11. Brandon Carr, CB

Some view Carr as the top corner on the market. Others see him as purely a No. 2 type. This ranking should tell you where we think he fits. Capable of playing very well, his best games tend to come against the worst quarterbacks. That is always a worrying trend.

PFF thinks Carr is a bonafide #2 CB... interesting.

Arrowhead Pride Who's The Next Head Coach Of The Chiefs?

From the FanPosts -Joel

I think we all know the "short list" of coaches that is being perceived as the guy the Chiefs might want: Josh McDaniels, Eric Mangini, Kirk Ferentz, and Romeo Crennel.

Let me begin with my reasons why none of these will be the next coach.

McDaniels has shown since leaving New England that he can't implement an offense without Belichick, as well as showing he isn't quite a genius when it comes to making personnel decisions or drafting. Mangini has fallen off the Belichick tree, and I would imagine Pioli's radar as well with the way he handled himself since leaving New England (Spygate, for example). Ferentz has nothing to gain and his reputation to lose leaving Iowa, however I think he's the most likely of these four to come after losing his defensive coordinator to retirement. As to Crennel, I think he has no drive to be a head coach again at his age. It's been reported he didn't even initially want to be the interim head coach for the Chiefs prior to Haley's departure...

So who else might we want the Chiefs could go after?

Not saying Pioli was wrong, not saying TJ is a bad player, just looking back (how great did the Packers do there?)

Fullback Le’Ron McClain moaned about the offense earlier in the week and players generally haven’t been happy with the play-calling. A defensive tackle reportedly complained about offense coordinator Cam Cameron loud enough to be heard by other team official.

Question about new overtime rule(s)...

Tell me if this is right... a team could receive first, kick a field goal, then potentially perform an onside kick and win if they recover? Or is that saying if you came out and performed an onside and failed to get the ball you've already had your guaranteed single possession?

Arrowhead Pride Rams @ Seahawks SNF Open thread

Surprised there isn't one of these already.

Also, my fanposts/fanshots aren't showing up on the left of the screen like normal for some reason (using the latest version of firefox on vista). Just a heads-up to the site crew, don't know if anyone else has had this problem or if it's just me. Anyway, how great would it be to be the Saints knowing you're going to play the NFC west champion???

Arrowhead Pride Why the Chiefs Succeeded

Such a great time to be a Chiefs fan. 10-5, one game left to play in the regular season and they've clinched a home game in the postseason. Looking back, there was a lot of optimism prior to this season, some level-headed, some pessimistic, but overall there was a sense of something... special. Is this how the Patriots felt in 2001? Is this how the Steelers felt in 2005? Is it how the Arizona Cardinals felt in 2008? Maybe, maybe not. But the Chiefs worked to get here, and these are the reasons we as fans get to experience a complete turnaround of epic proportions.

Both of these former NFL coaches feel it's the best playoff predictor -- stat wise -- that exists. Not team passing yards. Not points allowed. Nope, the ultimate playoff predictor, especially to these coaches who have tasted success at the highest level, is "toxic differential."

So what is it?

Who is playoff-bound?

An interesting look at what makes a good team. In the top 10 for this season, the Chiefs are in the list...

Here's an excerpt from a section about the Chiefs:

The color of blood surrounds you inside Arrowhead Stadium. It drips from the fixtures of the place and from the seats in the stands and most especially from the people who occupy them on game day -- splashed on teh Chiefs coats and Chiefs caps and Chiefs jerseys. It feels like you're in the deep end of a pool of red, and isn't red the perfect color for a football team? The color that's associated with energy, courage, war, danger, strength, power, determination, and passion? The color that sparks emotion? That enhances our metabolism and raises our blood pressure? That's used in several national flags because of its connotation of fierce pride?

...

And inside their place of pilgrimage, an older white man in a red windbreaker, who would years later wind up making wine in Napa Valley, stood in the middle of mostly young black men and led a battle cry.

"It so well defined what we have to do today," Dick Vermeil howled. "We gotta go to work.

"All right. Offense?"

"GO TO WORK!" the players say in unison.
"Defense?" asks Vermeil.
"GO TO WORK!"
"Special teams?"
"GO TO WORK!"
"Coaches?" follows Vermeil.
"GO TO WORK!"
"Let's go," Vermeil urged. "Let's go. Huddle up."

"Mike Vrabel grabbed my sac," Reese said. "We're all scrambling for the ball and Mike Vrabel had my nuts so hard I was screaming. I didn't even have the ball. He had my shit in his hands and he's squeezing. We don't wear cups. So I'm dying. Everything is fair game. The pile clears and I see him — now Mike, he's an Ohio guy, and I played against him at Ohio State when I was at Michigan State — and he's smiling and shit at me. I turned to him and said, ‘You fuckin' asshole.'"

Arrowhead Pride Kansas City Chiefs At The Bye Week: The Good, Bad And Ugly

From the FanPosts -Joel

3-0.

Something I think most of us didn't dream the Chiefs would see this season. Sure there was early hope followed by tempered expectations after seeing the offensive performance in preseason, but 3-0?

I'm positive there were the true believers, and while I was a hopeful person amongst them, I was skeptical to say the least. The San Diego win was eye-opening in offensive identity. The Cleveland game further exposed some problems and/or weaknesses. The San Francisco win has officially reeled back in some common concerns.

With the first three games of the schedule coming to a close, I present to you IISaiNtII's official the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly post.

My life must've been a lie, 'cause there's nothing there that looks like my childhood. This white woman come up, and I'm thinking, Wow. When I was a kid, she would've been robbed and raped and left for dead. This is a real strange scenario, and I just wanted to cry. I'm like, "Who am I? Where's my heritage?

Arrowhead Pride Us vs Them (AKA: why the other guys suck) [contains foul language]

As you may or may not know, I'm a Chiefs fan (SURPISE!). I also have an inherent discontent towards 31 other football franchises because of this condition I'm going to refer to as "kool-aid-itis" and "homerism" as well as "the intelligent way to think because those guys really do suck bags of roosters." So since it's the offseason, and I'm bored and have an hour and a half to kill until I pick up my beautiful daughter, I thought I'd spew some hate on this upcoming seasons opponents. If by some chance you happen to like one of the teams I'm about to hate on, you have two options:

1) Do not read any further

2) STFU and take it like man, panzy. Remember it's all in good fun (but not really)
