I'm a huge Oakland 's A's fan and have been since birth. Big props to my Uncle Louie who volunteered when they first arrived and has been working for the A's in one way or another since. My cousins were bat and ball boys during the 70's and you can see one of them in the '72, '73, & '74 team pictures (or at least the ones on display in Cooperstown). I am proud to say that I've stayed for every pitch of every game I've been to and even got to throw out the first pitch of a game in 1996 - it was awesome. McGwire, Steinbach, Bill King, Cal Ripken Jr (we were playing Baltimore that day and he broke the streak that year), Giambi, Brosius, and others signed my commemorative ball.

I listen, watch, or gamecast at least 120 games a year, if not more, with almost all of them being listened to on the radio. Baseball is never better than through the voices of Ken Korach and Bill King. Vince will get there one day, but for now he’s good and has been getting much better every season. Tough to be the new voice where a legend once was heard…

Anyway, plenty of bragging here, but its just that I love the A’s and I love that there is a sports team in the Bay Area, or even the whole country, that is as pure and enjoyable to watch and love as the A’s are. No room for egos, no room for bad predictions, no room for big star budgets, just pure, simple "throw the ball, hit the ball" mentality.

And remember the Rockies were counted out at the beginning last year too…knock on wood…
