In a recent article by USA Today about the superb accomplishments throughout his career as a Kansas City Chief, Tony references seriously considering retiring at the end of next season.

According to the native of Torrance, Calif., he is leaning heavily toward retiring at the end of next season. A chance for an elusive Super Bowl ring could change his mind, though.

So. Another reason to stay with these young guys and get better. Get this man a ring. I could care less about the coaches and organization, Tony truly deserves to get that ring. He will leave the game a winner, that is without a doubt.

Why does is seem that everyone is defending this organization, trying to "calm" us down, or make it seem like it's not as bad as it is. Really? Have you all seen the last 11 regular season games? There has been no real progression from the dismal 2007 season. I realize that's it's still early in the 08 season, but what we witnessed against the Raiders was a full-blown meltdown from the entire team; coaching staff included.

I know that many people have read the same quotes and watched the same Herm press conferences as I have. I have heard him say on more than one occasion how you don't abandon your game plan. So what was our game plan on Sunday? I am certain it wasn't in the books to throw Maurice Haggins out there three times to take a snap and once to throw a pass. Or was it? Was that supposed to be Herms idea of "tricky" playcalling?

"Lets throw a guy out there no one has seen. Just because he's as tall as Vern Troyer doesn't mean he can't make a throw..." Really guys? Are the rookies SO young and stupid that they can't learn more plays? Do we really have to dumb down the offense to a HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL? Why do you keep running LJ into walls of man-meat, and then on 1st and 5 in New England we pass 4 times? We're reliving last years offense, only without the hope of a quarterback who can stay in the game.

The Chiefs brass made no attempts in the offseason to go after any decent free agents to bandaid all these holes we have. We have one of, if not the largest, free cap room in the NFL, and we have all these holes? IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE.

If it were all injury related and we were having to take people from other teams practice squads... ok. Week 2, half the line is hurt, our starting QB is hurt, his backup is hurt, ok. I could see that. But you can't sit there and tell me that they didn't see this coming with the right side of our offensive (literally... again) line.

Maybe if we saw some sort of progression in the direction of the team I could calm down, not be so upset. But what is the direction? Get younger? Ok, how does getting younger win you games? It doesn't. Talent and heart doesn't win games. We have to have someone with a clue to steer this ship in the direction it needs to go. Why is it that almost every picture I see of Herm on the sideline shows him looking confused? Seriously, why? I'm going to take a shot in the dark here, and say because HE IS. He reaped the benefit of Parcels in New York is my honest opinion. I don't think he can coach a team to win.

So no, I will not calm down. I didn't expect the Chiefs to be worth much this season, but I also wasn't expecting to lose to the Raiders so badly, who as we all know, are a really bad team. I will calm down if I see progression in the team, in the coaching, in the playcalling, in the game planning... but I have not seen that since Edwards took over. All I have witnessed is a regression with the addition of "promising talent."
