The first member of the Kansas City Chiefs will join the NFL’s "Top 100" list Wednesday night at 7:00 PM (CST).
First Chief to be featured on NFL's Top 100 of 2012 list
Any guesses as to whom it will be?
"It’s funny, a lot of people are always talking about me being a slot receiver, but my whole career, I’ve been outside," Breaston clarified. "Last year was my first year that I even attempted at being the slot.
"Even when I was at Arizona, Q (Anquan Boldin) was mainly in the slot. I played opposite of Larry (Fitzgerald) outside."
One of the biggest misconceptions among fans and media in Kansas City has been labeling Breaston as the Chiefs’ slot receiver.

Include me in the fans that though he was primarily a slot receiver.

2012 NFL Draft analysis: Kansas City Chiefs Now that the 2012 NFL Draft is over, we're profiling each team's draft. Who were the steals? Who were the reaches? We continue with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Kansas City Chiefs
2012 Grade: B-
Original Grade: A
12 selections
One Pro Bowler - Jamaal Charles - 2010
Four players remain on roster - Glenn Dorsey, Branden Albert, Brandon Flowers and Jamaal Charles
DT Glenn Dorsey (1st) and OL Branden Albert (1st) haven’t been outright busts like others taken in the first round, but they certainly haven’t made an impact as many expected. Now, Dorsey has been miscast from jump - he’s a bona fide 3 technique and he’s played every position but that one. RB Jamaal Charles (3rd) was a star in 2010, but tore his ACL in the second game of the 2011 season. The Chiefs found two stars at CB in this draft - Brandon Flowers (2nd) and Brandon Carr (5th). The sheer numbers helped the Chiefs in this draft.

Personally, I still think this draft rates an A.
Chiefs Full Roster Breakdown
For anyone who is interested, the above link is a spreadsheet with a breakdown by position group.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Monday that the club has agreed to terms with the following 15 rookie free agents:
CHIEFS AGREE TO TERMS WITH 15 ROOKIE FREE AGENTS
It's official.
14. Kansas City Chiefs: They've lacked a roadblock on their defensive line for some time, so we loved the choice of athletic 346-pound NT Dontari Poe 11th overall, especially given the ability to groom him under the watch of coach Romeo Crennel. GM Scott Pioli also upgraded his offensive line and made a nice grab by getting Alabama DB DeQuan Menzie in the fifth. Sexy? No. QB prospect? No. But this is a sneaky good roster.
18. San Diego Chargers
28. Oakland Raiders
32. Denver Broncos

With the 44th pick in the 2012 SB Nation NFL Writers Mock Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select Central Florida cornerback Josh Robinson.
Mocking The Draft - NFL Draft Coverage
Joel hasn't posted this to the frontpage yet, so I though I would Fanshot it to get everyone's opinion. I don't like the pick and graded it an F.
11. Kansas City Chiefs – Melvin Ingram, DE/OLB, South Carolina
Not the biggest need but Ingram has game-changing ability as a pass rusher and has shown he can play in space against the run. Pass rushing depth is a must in today’s NFL.
NFL's Future » Blog Archive Collaborative 2012 NFL Mock Draft
Ingram has been talked about some here on AP. This is the first mock I've seen with the Chiefs taking him.
Poe reminds us of two recent first-round picks, Ryan Sims and Jimmy Kennedy. Both players were immensely talented yet struggled because of inconsistent effort and competitiveness.
Enough said, say no to Poe!
While the Chiefs were busy wooing Winston over BBQ, Chiefs fans used Winston’s Twitter handle (@EricWinston) as a recruiting tool.
"Oh man, I tell you what, that was something else," Winston said. "My Twitter blew up obviously when I was released and got a lot of messages from a lot of people. I feel like the fans from Kansas City probably blew it up five times more than anyone else’s fan base.
"Every day, it was, ‘Come to Kansas City. Come to Kansas City,’ and then obviously when it was made known that I was in town, I had hundreds of mentions every day. To give you an idea of what that is, I usually have 50 or 75 mentions after a big game, and every day, just random mentions by all the fans, hundreds of them. I was really taken aback."

