I was pretty excited for this kid, but at least it's at a position where we can lose someone.
Dontonio Jordan, a WR from Texas, was scheduled today to make an announcement today between us and Stanford . . . he chose Stanford. This doesn't come as much of a surprise to most people following his recruitment, though. He recently visited Stanford and then announced that he'd make his decision shortly thereafter.
Having played under both Mason and Allen I disagree. Terry Allen may know more about football than any coach I've ever had, he was personable, firm and the players respected him. He had absolutely the worst staff I ever played for, nobody respected any of them and they were horrible at their jobs, it is why I wasn't a fan of bringing Darrel Wyatt back. Coach Allen was basically coaching 4 or 5 positions. That is his fault, I'm not sure he is meant to be a head coach but I would hire him as an OC, or assistant coach. Mason was a manager. He was personable and the players liked him though I don't know that they respected him as much as Allen. The difference was Mason had a top notch staff at every position. Mason would wonder around practice and let his guys do the coaching.
Jhawk20 over on Phog.net
Saw this in a post on Phog.net about branding for the new conference. Apparently, this is the new name for the Big XII, as well as the new logo.
Maybe not the most exciting position, but after our awful punting last year having a decent long snapper is going to be awesome. Apparently, Gibas has already signed his LOI. You can find more information on him here and here.
Possibly the best QB in the state of Kansas just committed to TCU . . . we've shown interest, but hadn't offered yet. I think there's going to be a lot of guys like this that we'd love to have, but who just couldn't get the early offer due to our tight scholarship availability for next year.
Interesting interview with Tommy Tuberville about his first full recruiting class. Like HCTG, he also said he plans on playing about half the recruits in this class.
They asked all these guys why they didn't choose other local Big XII schools (KU, KSU, MU). Their answers are pretty interesting. Dan Tapko didn't choose us because he wasn't sure we'd ever have a winning program . . . who can blame him? Corbin Berkstresser and Shane Ray both passed on KU because their Mizzou fans.
"In most spots, the Brown brothers won't be factored into recruiting rankings, but they could have a big say in how successful the Wildcats are in 2011." Why would they be factored into the 2011 recruiting rankings anywhere? They were already on the team last year, and had to sit out due to transferring. By these same standards, shouldn't we also count any 2010 KSU commits that redshirted last year? David Ubben is an idiot. I wonder where he received his college education.
I live in the area, and I'm hearing rumors that Jordan Phillips won't qualify and he will most likely end up at Butler County Community College. Like I said, this is just a rumor I heard and I'm...
What a perfect way to end an atrocious season. Thanks Turner.
Make sure to check out the one comment on this. It made me chuckle.
And the injuries just keep on piling up.
This makes as much sense as Vernon Brooks applying for a concealed carry permit
About the only positive thing I could take away from this article is Justin Springer. I keep hearing talk that he was injured all of last year, and that he'll finally be 100% healthy this year. Hopefully, this will turn out to be true. If this happens, Tharp continues to improve, and the coaching is better, we might not be in horrible shape at linebacker.
Kansas coach Turner Gill also had plenty of interest in Davie, offering him a scholarship two weeks ago. But Thursday, Kansas called with news that no more scholarships remained at Davie’s position.
We just turned down a guy who ran a 4.38 40.As far as I understand it, KU will now play all nine teams in the Big XII. And while I had heard some mention of Oklahoma joining the North . . . I’ve also heard that the Big XII North and...
If you're like me, you need to read something that makes you feel good about this damn athletic program. Here's an awesome article about a member of the track team who's apparently pretty good.
More ammunition to support the theory that Texas's PAC 10 move is just a way to force Nebraska & Mizzou back into the Big XII.
I don't know how this would really affect us, but the latest from Chip Brown says that some in the TX legislature aren't too pleased about leaving out Baylor? There goes your lottery ticket Colorado . . .
With all this realignment talk, everyone keeps mentioning that football is driving everything because that’s where the money is. But could someone please explain to me why football is so much...
Good luck Todd. We're all rooting for you.
At least he gave us something to talk about.
I've seen a couple of people mention this in the comments of other discussions, but I figured I'd throw this up.
