This interesting article covers analysis of shooting trends and how they translate to scoring the basketball. Can we really use math to better understand how to win?

KINGS AT NUGGETS - 2nd HALF THREAD! - THE BLOWOUT CONTINUES!
THIS IS AMAZING!!! I think the Nuggets are finally hitting on all cylinders tonight. I think George Karl is enjoying being able to play two 7 footers at the same time! Ty Lawson and Andre Miller are playing well but I would have to say that once again the player to point to is Al Harrington. Whether it was MMA, or Hamburger weight lifting this offseason, whatever he did it worked because his game appears to be in top form.

Let's Look On The Bright Side...
With the Lockout dragging on and with an impending decertification vote on the horizon we need to look harder than ever to discover some positives if the season gets cancelled.
Give me some reasons the season being cancelled can be a GOOD thing. I don't necessarily need to hear logical explanations.
How An NBA Team Makes Money Disappear
WHAT IF NBA Owners were able to magically make financial records say whatever they want? Imagine they could turn a modest profit into a huge loss?
Check out this Deadspin article for a story of funny money that's pretty insightful and rather disturbing if true. With an unknown number of teams in the league taking part in these practices the level of intrigue surrounding these lockout talks is rising to new heights!

Who's gonna be our closer?
its a terrible show but it has an appropriate title for this post
Lately the Nuggets have struggled to retain the lead late in the game. The fact that they're able to get the lead tells me that they have talent and can win basketball games if only they had the right "closer" or "closers" to cement that lead at the end of the game into a "W." Of course till now that closer has been Mr. Super Clutch Carmelo Anthony.
However with the possibility that Melo is out the door we as a team need to decide who will be that individual or group of individuals who can be relied upon to close the game out for us. Now ideally you'd want to say that the entire team is playing so cohesively that they together collectively are the "closer" and can be completely interchangeable at the end fo the game. But lets all be honest and face the reality that that isn't the case with the team right now.
So who will it be?
Oden out for the season....AGAIN!
Damn he's got bad luck, really bad luck.
Orlando Magic Sign Malik Allen
Looks like "Tacos" has become "Fish Tacos"....
Goodbye Malik it was sortof fun while it lasted....
candace parker beats BOTH jr and josh smith?! (via wh0iBE)
Melo at the end of the video. Remember Candace Parker is Shelden Williams wife, so JR will now be playing with a guy whose wife beat him in a dunk contest...

Who's Got Game
Now that we can reflect on recent changes to the landscape of power in the NBA. Its been the case for some time that the competition in the West was tougher than in the East but depending on how things shake out that might be a thing of the past. When Bosh, Dwade and LeBron joined forces was it a changing of tide or a miscalculation? Forming a talented contender immediately was the intention for all involved and you gotta respect that ambition. But will it pay off for THE JAMES GANG? IF they win the Championship how long will they be the gatekeepers on the path to a ring?
Who's Got Game?
Gotta Stay Positive Right?
As the free agency train leaves Union Station, many Nuggets fans around the country are wondering just how or even if the Front Office will attempt to make the team better and thus ensure Melo is happy enough to resign with Denver for three more years. I wish I knew what Stan the man was thinking right now. It's been mentioned by others that he hasn't really acted the same since signing KMart to a large/lengthy contract several years ago and I wonder if he quietly said to himself, "Well that's a lot of investment, I don't have to make any more large investments now until he comes off the books." Well Stan, regardless of what you're thinking that time is now. Martin has been a great player for our squad when he's been healthy but now we're hearing he's not healthy which puts us in the same position we were in at the end of the season.

The Lakers Won The Ship...
Now that the book is closed on the 2009-10 season we can all look back and wonder if this, that and the other had happened.... then what? All season long the Nuggets were looked at as possibly the only team in the West (or the entire league?) who might be able to challenge the champs and take the West into the Finals. But if things had worked out a little differently were people expectations fairly accurate or foolish?
