The afterword begins following the jump, but first I would like to give my thanks to the many of you who expressed enjoyment with the original story. I appreciate your thoughts and expressions. I appreciate most  that YOU GOT IT. There are thousands upon thousands upon thousands of multi-generational Cardinals fans. We all have the same story. Maybe a few details vary, but it is still the same story. Whether you're a third, fourth or even a first generation Cardinal fan starting a tradition, we're all the same. We enjoy family, the Cardinals, baseball.

The little boy was excited, but he didn't know why. His mom was excited, his dad was excited, but all the little boy knew was that he was going someplace. Five weeks shy of his fourth birthday, the little boy was dressed in something called a "uniform" that his mom had made for him. The little boy walked out of his home on Laclede Ave., holding his dad's hand waving goodbye to his mom.
