Rotation - Hope for the (very near) future?
I saw Latos pitch last night, then Carillo for the Beavers. It was beautiful. So a potential 2010 rotation of Peavy, Young, Latos and Carillo, followed by one of several available options as a fifth starter looks pretty good right now. Behind them are the middle guys who are pitching well lately and close with Bell. This could happen next year! It could be an epic turnaround if the Padres hold on to some bats and speed: AG, Gwynn, Blanks, Headly, Kouz and Cabrerra.

Baseball Managing 101
Top o' the ninth, tying run on second base, no outs. (Degree of difficulty - your team is among the worst in OBP and near the lead in strikeouts.)
Do you:
a. BUNT THE GUY TO THIRD!
b. Send a cold pinch hitter up to flail away. Hopefully this batter will be a player with next to no major league at-bats.
My 11 and 13 year old sons immediately asked me why the Pads weren't bunting. Apparently they should be managing the Padres. This is just embarrassing.
Bud Black is not a good manager. Discuss.

If Khalil Had a Signature Cologne
The guys in the booth during the Padres-Rockies game were talking about how Derek Jeter has a cologne called Driven, and Greene should have is own cologne. I say we come up with the name.
I am going with Strikeout or maybe NeverSmile. I know you all can do better. Let's come up with some thing good and get this marketing Juggernaut started. We'll come up with what it smells like later; I have some ideas along those lines too.
