Time to Put it All on the Line
Alright AP letʻs see whose got it and who does not. All thatʻs on the line here is your eternal reputation but the potential of infinite glory and the admiration of the tens of female visitors that swing by here is the prize.
I want to know, what are your bold predictions post draft. No stupid comments like "the Chiefs will definitely play in at least 16 games this year." or youʻll get guppyʻd
Just some thoughts and Bold Predictions
Since the Stanford Routt signing a lot of ideas have been banging around in my head and I just wanted to put em out there and see what you guys think about it.

Kareem McKenzie to KC?
The former Giants RT is a free agent this year. We know one thing about Pioli thus far, he will NOT start a rookie O lineman. Asomoah and Hudson were arguably ready to go their rookie seasons and didn't. Our new O line coach may think he can squeeze a year out of him before we put a draftee in
About the Raiders Upcoming Cap Purge
I've seen a lot of Raiders fans thinking that Seymour may get cut if he isn't willing to restructure. Do you think he gets a contract offer if he ends up being cut
Are the Giants a Dynasty now? 2-5 aint bad at all
Just some thoughts rattling around in my head....!?...-_-.... >><>
What if this guy (Brian Daboll not Mangini) is in fact our next OC? I think I would be okay with it. I mean the dude made Derek Anderson, Chad Pennington and Matt Moore look like they deserved to be starters in the NFL. Also he was able to get the most out of Reggie Bush, who has a very similar skill set to Dexter McCluster, and is utilized much like we should utilize Jamaal Charles. His standing amongst Dolphans is pretty good, he seems well liked.
What I'm more intrigued with though is that this means we will probably take a closer look at some of Miami's free agents. I remember when Pioli and Co. first got here I was really wanting them to bring in Vernon Carey to play RT. He had just come off of an impressive season playing opposite Jake Long, and Miami went and signed him to an extension.Well guess who is a free agent again?
The Main thing that concerns me is that despite Miami's woes at RT Vernon Carey was being used as a guard and even a center. I think that Carey will sign on as a starter no matter where he goes, but it doesn't look like it will be as a tackle again. Carey did well with the time he got on the interior line but there has to be a reason he was playing behind Marc "worst than Barry Richardson" Colombo this season.
Many here will say he could just replace Lilja but I don't think this is going to happen. Lilja will get another season as the Chiefs starter whether we like it or not. Lilja is in a contract year, since Pioli has come to town we have seen huge bursts in production from our players on contract years because Pioli has made the statement that he is willing to pay players who perform like they deserve to be. When it comes down to it, the only position on the O line that is going to get upgraded is RT.

