I started following the Bucks after they drafted Bogut, and well it just went perfectly with my fatalistic preternatural pessimistic outlook. Maybe it comes from rabidly following an Australian Rules Football team that has won one premiership in over a 120 years and that by 1 point, have finished last around 25 times in between drinks, and capped it off by last year despite having the best defensive record in 30 years, becoming the first team ever to start a season 18-0 and not win the premiership, and to lead at 3 quarter time of the Grand Final not score a goal in the final term and lose........oh and this year they traded their first round draft pick for a guy who duly went and got arrested and now stands trial for alleged rape, we just lost the pre season Grand Final to ice the cake whilst our best attacking defender injured his ankle and is out for 1-2 months after we traded away our back up at the end of last year & forced our best defender of the last decade to retire ...........Oh yes and 2 games in we just lost our captain, talisman, and one of the best if not the best player in the competition for 4 months, pretty much the whole season.........yup no wonder why I adore the Bucks & Bogut.....joy

with all the talk about distribution of minutes amongst the PF's......just thought this was a great tribute to what Luc Richard Mbah a Moute brings to the table, and why he will get his 25 minutes under Skiles and be a valuable contirbutor

Brew Hoop Redd is Dead????????

Just like to illicit opinions on whether the acquisiton of Maggette, CDR etc effects Redd's position on the Bucks......

I think most of agreed that his time on this team had passed, Bogut & Jennings had taken over the leadership and dynamic of the group both on and off the court, and even attempting to work Redd back into the offense would just lead to a regressive state again......where he dominates the ball and stifles the offensive flow.....Bogut and Redd together as a tandem never clicked much, unlike Bogut and Jennings who seem to have developed an unlikely but effective chemistry.........Salmons at the time was the perfect fit as he didnt shift that but fitted in seamlessly, and whilst he at time dominated the ball he tended to pick his moments and stops relatively well

however the addition of Maggete, CDR and I assume one or two other veteran players means the dynamic has shifted dramatically again, apart from their locker room presence on the court these guys like the ball in their hands and are not the most willing offensive passers? Still we need a pure shooter......If Redd gets back to playing fitness could it be a case of the Bucks using him as a sharp shooter off the bench if he is willing to fall into a lesser roll?

Redd despite his contract being a heavy burden has had a reputation as a good guy so Im not sure it would be an ego thing, and he might just be happy to be playing a limited but effective role on a team he has been with his whole career? Or does he feel he needs minutes and stats to show case his ability post injury as his contract is expiring and like McGrady he wants to show what he can do?Im interested because the talk is we need a shooter well we have one kinda :)

I thought it was definitely over between the Bucks and Redd and Im not advocating either way.....just after what everyone else thinks after the last few tumultuous days

Brew Hoop The Joe Alexander Effect Scale

I think we officially need a title or theorem to explain the curse of the Joe Alexander pick and ensuing debacle how no one who supports the Bucks wants them ever to pick a white guy over 6-6 because they are emotionally scarred and the regressed memories are still surface deep because the very thought of anyone with the same skin pigment as Joe is guilty by association of being a useless tweener..........

I think Gordon Hayward rates a 10 on the Joe Alexander Effect scale, Luke Babbit 7.5, Cole Aldrich 4.5, anyone white perimeter euro guy rates an 8 by default

all Hayward needs to do is school a foldable chair in his work out and he will have the Yi JianLian Effect scale rating as well

Brew Hoop The Futures So Bright I Gotta Wear Shades.........

It’s a pretty interesting situation we have going into the off season which hopefully wont happen for as long as possible……….

Starters

Brandon Jennings

John Salmons*

Carlos Delfino

Prince Mbah a Moute

Drew Bogut

Bench Power (sic)

Ilyasova

Ridnour *

Stackhouse*

Thomas*

Bell

We are in trouble

Gadz

Primoz*

Ivey *

Redd

*free agent-assuming Salmons opts out

Likes:

Jennings, Bogut two keys obviously inked in at $13

Delfino, Mbah Moute, Ilaysova at a combined  $7 is sweet. Attractive complimentary role players combine that with some play off exposure, increased incremental improvement in their games, confidence………..Ilaysova is developing into that active big guy off the bench that a lot of teams would love, a defensive lock down guy at multiple positions in Mbah a Moute, and some outside shooting from Delfino, with a side of surprising rebounding & pesky defense

Upcoming draft. Pick 11 fingers crossed, after the swap with the Bulls, a couple of 2nd rounder’s, say we get a potential guy for bench help, and one euro guy that gets stashed over there for a season or two?

