Slightly OT: Cliff Lee to the Rangers
I'm just happy the Yankees weren't able to get their hands on him. It'll be very interesting to see how the AL West race ends up and how the Rangers fair in the playoffs if they make it.
DeRosa and Latroy Hawkins being pursued by Rockies
Former Cubs DeRosa and Latroy Hawkins are being pursued by the Rockies.
I don't really care about Hawkins, but any DeRo news is important.
The Offset Camera vs. The Dead Center Camera
Has anybody watched a telecast like this (the dead-center camera)?

Bradley in a Thong?
Apparently Milton Bradley is willing to do anything to win a game; he's even willing to borrow Jason Giambi's infamous gold thong for awhile if that means that the W flag gets to see some action.
Personally, I think that this team is tight and nervous and although this may not be the answer to our struggles, something needs to be done to make this game fun again. Baseball is played best when you enjoy it (as exhibited by the lively 2008 Cubs).
Interleague Play: Series #1
Although the Cubs were in San Diego , this past weekend marked the beginning of the 2009 interleague play calendar for the other 28 teams. When many baseball followers think of interleague play, the first thought that comes to mind is the continual AL dominance (perhaps preceded only by the debate between baseball purists and interleague supporters). The American League seems to be dominating the National League in All-Star Games (11 of the last 12 with one ending in a tie), World Series Titles (7 of the last 11), and interleague play:
Last 5 Interleague Results
2008: AL 149-NL 103 (.591)
2007: AL 137-NL 115 (.544)
2006: AL 154-NL 98 (.611)
2005: AL 136-NL 116 (.540)
2004: AL 127-NL 125 (.504)
Hopefully the NL will be able to turn itself around in all three of those categories in 2009; however, the AL took a slim lead this weekend in the interleague play games, 22-20.
Friday
National League: 6
American League: 8
Saturday
National League: 7
American League: 7
Sunday
National League: 7
American League: 7
Total
National League: 20
American League: 22
I will be posting these updates after each interleague series for the rest of the year.
Slightly OT-Yankees Raise Ticket Prices for 2010 Season
The Yankees can't even fill up their "New" Yankee Stadium through it's first 2 weeks of existence; however, the organization has already announced plans to increase certain ticket prices for next season. Lets all be thankful that the Cubs haven't taken advantage of us like the Yankees organization has to their fan base. (Knock on wood)
Cubs Forever Re-Airing Tonight (April 4) on WGN
In a Fan Shot awhile ago I remember that some people were asking whether anyone had a copy of this show. So here it is.
For those of you who've never heard about it, Cubs Forever: Celebrating 60 Years is a documentary that was created last year about the Cubs in honor of their 60th year on WGN. It's a very interesting show and every Cubs fan would enjoy it.
Kerry Wood's Thank You
I was looking through the local paper that I get, Highland Park News, a distribution of the Pioneer Press which makes local weekly papers for many Chicago suburbs, when I found something that caught my eye. Generally I'll take a look at the highschool sports section and while I was looking at it this week I saw that there had been a full page ad taken out by Kerry Wood. It is an image of him after recording the last out on September 20, 2008, the NL Central division clincher over the Cardinals, with 4 little images below of his timeline as a cub (him signing his 1st big league contract, an image of him in a Daytona cubs jersey, an image of him after the 20 strikeout game, and an image of him just pitching. Above all these pictures reads the following:
It has been an honor to have been a Chicago Cub for the last 13 years and to have played in the greatest ballpark, Wrigley Field. My deepest thanks go to my teammates and the Cubs organization for taking a chance on a kid from Texas and welcoming me into the Cubs family. Thank you Cubs fans, the greatest fans in all of baseball, for believing in and supporting me over the years. I will always be proud to have been a Chicago Cub.
Although I'm a member of a new "Tribe,"
I will forever be a Chicagoan.
Kerry Wood
It's not often that you see these kinds of things happen in professional sports anymore, and it really makes me sad to think that we lost such a fan favorite who loved this city so much.

Blackhawk Nicknames
So I'm another new Blackhawks fan who has begun following the Hawks this year. I know that there are some nicknames for players but I was wondering if there are more that I don't know of. Also, I don't understand Toews' nickname so if anyone could explain that and tell me if there are more I should be aware of it would be well appreciated.
Versteeg-Steeger
Campbell-Soupy (My personal favorite)
Jonathan Toews-Tazer
Thanks a lot guys, and go Hawks!
