Former Kansas State coach Bill Snyder will return to coach the program and will be introduced at a news conference on Monday, ESPN.com's Joe Schad has learned.

A person briefed on the situation said Sunday that Snyder will return to the Wildcats after three years away. Snyder, who is 69 years old, compiled a 136-68-1 record at Kansas State from 1989-2005.

A press conference is scheduled for 10 a.m. CT.

A source indicated to The Wichita (Kan.) Eagle that Snyder would be given a five-year contract worth $1.8 million per season.

He will return to coach in a stadium named for him and his family (Bill Snyder Family Stadium). He replaces Ron Prince, who finished with a 5-7 record this season and 17-20 overall in three seasons at with the Wildcats.

I'm totally in to the pageantry of college football . . . everything from the cheerleaders to the band to the tailgating. You name it and I dig it. I think we are so lucky in Nebraska to have so much tradition and history and sometimes I think you just take it for granted since we're so used to it.

I saw this video on YouTube showing some of the "behind the scenes" stuff from the Husker band. I still get a bit choked up when they play the national anthem and get pumped when the band plays the fight song.

This dude does a good job and seems pretty calm considering he's talking to 80,000+ people. I know I couldn't do it.