Dislikes:

Writing off $25 with Redd & Gadz hurts, expiring contracts anyone..anyone…….

That leaves the Salmons question, consensus being that Salmons opts out of the 6 million due next year? Pro’s of Salmon efficient scoring, gives us that big body at guard, can get his own shot off, has been relatively clutch and hit some big shots…..at the moment you would want him getting the last shot in a close one, I’m guessing its preferable to Jennings dribbling around and firing up and off balance shot, or Bogut trying an ugly looking hook? Of course there is always the 28ft prayer play from Ilyasova up our sleeves!

I’m not sure what the view on Ridnour would be, his stellar play earlier has cooled off but he offers a steady back up at the point, guess if Skiles likes his heady enough play they will try and book him in at a value for money deal.

Will we try to sign both Salmons & Ridnour? Its hard to say the Senaor has shown he will take salary on in terms of Jefferson when they thought it would help, but then we did a good job, sending him off, not inking Charlie V & Ramon Sessions…………though that threesome anchored a mediocre side……not a play off one

Fairly obvious that we need to add some depth and talent, behind that top 5……a replacement for Salmons, earlier I would have said a volume shooter no problem, but some of the intangibles he has shown start to play in his favor……guys shooting 45% avg 19 a game hmm…..If we don’t its either look to the draft, trade  for someone, though are assets of what we want to give up are limited….Gadz & Redd’s contract will come into play for a team looking to clear space for 2011 but I imagine that’s a trade deadline move.

In terms of back up point guard, think the options are a lot more available, plus there are always a few veteran guys ala Stack, Thomas who can be picked up at the minimum and fit into this role of veteran locker room guy whom can surprise you every once in awhile with some production, 6 fouls, and a key play here and there and some quality sound bites.

2010/11 Haves:

Good Coach/Sensible GM most of the time

Good young PG and Centre Combo

Good value for money role players

Foreign talent in bunches

NBA required I wish we hadn’t signed that guy to a ridiculous contract stuck at the end of the bench player……come on down Dan Gadz

Expiring Contracts

Jim Paxson’s phone number on speed dial

2nd round draft picks

Catchy get behind the blue collar team catch phrase

2010/11 Wants:

Talent/Depth

PF with some size, who ideally can rebound, block shots, run the floor, back up Bogut a bit

Back up point guard if we pass on Ridnour

Salmons to not opt out

Some scoring punch instant offence off the bench

Another hit with the first round draft pick

Veteran Savvy Locker room guys

Bogut to completely give up his pass to Skiles doghouse 4eva and eva

Anyway it is a bit early but thought Id put it out there to see what people thinks, heck it beats getting to this time of year,  and having to debate the merits of overpaying Rudy Gay………..

Brew Hoop Does Something Smell Fishy

obviously its happened alot before a middling talent (at best) turns one semi productive play off series, where the stars align, the team matchup/injuries/desperation/not being able to sign anyone else with a pulse anymore dictate that they get minutes, into suckering some GM into locking them into a contract that 6 months later has everyone shaking their heads and wondering what's going on..........round of applause Bison Dele, Austin Croshere, Jerome James(yikes), Tim Thomas(cmon), Sasha Vujacic, James Posey to lesser extents just because that contract is a real killer

Just Say No

This season it looks like a good play off series, im locking it in, from Salmons will push him into that catergory where he has the potential to get one of those deals, maybe im being a bit harsh maybe not its debatable but thats the point

who else is on that list for such a deal

Matt Barnes- this years Dahntay Jones? the media/self confessed Kobe stopper

Raymond Felton-I liked how someone compared him to the bug that Larry Brown cant squash, ouch

any others?

Brew Hoop full of Bull

Is it just me or is it just sweet to sit back and watch as karma, kismet, fate whatever rules the  Bulls coached by Vinnie D, trade away Tyrus Thomas, John Salmons, for chump change, then watch as Joakim Noah goes down, Rose get beat up trying to do it all, Taj Gibson tries to play on a bum foot, Hakim Warrick dunks and does nothing else team wise the whole game, & their forced to watch Joe Alexander & Acie Law awkwardly 'play' for 2 minutes per game.......all meaning Flip Murray gets to play freestyle on offence.........now all we need is for D-Wade to re up with Miami

maybe its just me