What about Brad Childress as an OC?
Something kinda caught me off guard on Jack Del Rio's wiki page
Del Rio retired when he lost his job to rookie Zach Thomas
yeah THAT Zack Thomas.
Why the Raiders will win, by a Raider fan, only sensible to Raider fans
"Sure they have Kyle Orton now, but he sucks. He wasn't good enough to beat out Tim Tebow, he wasn't good enough to not be traded for Jay Cutler, and he isn't good enough to not be shipped out somewhere else when Matt Cassel is healthy. Orton is basically Curtis Painter with a neckbeard."
Tim Tebow has his team one game out of playoffs, and the playoff bound Bears fell apart without Cutler.
"Last time we faced the Chefs, they beat us 28-0, yeah. It was embarrassing. It was Kyle Boller's big chance and he blew it, throwing three interceptions. It was Carson Palmer's first day on the job, and being totally unprepared he also threw three interceptions. Two of the aforementioned six interceptions were returned for touchdowns. So really, the Raider defense only gave up 14 points to the Chefs, while the Raider offense also gave up 14 points."
Palmer has thrown a pick in 5 of his last 7 starts. Including three to Denver and four to Green Bay, but you know he was just getting comfortable. Nevermind that Orton facing the same Packers defense in his first start for a new team threw for 300+ and no picks, but he sucks and the Raiders will be willed to victory by their stud QB. As far as his points logic goes, in actuality even giving back the defensive points the Chiefs would still win 14-0.
"The defense is meh and needs a new coach, but while they were playing a proper scheme last week (that is, during the first three quarters) they only gave up 14 points to a very good Lions offense"
So are you going to get a new coach by tomorrow? I don't see how the defense needing a new coach works in your favor. But hey, he "properly" gave the Lions the game in the second half.
"The Chefs barely beat the Packers last week during a game in which the Pack could do absolutely nothing and punted the ball an absurd number of times."
And this works against the Chiefs how?
"First, Kyle Orton sucks and we already beat him this year. Secondly, Romeo Crennel sucks and isn't an upgrade over Todd Haley. He sucked in Cleveland and he will suck in KC."
Right, point: Crennel will always suck because he sucked as a HC in his first try. Counterpoint: Bill Bellichik. Also, having beat Orton in Denver earlier in the season probably doesn't have as much bearing on Orton playing in Kansas City right? By his logic, we should not play the game and just say "Oakland sucks we blew them out this season." It's just impossible to escape that kind of logic
"The Chefs were probably just so happy last week to not have to play for Todd Haley anymore that they decided to win. They will come back to earth this week and play to their actual talent level, which is "suck"."
Which directly contradicts his statement that Crennel is not an upgrade over Todd Haley. If the team was "deciding" not to win under Haley, anyone is an upgrade right?
"Raiders win, 27-17."
I could see us losing, sweeping an opponent is astronomically hard in the NFL. His reasoning for it is just insane. How does this guy get a frequent front page post?

Bold Prediction: The Chiefs Will NOT be Drafting a Qb in the First
A Quarterback will be chosen by the Chiefs in 2012 this much is clear. Scott Pioli said as much after the draft this past April.
Chiefs GM Scott Pioli said following the draft that the team wanted to get to the point where they're drafting quarterbacks every year, which is an interesting statement.
(ten points for the first person to point out what journalist reported that)
A popular opinion around these parts is that the Chiefs will be drafting a QB in the first round in 2012. It makes enough sense. The Chiefs are QB needy, this is a QB loaded draft, and the rest of the Chiefs aren't nearly as pressing. Still, for the sake of pick position, job security, and veteran availability I'm (sadly) confident the Chiefs will NOT be drafting a QB in the first in 2012.
Some FA That Still Deserve a Look
It is the quick fix in the NFL, it's every GM's ace in the hole and every fans trophy of the off season; it is free agency. Or so you would think. The game that is NFL free agency is one so complex, it's no surprise that so many schools of thought have been created on how to go about one of the most important aspects of the league.
You have your overspenders like Daniel Snyder, Mike Tannenbaum, and Al Davis. Then you have the conservative ones like Bill Polian and Ted Thomson, unfortunately for us giddy fans here on AP our current GM is of the school of conservative free agency habits.
Outside of Bill Belichik himself no other GM in the league has gone after old free agents this off season like the Chiefs have, Zack Thomas, Mike Vrabel, Bobby Engram, and Amani Toomer are all well past their primes but can still contribute. But of all the signings we have made Amani Toomer excites me the most, because for all it's worth Amani Toomer represents our next step in free agency. That being, where we finally start going after players outside of the Pioli/ Haley umbrella. We're finally off the whole "only signing players with connections" premise and I think it's time we take a look at some legitimate free agents free of connection, that could still have something left in the tank.
Just for Kicks and Giggles
Hey AP news is slow and I'm bored as hell sitting at home. So let's play a little game. Take your three all time favorite Chiefs players and type their first and last names using only your elbows. Check it out here's mine

Proposition to Pioli
Scott Pioli please sign Rodney Harrison! HE is a free agent this year and could help our secondary immensely. Not to mention he would bring the "Patriot Way" to our secondary and he has the same demeanor as Bernard Pollard so he could mentor Pollard so we could get the most out of him
Starting O-Line 2009
Heres my take on who will start I really think we dont need to draft anyone to put out a starting offensive line that can perform on the same level the Broncos did last year (11 sacks). And catch this we can even trade Bryan Waters just like the fat baby wants...
