Stuart Mandel showing the Terps some love
SI just released their preseason bowl projections, and while that may be an insane thought, in some ways it's better than a preseason top 25, because it's a projection of what type of season a team will have as opposed to the relative strength of one team vs. another. And where do our Terps check in?
Chick-fil-A: Maryland (ACC No. 2) vs. Mississippi State (SEC No. 5)
We're the #3 team in the ACC. He has VT as champion and FSU as a BCS at-large.
Desouza and one more likely out for year
Per Edsall's teleconference today, Pete Desouza won't play this year and another unidentified player (not a starter) could be out as well.
He also said that offensive tackle Pete DeSouza, injured last year in a moped accident, would not be ready to play this year. “I probably don’t see that taking place for Pete this year,” Edsall said.
Edsall said that an unidentified player is injured and could be out for the year, pending a Monday examination. Edsall said the player is not a starter
There are a few other tidbits, but nothing major.

McGary planning another visit to MD
McGary visited Florida in August and Maryland in June; he plans on taking officials to both.Per Telep, he would also like to take an official to UK (the one coming up is just an unofficial), but for those of you counting at home, that would be 6, so someone is going to get left out.
12 'Canes expected to be ineligible
Apparently they're going to try and get them reinstated in time for the MD game similar to the Cam Newton situation last year.
The University of Miami was expected to declare ineligible 12 football players who are subject to an investigation by the NCAA over the booster scandal in a bid to increase their chances of playing in Sept. 5's season opener at Maryland, the Miami Herald reported Thursday.
No Terp love in the coaches poll
The preseason coaches poll is out and the Terps didn't score any votes. Not a shocker considering the question marks due to the coaching changes, but after last years run, and with DOB back, I did think we get at least 1 vote.
Looking to our schedule:
Fla St is #5
Notre Dame is #18
WVU and Miami just missed the top 25 with the 27th and 29th highest vote total
Clemson, NCST and GT came in at 40, 44, and 49
VT is the only other ranked ACC team at #13
NC received enough votes for 36th (wonder how many were cast before Davis got the boot)
Hawk lighting it up
Hawks currently repping Iceland in the FIBA U-20 Euro Championship, and although the team is struggling, Hawk has been one of the top all around players:
In five games playing for Iceland, Palsson has averaged 34 minutes, 23.8 points and 10 rebounds while shooting better than 41 percent from both inside and outside the 3-point arc. Out of the tournament’s 215 players, Palsson ranks third overall in points per game, fourth in rebounds, fifth in double-doubles (3) and first in 3-pointers made (3.6).

MD Football Sanctioned by NCAA
What happened, what it means, and where do we go from here.
There's been a lot of speculation on what went wrong in Vegas. Now that we've had a chance to reflect on what happened, I wanted to give my opinion, and if I'm right, what that means for the program and the search.

Not that big of a deal for us, since he was pretty much a longshot, but glad to see he didn't go to G-town.
