants to seem like she does.
