Who could be the next long-tenured coaches?

There will never be another Joe, but will there be another coach who's at the same school for even 20, 25 years?

There are a lot of factors that would determine whether a coach could stay at the same school for a significant amount of time - their age when they take the job, their family situation, their success, the program/booster's expectations, the opportunities that come knocking, etc.

I listened to a radio interview with Pat Fitzgerald and it got me thinking that he could be a guy who could be at the same school for 20-25 years. He's a Chicago guy, lived his whole life here, all his family is here, he has a decent recruiting pipeline, not onerous expectations of the program, and I'm not convinced he would give all that up for more $$.

Who else do you think could be at the same school for 20, 25 years?

I've noticed that UM fans have designated Tom Brady as one of their most revered alums. Maybe I'm wrong, but I remember plenty of Michigan fans complaining about Brady when he was there. Plenty of dolts wanted Drew Henson to play.

Does PSU have an equivalent? A player that was unappreciated while at PSU, then all of a sudden became loved after reaching success at the next level?

Pretty sure nobody active in the NFL qualifies, but even historically, I can't think of any examples. Thoughts?

Conservative offensive approach

Conservative offensive approach

Can you make an argument that a conservative gameplan is not what best suits PSU in this game? PSU is very strong defensively, Michigan's offense has a tendency towards turnovers, Michigan's defense is opportune but not stout. Other than PSU turning the ball over, should Mich really be in this game?
I don't think so. Therefore, isn't a conservative gameplan best?

Is it too quiet?

This is Michigan week right? I am unsettled by the quiet. Or is it just me?

I understand that this is not a game with strong National/conference championship implications, but shouldn't there be more chatter, more discussion, both here and in the media? Is that because everyone, myself included, is completely uneasy about this game?

Defensively our speed should be able to contain the UM offense, but Forcier is talented throwing on the run and that scares me. Offensively I don't know what the hell to think. We should be able to move the ball, but who knows what happens on the road.

Blasphemous Question

Interchange DC17 for either Lord Tebow or McCoy, and how does that change the national championship aspirations of each team?

The question is not if you'd want to make the switch, but how you think the fortunes would change. While I love DC17, I can't help but think that PSU's standing would be improved by having a truly elite (flinch) player at the position.

FL: as deified as Tebow is, I think FL would probably remain where they are, as they have returned so many players. DC would definitely have to run more in that offense.

TX: I would think they would drop.

Thoughts?

MSU @ PSU 2008 replay

Anybody else watching? Home solo w/ baby today, so I'm on my third viewing

 Some thoughts:

I remembered this game as being out of hand earlier. Surprised 1st qtr was only 7-0.

How are we going to be at kicker?

Tyrell Sales was underappreciated

What has Chris Colsanti done, other than be highly recruited, to get so much love on this board (I am genuinely asking, don't mean to phrase that in such a negative fashion)

Watching this game is making me more concerned about the OL and WR

Was MSU that bad in this game or should PSU have pushed the ball downfield more all season.

Screens worked incredibly well in this game - this is likely going to be much more of a challenge with a less experienced OL.

Devlin was a loss but we should be OK.

I can't wait for the fall

Yesterday JayPa tweeted that he was filming interviews for BTN Classics: '85 PSU-Alabama and '93 PSU- Michigan State.

My #1 is 1997 OSU. I also would like to see the 05 Northwestern game, '96 Michigan, 1993 USC, and, to be fair, 1992 BC.

Anybody else watching this? How did PSU lose this game (or at all this season?)

Some thoughts

3 longtime NFL starters on the offensive line (Rivera, Hartings, Johnson)

Milne and Whitman were much shiftier runners than I remember - could even be considered fast - or is this just related to my first thought?

This game reminded me of why people disliked Wally. My recollection was that he was an above average QB. Maybe he was just off this day - I haven't seen any of his other starts lately - but how did they not get the ball downfield more with Scott + Engram.

Man, I still hate Chris Eberle

Being a Bears fan, it's hard to look back on Enis in a positive light, but from what I can tell his inability to play was what deflated the team

Does anyone else recall why this team wasn't better? Lots of talent. It seems that NU has the edge in leadership with Fitzgerald & Autry, and I seem to recall thinking that PSU was devoid of leadership.
