Justin Blackmon vs Other WRs in this Draft Class.
I haven't posted in a while, but I'm in two minds about drafting Blackmon at 4 or 6 should we move back.
Please, do not assume that I am jumping on the "knock Blackmon bandwagon"; I was very high on Blackmon last year and wanted him over Julio Jones at 14 because of how well he fit into the West Coast Offense as a Boldin/TO style number 1 WR.
HOWEVER.
Now the stakes are higher. The pick is higher, the need is greater (and urgent because of Sam's beating last year) and the offensive system is vastly different.
Schottenheimer's offense is basically as stupid as McDaniels'. Do not be under any illusions that it will differ too much except that Fisher will make sure our 4th down attempts are kept to a minimum and our run attempts up the gut are maximised.
I am going to post a few videos of game tape of Blackmon and other WRs that we should consider in the Top 3 rounds of the 2012 draft, and then analyse it and try and come to a conclusion with regards to what our WR Big Board should look like (for the Rams remember - if we were a WCO team Blackmon's value would be quadruple what it is in Schottenheimer's system) as well as where we should consider drafting these players - potential upside and their usage will come into this equation too.

Rams show...?
Many people will say that this hire of Jeff Fisher shows a commitment to winning, however, I'd like to state my belief that it is only a commitment to winning in the eyes of lazy journos and unknowledgeable fans.
Jeff Fisher posted, during 16 years of Head Coaching the Oilers/Titans, only 6 winning seasons. He also had 6 losing seasons, and 4 seasons finishing with an 8-8 record.
How does this signify a commitment to winning or getting better?
Here's an article for you if you seriously think Jeff Fisher is the right man to lead the Rams into the future.
Quite appalling how he managed his team in his final years, and this is without mentioning his archaic football ethos.
In fact, I beg you to talk to any Titan fan and ask if they'd still want Fisher as head coach.
I'd bet you 95% would not, and the other 5% would for purely sentimental reasons.

Dude made me crack up when he made the Andre Smith comment.
You can also see that the special teams and offensive failings are tough to overcome regardless of effort from the defense.
It's a shame because these guys are playing hard and are winning their matchups (generally speaking) and the offense are suckin so much...

Wanna 'Suck for Luck'? Think twice, Oliver Luck may not want his son playing for your team.
Reports have surfaced that Andrew Luck's father, Oliver, would try and engineer a trade if a team he does not like is picking at 1st Overall.
This would be great for the Rams, as I'm sure we'd get some takers for a trade, regardless of who's picking at Number 2.
Would this turn you off Luck though? That he's so confident of his skills that he'd reject the notion of being picked and do the picking himself?
John Elway and Eli Manning did it, and they share 3 Superbowl rings, so it DOES work.
Rodger Saffold Promises to limit the penalties
Appreciate his responses and I hope to god he delivers on em.
Spags to wife "not talking to Harbaughs again"
Understandably disappointed with the Ravens' attempts to run the score in spite of a close friendship.
Appraisal of this 0-3 Rams Team.
This team is not an 0-3 calibre football club. But we deserve this 0-3 start.
There is far too much talent on this roster to be 0-3 right now, and the first two weeks were proof that we could beat anyone in the league, except that we haven't learnt how to.
Week 1, it was all because of 'drops' and our receivers 'sucking', according to the majority of the fans. What we need to do is stop focussing on singular issues that are a part of a defeat. If there's one thing we should all know, is that Football is the ultimate team sport. Everyone is dependent on each other to do their jobs. We all knew which CBs we were going against, and as such McD designed an offense that would exploit the weakness of that D (run defense and LBs) throwing against those CBs consistently is asking to be beaten. Of course, when the WRs are open and in position to catch the ball, a drop is entirely unacceptable, but we need to remember that the Rams are not the only team that have WRs who drop the ball. It's just magnified because we're looking for it. If someone doesn't make much of an impact week 1 vs Nnamdi Asomugha, Asante Samuel and Dominique Rodgers Cromartie, think rationally and say, let's wait until week 2.
If you want to look at one contributing factor to our Week 1 defeat, look at how good the Eagles were on offense. Michael Vick was free and despite the correct gameplan, he was able to execute and we were not. As has been said ad nauseam, any other QB back there, and Vick would have been sacked 10+ times. To say that now he is struggling and is getting injured, while he looked amazing vs us, is not because we were so bad that week, but because he played free Week 1, and in subsequent weeks he's been bottled up and ignoring opportunities to make plays with his feet. In addition to Vick's natural playmaking ability, you must look at the speed they have at every position, thus making coverage an almost impossible task for more than 4 seconds. Vick can buy 4 seconds with ease.
On offense yes the drops were bad, and if caught would have changed the game, but you've also got to look at protection and... let me say it.... Sam Bradford. He played well week 1, but showcased a few worrying tendencies that were forgotten in Week 2...

