Some Summer Blueprint Suggestions From The Pacers' Peanut Gallery

A few suggestions on what the Pacers' summer should look like.

Why Nene Hilario might not be a great fit for the Pacers.

Draft Prospect Similarity Scores

With just four and a half weeks until the NBA Draft, I wanted to let everyone know about a new feature up and running at Hickory-High. It's a system for making statistical comparisons between draft prospects and players drafted from other seasons. Players are compared across a number of categories and a score is generated on a scale of 0-1000, 1000 being a perfect match. For example, Kemba Walker's closest comparables were Troy Bell-892, Eric Maynor-884, and Devin Harris-882. A table of contents page is set up with an explanation of the whole system. All the results are finished and can be accessed in a spreadsheet from that page. Individual pages are also being built for all of the 40 prospects included for this season. About half the pages are done with the rest hopefully being finished by tomorrow afternoon. Each page has links to a few profiles and then a table showing the 10 closest comparisons. Everyone seems to love debating draft prospects. Hopefully this will be an interesting discussion starter!

Numeric Narratives: Wrapping It Up

A tearful but hopeful goodbye to the 2010-2011 Indiana Pacers' season

Numeric Narratives: Offensive Lineups Heading Into Game 5

A look at the Pacers' offense broken down by lineups and player combinations.

Levees Failing in Poplar Bluff, MO, Tyler Hansbrough's Hometown

One levee has already failed due to intense flooding, with another likely to fail later in the day. Somewhere around 1,000 residents have been evacuated and police performed 59 water rescues yesterday. I'm sharing this here because Poplar Bluff is Tyler Hansbrough's hometown. In addition to all the positive energy we'll be directing towards the Pacers in Chicago tonight, don't forget to send a little south to the people of Poplar Bluff.

Lawson/Felton Combination Has Been a Mess

This is a little supplement to the "Why George Karl is Costing Us the Series" post. The Nuggets starting lineup is not the only unit that has struggled. Units with Lawson and Felton together had a +19.5 Net Rating in the regular season. In the playoffs they've posted a -3.5.

Numeric Narratives: My Kingdom For A Rebound

The Chicago Bulls are killing the Pacers on the glass and killing the Pacers' chances in this series.

A Pacers-centered breakdown of their playoff matchup with the Bulls.

An Ode to Jeff Foster - El Jeffe

This wasn't up in time for IC Cold Links today, but I wanted to share so people have a chance to read and offer their thoughts. It's a little celebration of Foster's accomplishments. Foster hasn't publicly discussed his plans for after this season, but retirement certainly seems like an option. I didn't want the excitement of the playoffs, or dread about the impending lockout to make us miss a chance to recognize Foster for his career achievements. He's been an elite offensive rebounder, a terrific defender and has represented this organization as well as anyone who's ever worn a Pacers' uniform.
