Jacobs to start again this week?
What does everyone think about Big Brandon starting again against the 'Skins? I'm comfortable with Jacobs starting and Bradshaw coming off the bench, the old way. (speaking of 'Skins, I would love to see a repeat of Jacobs>Landry). They will undoubtedly get almost equal carries with Bradshaw getting his usual few more carries. They both ran well against the Jags. Bradshaw still ran very hard and well. I just think Jacobs has the hot hand right now and he's more comfortable 'starting' the game. Opinions?
DeSean Jackson / Dunta Robinson hit
Did anyone else see the video on nfl.com explaining illegal hits? Ray Anderson deems Robinson's hit on Jackson as illegal. But in my opinion, it was the only clean hit of all the "devestating hits" this past sunday. What ticks me off is this line by Anderson, "Using the head, forearm, or shoulder to deliver the initial hit to a defenseless player will draw significant discipline." What fricken part of your body are you supposed to tackle with Ray Anderson?!?!?! Defensive players are trying to hit the receiver so that he does not catch the ball. A clean hit is one that is not delivered to the player's head. Therefore Robinson's hit was clean b/c he used his shoulder. Maybe he should jump to his back and tackle him with his feet
In spite of some disappointing Giants cuts
A couple players that interest me, via nfl.com's "Notable Cuts"... Willie Parker, RB, cut by Redskins. Not really a fan of DJ Ware (injuries, inconsistent) and Andre Brown hasn't proven too much to me. Parker was a very successful RB on a Superbowl winning team. I feel like he could add quality depth at a position that is so fragile, i.e. our banged up backfield of '09. Ummm, Quentin Demps S Eagles, was a fairly explosive kick returner, seems better than anything we have. Also Justin Miller, once a blazer on the Jets is kind of washed up at a young age but you never know. Just some food for thought I'm not saying jump to sign these guys, although I like Parkerm
A little off topic from the excitement of training camp
I'm just wondering if anybody has noticed Giants players wearing digital wrist watches during practice. I saw a picture of KP wearing one on the first day (I know he's not full go) but remember seeing snapshots last year of players wearing wrist watches while in action. Is there a purpose? Is it a plug for TimeX? It could be used for timing drills I'm just wondering if someone knows it's kind of bugging me lol.
Kenny Phillips and Antrel Rolle
Any word on KP's progress? Are the Giants optimistic? And has anybody (Ed?) heard how Antrel Rolle is acclimating to his new team? I feel like his arrival to the Giants hasn't been documented a lot for a player who figures to be extremely important to the defense's revival. In short clips on Giants.com I've seen Brandon Jacobs looking very smooth carrying out his reps 35+ yards down the field with an energetic Rolle running hard to get to him on every play (seems to have a good approach to practice). I just want to know what coaches/teammates have to say about him (Rolle). Extremely excited about his pairing with KP.
