I'd put [Westbrook] between Williams and Rose [all three behind CP3] ... he's harder on the eyes than Rose but at the moment he's the more effective player.

Bulls #1 in defensive efficiency (as of Jan. 9th)
Impressive, especially considering the amount of games Noah has missed. It's easy to bash Thibs for the Bogans thing, but he's got these guys playing some serious defense.
They're also #1 in rebound rate.

Love told SI.com that during last summer's World Championship in Turkey he had conversations with USA Basketball teammates Russell Westbrook (who played with Love at UCLA) and Derrick Rose about the possibility of someday teaming up in the NBA. Oklahoma City's Westbrook and Chicago's Rose are also permitted to sign extensions this summer.
From Chris Mannix's article on Kevin Love.
Rose/Westbrook/Deng/Love/Noah? That'd be decent I guess...
But yeah, there's no real chance of this ever happening. Fun to think about though.

''I'm trying to change it now where instead of avoiding the contact and hitting crazy shots, I'm trying to get fouled and go to the free-throw line,'' he said. ''It's kind of weird for me right now getting used to it, but it's coming along.''

Bulls reach contract agreement w/ Noah
[From the FanShots. Yay! Credit to the Bulls for getting this done. If the timing was to take some sting out of the Boozer news, it worked. -ed.]
5 years, ~$60 million, per Sam. Some much needed good news after the Boozer ordeal. Seems like a fair price to me.

Boozer out eight weeks with fractured hand
[From the fanshots. I'm lucky I didn't break my own hand out of frustration after reading that. -ed.]

@sportsguy33: Sorry about that (on bberry). Use this instead. RT @BullsBlogger: Bad (and spammy) link on that Sam Smith piece. here: http://bit.ly/c0Tbjn

Breaking: Hornets, Rockets, Pacers & Nets working on 4 team deal. Ariza to NO. C. Lee to HOU. Collison & Posey to IND. Murphy to NJ.
@JTMamba24 Durant is the man on the USA team, W/no Amare who's 2nd best? (Not sure KD is no. 1. DRose has been best player so far.)

I know Bucher has always been a major Rose fan, but still, you can't help but get excited at that.

Some subjective thoughts on Boozer's fit with the Bulls and what he brings to the team
In this fanshot, fundamentallysound posted a link to the Boozer/Thibs press conference (I left out Gar because I'm only including guys who actually were speaking on their own accord). Anyways, I had watched this a while back and it got me really looking forward to the season and what we can look forward to. I don't have the background and stats knowledge that many here do, so I'll leave that to the experts. But I did have some more subjective thoughts as I look forward to the post summer-2010 era and what I think Boozer can bring to the Bulls, after the jump:

The Blazers rejected the Wolves' offer of the No. 4 pick for Batum a couple of week ago
This is according to Chad Ford. Hahahahaha, gotta love the Blazers. When will they ever learn? And David Kahn is equally hilarious. I guess this puts a damper on the possibility of getting Rudy and the #22 for our #17, though, but we should have known that already.
The best part about this is the #4 pick Cousins is probably available, so they could fully make up for the Oden debacle and then use him as a trade chip. BUT NO, CAN'T TRADE THEIR GOOD YOUNG PLAYERS!!! AHHH!!!

And you take a risk dumping Deng and Hinrich, two guys who play hard, for say, someone like Bosh, who doesn’t particularly play that hard
Oh, Sam. You never cease to amaze.
Thibodeau is still waiting on inevitable Hornets offer, but sources say he's eager to meet with Nets and Bulls. Chicago's his preferred job.
David Stern places revised '10-'11 cap figure at $56.1 million, a boon to teams pursuing free agents. #NBA
Capologists, does this give us room to throw, say, $4 mil/yr at a guy like Morrow in addition to a max free agent?
I don't know how Gibson's performance would factor in if management felt they had legitimate chances to land Bosh or Johnson. I'd lean towards your thinking. Sign Johnson because Taj is at least viable and Johnson fills a need.
-From KC's latest mailbag. I just threw up in my mouth. If this is what the Org. does, then wow. Just wow. Fire them all.
It makes you appreciate those types all the more and roll your eyes at people like Aaron Gray, who acted like they were Michael Jordan when they should've been thankful to be in the league.
KC takes a shot at Aaron Gray in his latest mailbag. I really wish KC wrote his columns like he writes his mailbags: unfiltered and insightful. But I guess this is the way his job is supposed to be.
Right now, with 20 games left, it's not about individual stats or anything. It's about getting the win.
Captain Luol taking another thinly-veiled shot at anonymous teammates? Why is it that he's always making comments like this?

Flip Murray posterizing Kurt. LOL.
Source says Clippers have dealt Marcus Camby for Travis Outlaw and Steve Blake. Details and deeper confirmation to follow on the mothership.
Wow. And to think, we could have dumped Captain Thrust on them for these 2 expirings last summer. This is really depressing.
Ric Bucher reported on Sportscenter today that the Bulls are one of three teams who have offers on the table for Amare. I don't have a link since it was on TV, but this surprises me given all the Bulls beat guys have basically said we don't have much interest in him. What say you, BaB?
Team USA Discussion/Predictions
While I realize the trade deadline is coming up next week and the All-Star game is this weekend (and will be covered by the one and only yfBB), there is also another semi-interesting NBA story making its rounds today. That, of course, was the announcement of the 27-player pool of NBA players who will eventually help to make up the next Olympic roster. Why should any of us care? Well, because the Bulls' own (new) All-Star PG, Derrick Rose, is among those 27.
Tyrus Thomas suspended one game for conduct detrimental to team
The sad saga of Tyrus Thomas and the Chicago Bulls continues. Ugh.
I'm around Rose enough to know he'd prefer to be the second scoring option. Management is basing its entire philosophy moving forward on acquiring a star. If it succeeds, Rose is in the perfect role. He's only scoring at the clip he is now because he has seen an offensive void and is trying to address it. So I agree that a shoot-first point guard may not be conducive to winning. But I don't think that description fits Rose.