Disappointed to see Carr go to Dallas. I DO KNOW Chiefs made him a very good offer. #thot he might stay.
NFL Network/ NFL.com does it again not showing the Chiefs at all. At least they don't show our stock as falling.
Wisconsin Pro Day: Offensive standouts impress
Zeitler (6-4, 312 pounds) continued his impressive postseason with a tremendous Pro Day, according to sources who watched the workout. He displayed functional athletic ability during all the offensive line drills, maintained an excellent base and was impressive in the pulling drills. He impressed everyone with his preparedness, intensity and professionalism, the same traits that helped him start 35 of his final 39 games for the Badgers.
He was put through the drills by the Chicago Bears offensive line coach Mike Tice and a representative of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Chiefs part ways with veteran linebacker Demorrio Williams
The Chiefs announced the release of veteran LB Demorrio WilliamsTuesday afternoon. It’s the first such transaction the team has made this off-season.
Derrick Thomas notches seven sacks in a game.
Thomas had 10 sacks as a rookie. He nearly matched the number with seven against the Seahawks in one game in 1990 on his way to a league-leading 20 sacks. The only way I could fathom seven sacks in a game would be to do the nose-tackle dive on Tecmo Super Bowl.
14. Chiefs CB Brandon Carr -- This 2008 fifth-rounder has started since Day 1 and never missed a game. We say keep Carr and fellow CB Brandon Flowers together and worry about inconsistent WR Dwayne Bowe's situation later. (UPDATE: CB Stanford Routt's arrival could swing the tag to Bowe.)
Defensive player of the year: Kansas City linebacker Derrick Johnson
He is one of the more underrated players in the NFL. He is a tackling machine and a timely playmaker. Johnson was brilliant in 2011 as he had a career-high 131 tackles. Along with fellow Pro Bowl linebacker Tamba Hali, Johnson is the centerpiece to a potentially standout defense.
Dre Kirkpatrick arrested for marijuana possession
Former Alabama cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick, who is widely viewed as a first-round prospect in this year’s NFL draft, has been arrested for possession of marijuana.

FISHER AGREES TO TERMS WITH RAMS
Jeff Fisher will be the next head coach of the St. Louis Rams, a league source tells NFL Network's Michael Lombardi.

Interesting..... Breaking News on NFL.com homepage
1 (a). This weekend, Denver loses at Buffalo and Kansas City beats Oakland and Detroit beats San Diego. Not too far-fetched. And here's where NBC execs take a grateful knee and point skyward: In Week 17, Tim Tebow's Broncos would play Kansas City, with ex-Denver QB Kyle Orton, to try win the AFC West -- with CBS likely losing that game to NBC.
The Falcons benched Baker in favor of Will Svitek. (Matt Ryan’s svankle was just fine.)
Baker has started 41 games at left tackle since being drafted and was exclusively a starter since the 2009 season. He had been struggling badly this year in pass protection. Svitek held Jared Allen sack-less on Sunday.
Falcons bench first round pick Sam Baker | ProFootballTalk
I always liked Svitek, wish we had kept him around.
Weeden was in fourth entering the weekend bofore he threw for five touchdowns as the Cowboys dominated Texas Tech 66-6. He received six of 10 first-place votes and 44 points overall.
The National Football League informed the Chiefs on Wednesday that CB Brandon Flowers has been named AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in a 28-0 win at Oakland (10/23). It is the first Player of the Week honor of Flowers’ career and the second weekly accolade for the Chiefs in 2011.
Best spike on a TD that didn't count: Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe thought he'd scored on a 16-yard throw from Matt Cassel and reverse spiked the ball toward Raiders fans in the Black Hole … and was summarily showered with numerous substances. Alas, the ball was down at the 1. Le'Ron McClain
ranfumbled it in from there.
NFL best and worst: Super Bowl rematches not so tasty
LOL, I took the liberty of correcting the original author.
The Chiefs rank sixth in rushing, but are the only team without a rushing touchdown.
Why would the Raiders sit Palmer if they brought him in to take them to the playoffs? Would backup Kyle Boller really be a better option against the Chiefs? Boller’s confidence has to be damaged this week, knowing the Raiders didn’t have faith in him to replace Campbell. Starting him in a one-game cameo would have been awkward, at the very least.
This is the best explanation I've seen yet of why Palmer will probably start this week.
Tamba Hali passed Eric Hicks on the Chiefs all time sacks list in the Vikings game and is now at 45.5 for his carrier. He needs 6 more to pass Mike Bell on the list which should be in the next 4 to 6 games
126.5 Derrick Thomas
86.5 Neil Smith
73.0 Art Still
51.0 Mike Bell
45.5 Tamba Hali
44.5 Eric Hicks
Chiefs' Todd Haley: After capturing the AFC West title in 2010, he should have plenty of rope. But amid whispers of tension with GM Scott Pioli, widespread criticism for his training camp preparation methodology and an 0-3 start that's seen the Chiefs outscored by 82 points -- by far the worst in the league -- the natives are restless. It doesn't help losing S Eric Berry, RB Jamaal Charles and TE Tony Moeaki to torn knee ligaments. And the early returns on injured rookie WR Jonathan Baldwin have not been positive.
Vote: Which NFL coach is on the hottest seat?
Haley is currently 2nd behind Miami's Sparano in the voting.
