First they have chemistry, role players, the cap, no draft picks for the next 50 years and now this against them? Poor Super Friends they can't catch a break.

This is just a bad rumor but here it goes, from allhiphop.com:

Andre Berto pulled out of the January 30th fight with Shane Mosley. He cited that several of his family members (cousins, aunts, etc) were killed in the earthquake in Haiti. Because of this, he hasn’t been able to focus and train like he wanted to and needs to focus his efforts on his family.

Now that is totally understandable and I believe there is some truth to it. HOWEVER – word is leaking out today that he got paid a HUGE amount of step aside money by Golden Boy Promotions so that Mayweather can fight Mosley instead in March or April. Crazy right? A couple of days ago Berto was saying he is dedicating this fight to the honor of those lost in Haiti. Now he saying, he decided it’s best to withdrawal. Again, that would be totally understandable if that was the sole reason and I sympathize totally with his grief..But a few days ago, he said he felt even more motivated to train harder for the fight now. Hmmm. But even if the thought "only" crossed his mind about withdrawing, that rumored 3 million they tossed him to step aside probably helped make his decision a little easier.

This was published yesterday before the fight being declared "off". There is very good information from former Nevada State Athletic Commission Medical Advisory Board Chairman and Chief Ringside Physician, Dr. Margaret Goodman on PED's. From her thoughts on urine testing compaired to blood testing to how boxing fighters can use PED's and how much time is needed for non-dection. A must read.

Okay I give up, tried making a FanPost but it keeps freezing on me when adding Links.

On Fanhouse.com, Lem Satterfield writes on the possiblity of Yuri Foreman facing off with Manny. Towards the end of the article he mentions people who have speculated on Manny's ablilities Publicy:

There are others in the boxing community, however, who have speculated, publicly, about Pacquiao's abilities.

After watching Pacquiao's destruction of Cotto, an astonished Andre Berto told Elie Sechback of FanHouse "Something's wrong with Manny," adding, "they need to check him out. He's gotta be on something. He's an animal."

Cotto recently joined Berto, Malignaggi, and, Kermit Cintron, among fighters who have doubts about Pacquiao.

"I am in complete awe with Manny's reaction to this matter. He has always been a great athlete and a gentleman. Why in the world would he require restrictions or conditions for the tests?," said Cotto on Fightnews.com.

"It is a golden opportunity for him to dissipate all worldwide rumors surrounding his figure and the use of enhancement drugs," said Cotto. "His refusal to commit to the tests without conditions raises questions."

Yet another question about Pacquiao was raised in a Christmas Day article written by New York Daily News columnist, Tim Smith, a boxing scribe for more than two decades and a 2005 winner of The Boxing Writer's Association of America's prestigious Nat Fleischer Award for excellence in fight coverage.

Citing "a source familiar with the talks," Smith wrote that "Pacquiao's representatives asked what penalties Pacquiao would face if he tested dirty, and also if a dirty test result could be kept secret so that the integrity of the fight wouldn't be ruined in the public eye."

"Those are disturbing requests," wrote Smith. "It could just be due diligence on the part of the attorneys negotiating the contract or it could be that Pacquiao has something to hide."

Pertaining to the Bulls Marc Stein writes:

There is a growing belief around the league that Charlie Villanueva has moved ahead of Hedo Turkoglu on Detroit's wish list. Chicago's Ben Gordon remains the perimeter player deeply coveted by the Pistons, but the prospect of a Gordon-and-Villanueva combo would be cheaper than trying to sign Gordon and Turkoglu with Detroit's nearly $19 million in projected salary-cap space. So look for the Pistons to take that approach -- or pursue a Gordon-and-Paul Millsap combo -- while they also decide between Doug Collins and Avery Johnson as their next coach.

That could put them roughly $23 million under the cap going into free agency. Over the past few months, we've assumed Carlos Boozer is their primary target, but that might not be the case. A league source told me Tuesday that the Pistons' free-agent strategy likely would preclude a run at Boozer.

The Pistons want to add several players to the roster and want to keep salaries at or less than $10 million per year. With Boozer likely demanding a deal in the $15 million to $16 million a year range, his contract demands are out of their league. Add in concerns about Boozer's injury history, and I don't think the Pistons will make a play for him.

Instead, you can look for them to make a run at Ben Gordon, try to re-sign Antonio McDyess and find one or two other players they can sign for smaller salaries.

That stance in Detroit could put Boozer in a tough position. If he opts out of his contract with the Jazz, he's going to struggle to find any team far enough under the cap to offer him what he wants. And with the Jazz interested in keeping Paul Millsap, Boozer could be out of luck in Utah, too.

Although the Heat covets potential 2010 free agent Chris Bosh, one NBA person said Toronto general manager Bryan Colangelo recently told him the current plan is to try to surround Bosh with better players instead of trading him.
That plan will change this summer only if Bosh expresses serious doubts about re-signing.

A friend of Dwyane Wade said Wade would love to play with Bosh in Miami. -- The Miami Herald

Blog a Bull Theoretically Speaking 04-28-09

Here are some observations that I had watching tonights game:

  • While trying to decide what channel to watch, TNT or COMCAST Sportsnet, I was thinking what do other BlogaBull members watch? Do you watch the crew on comcast who have watched the Bulls all season or the TNT crew who give you an outside opinion. I usually watch TNT because I like having that outside view. What do you guys perfer?
  • Wasn't Miller supposed to be the player who brought us stability? Someone who we can rely on to make minimal mistakes in the playoffs. But man the last couple of games his turnovers have been horrible. Kudos for losing a tooth but the turnovers have been critical for this young team.
  • I almost forgot Derrick Rose is a rookie. He reminded me tonight.
  • Did everyone get bad flashbacks when Hinrich *dribbled, dribbled, dribbled, went back, dribbled, dribbled, dribbled, then went back further*, I'm so happy we got Rose now to run the point.
  • Gordon continued his "wtf is he doing!!!! ha YES he made IT!!!!!!!" moments.

So after this game I feel that we might go 7 games but Boston keeps showing us that experience matters in the playoffs. We are the most talented team but it seems everything we do the Celtics counter at the right moment. That comes with experience. Anything can happen in game 7 but I have a feeling that we fall short.

Ben Gordon doesn't worry what others think, especially those who questioned his decision to shun two long-term offers from the Bulls the last two summers.
"It really doesn't make a difference to me. I'm going to try to do the things I need to do to accomplish what I'm trying to accomplish. Unless it's like my Mom or something, everything anybody else says doesn't have anything to do with the way I handle myself."

Gordon will be an unrestricted free agent July 1. As for wanting to remain with the Bulls, Gordon is noncommital. "Honestly, I haven't really thought much about it," he said. "I'm going to wait until after the season. All my options are open. I haven't closed any doors." -- Chicago Sun-Times

"We're the most dangerous team going into the playoffs in the Eastern Conference right now. I wouldn't say anyone is counting us out, but we're the underdog right now. I think we're going to come out and shock a lot of people."
