Padres Claim Eric Stults
Looks like we've picked up 32 yo Eric Stults off waivers from the Chi Sox.
Sisterhood of the Traveling Jersey: Braving the Beat Down
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Jersey is a Gaslamp Ball community project that will chronicle the 2012 Padres season through the lives of their greatest fans and an old jersey.
Follow along as we travel to Dodger Stadium (and survive!)
#SotTJ
Orange, CA to Los Angeles, CA
When I first heard about the idea of the SotTJ I thought it would be a great way to get further involved in the Gaslampball Community. I’m a huge fan of the site and a follower of the Padres since I was a teenager listening to Uncle Teddy and The Colonel on the radio (790 AM?) starting in the ‘96 season. Living off at school in SLO followed by a re-location to Orange County I’ve felt rather isolated in my fandom over the past decade, but the blog has been a great avenue for connecting and commiserating with others.
An ominous indicator of things to come, I received the jersey Friday, April 13. I noticed that the jersey has been decorated with a few patches and pins and part of a beer coozy and starting to pick up a musky scent. Of course, no Padres paraphernalia is complete without a Randy Jones signature (on the back).

Padres, Maybin close to extension
What a good way to start the weekend, hopefully this is the first of many more to come.
Hall of Famer T. Gwynn having malignant growth removed from mouth
Tony had another surgery yesterday for mouth cancer. That tobacco is dangerous stuff. Wishing him a speedy recovery.
Projected 53-man Roster
I took a stab at what I believe our opening day roster will be (based on current roster).

Impact of Potential Trades on the 25 man Roster.
I'm antsy to see what happens over the next few days, one can only refresh MLBTR and check twitter so many times. Part of the appeal of the lost season is the fact that we will potentially open up spots on the 25 man (and 40 man) for some of our guys in the minors. Depending on what happens by Sunday, who are you most excited to see finishing out this season at the major league level? Is it giving Guzman 150-200 ABs? Bringing Rizzo back and plugging Blanks in LF every day (assuming Ludwick is gone)? Sliding Bass or LeBlanc into the rotation to take Harang's spot? Calling up one of the numerous relief arms to take Adams and/or Bell's spot(s)?

Padres actually had the lowest 2010 payroll "beating" the Marlins.
Re-post of a FanGraphs article showing the final 2010 payrolls for each MLB team. Payroll increased from 2009 to 2010.
Roster Expansion - September 1
With the first of September right around the corner I am looking forward to seeing who we'll be bringing up for the remainder of the season. I'd like to see a couple of the bats from Double-A make the jump to see some big league pitching, but it's hard to think they'll sacrifice playing time for the young guys already on the squad. There was some mention of going to a 6-man rotation.
Who does everyone think will be called up?
How do you think Bud will get PT to people?
Do you think the Padres are concerned that AB's and IP will accumulate toward arbitration time?

Absolutely no mention of Mike Adams. I can understand based on only half of year worth of stats, but he stacks up nicely against this group.
Padres at Dodgers, Thursday-Sunday
Is anyone going to the Padres/Dodgers series this weekend? I've never been up to a game at Chavez, but am interested in attending one of the games, most likely Thursday. Any advice on good seats, where to buy tickets, and where to park?
Oh yeah, are the Dodgers fans as unruly as people say?
Thanks.

75 words is too much, I will have to work on adding fluff to meet the required fan post requirements.
MLB.TV?
I'm thinking about getting mlb.tv so I can follow the games in Orange County. Is this a better option then the On-Demand through Direct TV? I don't have dish, so I may be limited to only this option.
Also found it funny on the demo for mlb.tv that one clip is Joe Thatcher giving up a homerun to Ryan Howard and the other is A-Gon striking out.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