I Love My Rams...
but there are times when you just have to hang your head in shame, put your hands in the air and say; "Boy, we have a LOT of work to do"
This is by far the cringiest Ram related thing I've seen since Kenneth Darby got a right hook from a ref and it wasn't even Ed Hochuli.
Steven Jackson confirms we will be seeing the dreads this season.
HALLELUJAH!!!!!!!
James Laurinaitus getting some recognition around the league.
Steve Wyche is right... Barrett Ruud over JL???
Come off it!
Sam Bradford on NFL Network
Fran Charles reveals he's from the STL... Maybe that's why he actually mentions them in discussion?
Makes a great change to see media interest in our team!
SB Nation Petition to change the new NFL Kick Off rules.
Please, let's get some support behind this.
Official SB Nation Petition to reverse the Kickoff Rule Change
This rule change is one of the single most ridiculous things I have ever seen in my life.
Why even kick the ball? Let's place it at the 20 and ignore it. Also, while we're at it, in the interest of safety, let's use a computer to simulate the probability of a completion of a pass, and use mathematics and algorithms to determine the outcome of plays. This way, the NFL will be much safer, and suitably more boring. Exactly what fans and the league want to see.
Please, vote on this post, share it around SBNation, and put your name down, so that this ridiculous rule can be reversed and so that the core principles of the sport can be retained. Namely contact (which is seemingly going to be abolished, to no-ones agreement) and the old adage that there are 3 phases to Football.
In case anyone has forgotten already (I wouldn't be surprised)
They are:
Offense
Defense
SPECIAL TEAMS.
Can someone forward the memo to Roger Goodell?
Many thanks for your time and signature, let's change this rule before the sport we love is turned into something unrecognisable.

Brady Poppinga visiting the Rams
Yeah, I don't know who he is either.
More LBs the merrier and if he's no good, he won't make the team by default like previous years.
Hopefully he's a BEAST.
Off Season and beyond
I know I'm being greedy, but I'd love another OLB, a backup RB and a backup anywhere on the O Line. Just in case.
This off season has been excellent. We've literally addressed each position we needed to.
From needing: G, OLB, DT, S, WR and backup RB only backup RB remains.
We got a great guard. Great potential at OLB and WR and exactly what we needed at DT in a big fat run stuffer. At safety we addressed both spots with Mikell and he's a perfect fit (although I'll always miss OJ!).
We did not over spend, we spent wisely at positions of need and crucially paid relevant money to the importance of each position with regards to the quality of player.

LOCKOUT LIFTED
TIME TO CELEBRATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ram featured in Top 10 Rookie WRs in Madden 12
GUESS WHO BEFORE YOU OPEN THE LINK!!!
Robert Quinn 10th best rookie in Madden 12
Yes, JJ Watt is rated above AJ Green and Robert Quinn lol
Prince Amukamara is also rated above AJ Green...
It's beyond laughable now, it really is.
Why WalterFootball is not a reputable draft site.
For some reason I was reminded of an E-Mail conversation I had with Walter Cherepinsky, the Walter of WalterFootball fame, and I thought that now I am on TST, I can exhibit it, and show how he uses flawed methodology and the old argument technique of ignoring the other person to win the discussion in his own mind.
Now of course, we all know that mock draft sites hold no journalistic merit in any way, no matter who writes for or runs them. It is all conjecture, and is based on little fact.
Please forgive any poor grammar, and even my own errors in judgement, but, unlike Walter it seems, I am able to concede that I was incorrect about some things (especially the McNabb assertion - FACEPALM)
Remember this was written way before Sam's drafting, before even the Superbowl I believe.
Unfortunately, I am unable to post it in chronological order, so it may be asked of you to read from the bottom up... Not ideal I know, so sorry about that.

Even this idiot knows the Rams are on the ascendancy
Self proclaimed Madden 'Rating Czar' and overall moron took Madden 12 home the other week, played 2 years of Franchise mode and picked the Rams... here's what he had to say.
NFL New Year Mistackular.
As the lockout is still in place and we're all starved of football, I stumbled across this great video, chronicling all the funny moments from a few years back.

Would you pay it?
Anyone know the value of a Marshall Faulk autographed card?

If anyone can find more pics or interviews from this Topps event it'd be great, I remember last year some great stuff came out of that event (first sighting of Sam in Ram gear, likewise with Mardy, all the interviews, my profile pic, Jimmy Clausen 'rapping' etc.)
