As detailed by HappyFan on the message board of his Seoulsisters.com fan site, last week's final round of the KLPGA's Hyundai Women's Open saw amateur Soo Yeon Jang and her father/caddy guilty of violating Rule 8.2 with her chip from just off the green of the par 4 15th, as it appeared to many observers both on the course and on television that one of the clubs in her bag next to her was pointing down her intended line. It resulted in a two stroke penalty, dropping her into a playoff with Jung Eun Lee 5, which she lost on the first extra hole.

Quite a rota the LGU is developing for this championship the next few years: Birkdale this year, Carnoustie next year and back to St Andrews in 2013.

His return to the PGA Tour comes to its fruition next weekend at Torrey Pines, and for the Central Mass. native it has been an eventful one: 10th on the all time Nationwide Tour money list and three titles, including last autumn in Boise, and the 25th and last spot on the 2009 money list to regain a place in the big leagues.

Waggle Room Punctuality Truly Counts - Just Ask Angel Cabrera & Gwladys Nocera

By now, you all know the story last week of how Masters champion Angel Cabrera - despite his best efforts - was late for his opening round tee time in Spain the day after competing in Bermuda at the PGA Grand Slam of Golf, getting a DNS for his troubles and effectively ending his Race to Dubai.

Now let me share with you a story from this weekend on the Ladies European Tour (LET) and the 2nd Suzhou Taihu Ladies Open, co-sanctioned with the Ladies Asian Golf Tour (LAGT) and the China Golf Association. This event last year, you might recall, was Annika Sorenstam's last ever (for now) worldwide victory as she prevailed on the 2nd playoff hole over China's Ye Li Ying.

The drama begins with a minor controversy, as a member of this year's European Solheim Cup team, Gwladys Nocera of France, shows up a mere two minutes late for her opening round tee time Friday morning with the aforementioned M.s Ye as well as Thailand's Porani Chutichai - a fact that went unnoticed by the officials. She shoots a 68 and goes to bed that night believing she had a share of the lead.
