Reality Check Time: Your 2012 Seattle Seahawks

Hey, maybe Richard Sherman and Brandon Browner don't get suspended for PEDs. Maybe we get our shit together and pull out an upset in Chicago next week. Maybe the other contenders for the 6th seed...

O/T: L.A. city council approves plan for downtown football stadium

3

Not unlike the Seattle city council recently giving the okay for the new Sonics SoDo arena, the Los Angeles city council just unanimously approved the development of a new $1.5 billion stadium next to Staples Arena. And just like the Sonics plan, ground will not be broken until an NFL agrees to move (said team will, probably, play in the L.A. Coliseum until the already-named Farmer's Field is completed). There's already plenty of speculation on which team(s) will move, and remember that the NFL has required any team to make its intentions to move known sometime between January and February 15th. Also noted in the article is that billionaire Patrick Soon-Shiong is interested in buying AEG (the company building the new stadium), and he might look to purchase a team to move to LA.

It occurs to me that my avatar is also a close, yet incorrect, spoiler for The Dark Knight Rises. If you haven't seen the movie yet -- due to safety concerns, I'd imagine -- then please don't read the comments, and just leave now.

I really hate this video, because it implies that we Seahawks fans care about Aaron Curry or what he has to say. Curry could accuse Pete Carroll of murdering schoolchildren for fun and zero fucks would be given by me. And did blowing up Curry's jersey require 2 minutes and a over-the-top hip hop soundtrack? Shit like this just makes us look bad.

I probably shouldn't be the one writing this; I barely watch any baseball, and I don't follow the M's outside of LL and USS Mariner. I'm not completely ignorant of modern statistical analysis, but...

Russell Wilson's wife was understandably excited that her husband was drafted in the 3rd round, so much so that it led to an unfortunate and momentary gaze of pure evil. We should really cut her some slack, because it was a single moment of unbridled excitement, and except for that one moment she is a perfectly normal-looking non-evil human....but instead I made a 2nd picture of her as if she was the acid-spitting dinosaur from Jurassic Park. Sorry.

Record 26 Players to attend NFL Draft

7

Auspicious by their absence are LB Luke Kuechly, OG David DeCastro, and OTs Riley Reiff and Jonathan Martin, while guys like Rueben Randle and Shea McCellin -- who very likely won't be picked in the 1st round -- are going. Now, maybe those four just decided to watch from home with their family....or perhaps ESPN knows something we don't. Food for thought.

Go read and/or watch Matt Ufford's latest thing for SBNation, discussing logo designs of all the animal-based mascots of the NFL, and how they're all, like our very own Seahawks, more like Angry Birds. I like how he said that the old Seahawks logo had a stoic sadness to it, and photoshopped a single tear to it (which symbolizes Seahawks fandom almost too well). I also loved how he pointed out that the Dolphins logo is wearing a football helmet but not a Dolphins helmet, and created this to give everyone a seizure on purpose. Another great job by a fellow Twelve!

Interactive Half-a-Mock (UPDATED: 3/20/12)

Here's the new Nike-inspired logo for the 2012 Seattle Seahawks....nah, just kidding. An artist named Dave (a.k.a. Febreeze at the Something Awful website) was inspired to draw a "Manning Face" into the logos all 32 teams in the NFL, including our very own Seahawks. Peyton's puss fits better into a few other teams' logos better than ours, but considering we may be one of the 6 or 7 teams that might pursue the questionable QB this offseason, I thought it prudent to share this with other Seahawks fans.

How To Insert A Hyperlink Into A Comment Here At Field Gulls (Or Any SBN Site)

Maybe there's already a link to this somewhere at SBN (hell, I might have wrote a similar FanPost on this very subject a year or two ago), but reading comments here lately I feel this information...

DEAR GOD NO!!!!!

10

Not unlike monsters Freddy Kruger, Jason Vorhees or Jay Leno, Elderly Football Villain Brett Favre just will not let his career rest in peace; a reliable source says that the Philadelphia Eagles are considering signing Favre to become their backup QB, once Kevin Kolb is traded. One the one hand, this is a good idea for the Eagles, considering Favre's history with head coach Andy Reid, Michael Vick's susceptibility to injury, the shortened preseason and the lack of decent veteran QBs in the open market. But on the other hand......

Softy Mahler sez we offered 1st + 3rd for Kolb.

39

He's not citing any sources, just something he "heard," but according to him the Seahawks offered the Eagles a 1st round and 3rd round pick for Kevin Kolb before the lockout began. I'm not posting this because I think this rumor is legitimate, but because (a.) If the Seahawks want Kolb, that's probably the price they'll have to pay, and (b.) I want to get a reaction from the Field Gulls faithful. Until the lockout is over, all we can do is speculate.
